After comforting her a bit, she turned her head to look at Chen Feng. "What exactly happened? How could there be a car accident?"

Staring at her in front of him, Chen Feng hesitated for a long ti, not sure whether he should tell her the truth—that the crash happened because he answered her call.

Now that things had co to this, if he told Jinglei the truth, she would definitely bla herself. It was better not to say anything for now.

"I’m not very clear either. It seems that because Jinnan was on the phone while driving, he didn’t see the car changing lanes in front and just crashed right into it."

After listening to Chen Feng, Feng Jinglei didn’t realize that the call he ntioned was from her. Too much ti had passed, and she also didn’t know when and where the accident had happened.

"What did the Doctor say now?"

"The Doctor said his injuries are quite serious. Being able to drag back a life is already a blessing." Chen Feng glanced at Xiang Jinnan lying unconscious on the bed, his face gloomy. "As for whether he can wake up, the Doctor said it depends on how strong his will to live is."

Hearing Chen Feng’s words, Mother Xiang couldn’t help but quietly sob again.

Feng Jinglei turned her head. Listening to this made her heart ache as well.

A perfectly fine person—how could disaster suddenly fall on him like this.

"Uncle, Auntie, please don’t be too sad. I believe that since he survived such a great disaster, there will be blessings in store for him." Saying this to soone still lying in a hospital bed, unconscious, might sound very forced, but Feng Jinglei believed it: surviving a great catastrophe ant future blessings.

Mother Xiang lifted her eyes to look at her and, in the end, could only nod in self‑comfort, while Father Xiang let out a heavy sigh.

Xiang Jinnan was the flesh of their flesh. For sothing like this to suddenly happen, it was unbearable for them.

The Doctor ca in and examined Xiang Jinnan. When he was done, Feng Jinglei couldn’t wait to speak. "Doctor, he will wake up, right?"

The Doctor glanced at her, his expression heavy. "His life has been salvaged, but whether he can wake up is hard to say. And besides..." The Doctor paused, his expression even graver than before, and looked at the unconscious Xiang Jinnan. "Other than severe head trauma, both his legs were also trapped under the driver’s seat. Even if he wakes up, he might... lose the ability to walk."

Another piece of bad news hit, leaving everyone in the ward shaken in body and mind.

"You... you’re saying that... even if he wakes up, he might not be able to stand?" Looking at the Doctor, Feng Jinglei spoke in shock.

The Doctor lowered his gaze. Since the patient hadn’t even woken up yet, everything was just making the worst‑case assumptions; it was still too early to draw any conclusions.

"It’s still hard to say. If he himself can wake up, then there might also be a chance for his legs to stand again, maybe."

To Xiang Jinnan’s parents, the Doctor’s words were simply the cruelest double blow. Mother Xiang’s tears flowed even more fiercely because of it.

Watching this, Feng Jinglei also felt awful inside. Faced with such devastating news, she really didn’t know how to comfort the two elders.

Ti quietly slipped by, and Xiang Jinnan on the hospital bed still showed no sign of waking up.

Dusk fell.

Qin Feimo returned to the Commander Residence and saw only the servants and Uncle Qin in the living room.

"Young Master is back." Uncle Qin walked over and took the coat from his hand.

Qin Feimo swept a glance over the spacious, luxurious living room, and seeing neither his grandparents nor Feng Jinglei, he assud she was on the second floor, so he headed toward the stairs.

However, when he reached his room on the second floor, there was no sign of Feng Jinglei there either.
