Chapter 63 - Under Attack
"Miss Xiu."
Suddenly, a hand grabbed her by her elbow instantly startling her. Even before she could react to it, the hand imdiately dragged her causing her to lose her balance.
"Let go!"
With her phone in her hand, she struggled against the person holding her. She tried to pull away as she hit the arm of the stranger but it seed like her attack was similar to a marshmallow hitting a cent.
"Miss Xiu, we’ve been sent by Master Mo Ruo to guard you."
What?
Xiu i’s struggle was then put into a halt upon hearing her second brother’s na.
She narrowed her eyes as she cautiously looked in suspicion towards the man in uniform.
She didn’t instantly believe what the person was saying to her. Especially the fact that soone’s aiming for her life right at the mont, she just couldn’t trust the strangers approaching her so easily. She couldn’t help but be cautious whether this person is actually on her side or a foe trying to take the opportunity to attack her when her guard is down.
The man seeing that Xiu i was still suspicious and didn’t show any signs of following him to safety contacted their leader through the earpiece informing him of the current situation. While he waited for further instructions, he kept his guard up and eye on the ’package’ while protecting her.
On the other hand, Xiu i quickly grabbed the phone she almost dropped when she was pulled by the stranger.
She flipped over her phone facing the screen and seeing the phone blacked out, she cursed. Shit, why wasn’t it connecting to her brother’s phone?
She pressed the button on the side, lighting up the phone. She froze when she saw that the phone was actually connected successfully...but it wasn’t to her brother’s number.
Mr. Lu, 01:08.... It has been connected for quite awhile now.
She must’ve accidentally hit his number when she was panicking awhile ago and just pressing so random numbers. Stupid Xiu i, how did you forgot that his number is on her speed dial too?
Her finger hovered on the end call button, hesitant to press it. Should she... ask for his help?
Damn it, who cares about disturbing him right now anyway. That’s the least of her priorities! She is close to losing her little life right now if she’s too mindful of her pride.
Quickly bringing her phone to her ear right now, she could hear the sounds of rushed footsteps on the other side.
Nervously, she spoke. "Hello?"
Her voice was noticeably shaking as the sounds of gunshots continued to reverberate throughout the parking lot. The man next to her was standing at her front and she wondered whether he had stood there to hide her and protect or was it to block her from running away?
"Xiu i!"
Xiu i almost did not recognize the voice on the other side. Different from his usual composed, calm and deep voice, Lu Chen was speaking in a higher pitch and the worry in his voice couldn’t be hidden at all.
"Are you alright? Where are you right now?" He rushed as he questioned her. Lu Chen was currently on the elevator and undeniably, the phone signal isn’t really that good inside. Even though the sound would often break, he could clearly hear the gunshots on the other line.
God knows how he almost got a heart attack the mont he heard those sounds.
He was still patching up so papers when he received the call from Xiu i. He was actually quite confused at first, since he knew that Xiu i had already gone ho without even saying goodbye to him thanks to his other secretary outside who had inford him through ssage.
He was actually quite disappointed that Xiu i didn’t say goodbye or goodnight to him, however, he understood quite well why she didn’t do that.
He still wasn’t in her heart. And their relationship still wasn’t close enough so she wasn’t comfortable in casually talking with him yet. And he’s still working on it.
After a few rings, he picked up her call. Was she suddenly feeling guilty now?
And contrary to his expectations, her voice wasn’t what he had heard first thing when the call connected.
"Hello?"
"...."
He waited for a second when he finally heard a sound.
"BANG!....BANG!....Miss Xiu!....BANG!...Let go!....BANG!"
Even though Xiu i’s voice was a bit drowned out by the gunshots in the background, he could still faintly hear her voice and another person’s voice. He imdiately realized that Xiu i’s life is being threatened right now with all the gunshots in the background.
His eyes dimd and his heart almost stopped in fear. Just at the thought of sothing happening to Xiu i, his heart and mind would probably crushed to pieces.
He quickly stood up from his seat and almost ran to the door and called Lu Shao.
"Quickly get Lee In and the team here. I want every person in Xiu i’s post mobilized."
Lu Shao quickly picked up on what his boss was trying to imply and imdiately acted on his instructions.
Lu Chen quickly went to the elevator and pressed the down button of the elevator. His shoes tapping in impatience, he quickly turned to the other door near the elevator. It was the ergency stairs.
However, the mont he tried turning the doorknob, the door didn’t budge.
Lu Chen’s first thought was to destroy everything in anger right now. His eyes dimd as he realized how dire the situation is right now.
They are under attack. And the enemies planned well in blocking all the exits.
Shit!
Were they really targeting Xiu i?!
