The ashtray on the table beside Jensen Sterling was already filled with many cigarette butts.

The quiet and pitch-black night slowly brought back mories from childhood. He really liked that little glutinous rice dumpling back then. If she were his sister, he would give her all the best things.

But later, she left quietly without a trace. During that ti, no one in the Sterling Family knew what was wrong with their young master; his coldness was frightening. Even the servants at ho worked in silence during that period.

Later, the Sterling Family moved to the old house as well, and those mories seed to be sealed away, only resurfacing occasionally causing a mont of daze.

Until one day, Jensen attended a business gathering and saw Ashley Vance and Simon Sutton. Even though more than a decade had passed, he should have forgotten their appearances, but he hadn’t. He recognized them at first glance, as their looks hadn’t changed much over the years.

After that day, he went to investigate the Sutton Family and found out that the little glutinous rice dumpling from his childhood was the youngest daughter of the Sutton Family, nad Mia Sutton.

Her career in the entertainnt industry was not going well. When he saw the last piece of information, his eyes paused slightly because it read that Mia Sutton was Martin Wright’s current girlfriend.

It was the first ti Jensen took Martin Wright’s na seriously. He knew of that person, the son, an illegitimate child. Previously, this person’s existence was insignificant to him, but now...

In fact, Clark Jacobs had once mocked whether illegitimacy could be inherited.

...

Since Jensen t Ashley Vance and Simon, he had people investigate, and after understanding the entire story, Jensen remained silent for a long ti. After several days of contemplation, everything that happened later unfolded.

One reason Jensen decided to et Mia Sutton was that Giselle Sumrs was determined to introduce him to girls and wanted him to get married. Although she never said it outright, she frequently took him to various banquets during that ti, which were essentially matchmaking parties, even hosting them at ho.

He understood her intentions. Though he didn’t refuse, he wasn’t interested either. The frequent attempts beca annoying; he didn’t want to waste ti on such aningless things, so after learning about Mia Sutton, the idea slowly erged in his mind. If he got married, this situation could be resolved.

On the other hand, in his heart, the significance of that glutinous rice dumpling from the past was different. The soft little dumpling that would smile when she saw him, babbling and cooing. Although many years had passed, that feeling seed as fresh as yesterday.

He had been pretending for so many years that even his usual temperant seed fake. Sotis, even he couldn’t distinguish which emotions were his own and which were fabricated.

But he clearly felt that he wanted that little dumpling, a strong feeling. He liked that feeling and wanted to experience it again. So no matter what, he would achieve his goal.

Although the investigation showed her personality and way of handling the world were different from the grown-up glutinous rice dumpling he imagined, even to the point of being opposite, after a long silence, Jensen still made that decision.

It didn’t matter if she was different from his imagination; he had the ti and energy to change a person.

...

To be honest, if the investigation hadn’t indicated Chloe Young was returning to the country, Jensen might have resorted to so ans. After all, he had never been a kind person. He wouldn’t mind taking soone from a not-so-close nephew, as morality was worthless to him.

Although he always maintained a gentle and warm image, wearing a mask for so long doesn’t make it real!

When he went to et Mia Sutton that day, before the young lady arrived, he contemplated many scenarios by the window. He thought about taking it slow, not scaring the young lady and getting to know her bit by bit; he wasn’t in a hurry.

He considered many possibilities except that the young lady was entirely different from the investigation. She was beautiful, clean, and a bit quirky. He saw none of the bad habits ntioned in the investigation on Mia Sutton.

This version of her gradually overlapped with the grown-up dumpling in his mind. So when she said she broke up with Martin Wright rather than had a conflict, he subconsciously asked.

The young lady agreed so readily that it surprised him.

But it didn’t matter. There should be so wit. She had other reasons to agree, and he had his reasons to marry her. So fundantally, there’s no difference between the two.

...

The cigarette in his hand burned out again, scorching the skin, a slight pain transmitted through the nerves to his brain, bringing him back to his senses.

Jensen looked down at the cigarette in his hand and slowly lifted his hand, throwing it into the container beside him.

Then he stood up from the chair, his tall figure reflected in the window glass.

Initially, he didn’t truly plan to remain married to Mia Sutton forever; he just wanted to relive that feeling, a feeling that lingered with him for so long.

The paper agreent wasn’t just for show. He had indeed planned to divorce in three years, which is why there was this agreent.

By his usual style, he wouldn’t have considered others’ feelings. But because it was Mia Sutton, he felt marrying her was a debt, so he included many favorable terms for her in the agreent, intending to compensate her.

He really hadn’t expected the subsequent events at that ti.

However, tonight’s physical reactions, in every way, revealed his intentions, perhaps even thoughts he hadn’t acknowledged himself.

He couldn’t pinpoint exactly when he started liking this person.

Maybe it was when she helped massage him when he was tired, or when she looked at him with bright eyes calling him husband, or when she cared for him while he was sick...

Or perhaps even earlier, much earlier than all of these.

Physical reactions can’t deceive, heartbeats can’t lie. All these truly exist.

All these manifestations pointed to one result, that he had fallen for Mia Sutton, this quirky person.

Indeed, who could refuse soone like Mia Sutton after getting to know her? She was wonderful, her grace embedded in her very essence, kind but not naively so, with her own principles.
