Chapter 261 - Lu Chen, the City Leader

Even if the two rooms were separated by the wall, almost everyone within the room could sense the drop in temperature and the tension rising between the two clan heads.

Lu Chen ignored the rising tension and continued pressing further on the topic. He casually picked up the tea cup, swirled it in his hand and watched the swirling liquid inside. He slled it and imdiately sensed that there was a poison mixed in the tea.

He didn’t seem to mind it that much. He was quite used with being ’gifted’ by poisons by his enemies, and the other organizations who are after his authority. Besides, he was already trained to intake quite a number of poisons and eventually got immuned to a lot of them so this much poison in the tea wouldn’t affect him very much.

Lu Chen drank the tea gracefully and continued, "Lao Mao should know how much I despise rats. It seems like I’ve been too generous lately for you to start collaborating with the mafia from the west." He said in a flat tone as if he wasn’t saying important but each word from his statent was full of threat that if the Sy Clan continues to overstep their bounds, then he wouldn’t hesitate to wipe them out in a blink of an eye.

Lao Mao, of course, wasn’t the least bit intimidated. "Mr.Lu is quite fierce today ah. Was it because of the politician’s daughter you are currently seeing?"

His words made Lu Chen’s action halt for a mont but he quickly acted as if he wasn’t shaken at all.

"Is that what Lao Mao thinks? However, even if it’s true or not, I don’t like it when people try to touch what’s mine."

Lu Chen put down the cup in his hand, patted his mouth with his handkerchief and spoke again, "Lao Mao, have you forgotten the consequences of what the previous head of your clan did that made his head fly away? It’s truly a sad thing that he wasn’t able to see the sunrise the next day ah."

Of course, Lu Chen didn’t back down with Lao Mao’s provokation and reminded him of the previous punishnt bestowed upon the previous Sy Clan leader who also dared to cooperate with an assassin organization in the Middle East.

Back then, the previous Sy Clan head was too bold with his actions. He worked with them in smuggling firearms all over the world in exchange of assistance in killing the previous Legion leader which was his master.

Lao Mao, who was still a successor that ti, personally witness how Lu Chen’s master beheaded the Sy Clan leader after defeating him. After that, the entire Sy Clan was forced to go under for a year under the suppression of The Legion organization along with the other major organizations.

But of course, the Sy Clan’s power was still there so they were able to get back on their feet less than three years after Lao Mao’s succession.

Recalling that mory, Lao Mao’s hand trembled slightly and instead of getting frightened, it beca more of a source of anger that motivated his current actions today.

"That was still during the reign of the previous Legion head. Does Mr.Lu imply that he will do the sa as the previous city leader?" Lao Mao spat out venemously.

"No." Lu Chen refuted, "I’ll do worst than what my Master did."

He tilted the teapot spilling the remaining poisoned tea on the ground. "I’d rather cut off the root directly than let if fester like an infection. So I’m giving you my first and last warning as my generosity."

Lu Chen stood up from his seat, the sound of his chair screeching against the floor echoed within the room. He turned his back but he didn’t leave imdiately.

He turned his head slightly, "Return to your senses unless you want to wake up with no one working under you anymore." Lu Chen said coldly with his deep voice. He lowered his eyelids as he look at the narrow hole on the well, gave it a one final look before striding towards the room.

As soon as Lu Chen’s figure left the room, the sound of things shattering could be heard from the opposite side.

Lu Chen returned to the headquarters and talked with the Legion representative head, Vin, who usually takes care of his other work when he’s not around.

"Put the Sy Clan under close observation from now on. If he tries to make a move again, i give permission to annihilate all his n in sight." Lu Chen firmly instructed.

"What about the opinion of the other organizations? I’m pretty sure they will protest against it once we make a move." Vin voiced out his opinion.

"Then let them know all the things Lao Mao did and make them choose whose side they will take. Remind them that they signed a deal that they will follow all the rules we enforced for so many years and if they dare to break the contract, I’m afraid they will suffer the consequences of their actions."

Lu Chen’s decision was final. Even if the other organization leaders are against with his actions, they could only put down their guns and cower in front of him. It was the result of how he suppress all the major organization’s businesses in the underground city and in other places back then. It was like a one-man show that made most of the mafias and organizations bow down before him.

Back then, people was belittling his existence since he didn’t have many achievens when he was entitled as the successor of the City Leader. During college, his life was constantly targeted. Even during the ti when he was still building the Lu Corporation from the ground. But it all paid off because not only was he a genius in business but he was well versed in strategies. He knows all the weak points of his opponent, and he used it to his advantage by shooting them all in their sources of power and money.

It was a one-sided attack leaving the others to succ.u.mb to his authority in no ti. That’s why even if Lu Chen wasn’t always around in the Underground City, no one dared to challenge his authority or snatch his position as the main leader. Even the mbers of the Legion was given proper respect since each mber was individually strong and frightening as well.

After realizing that he wouldn’t be able to change Lu Chen’s decision anymore, Vin sighed in frustration but eventually gave in. He was complaining how much work he has to do again and that he needs a raise before he stord out Lu Chen’s office.

On the other hand, Albert was just starting to get serious. The strange event during the stock trading a few days ago was caused by him. Not only did it signify the start of his plan but he flaunted that manipulating the stocks was a child’s ga for him and that he didn’t fear the law at all.

As he expected, he didn’t receive any response from Xiu i at all after that day. He chuckled at this naive chess piece that he used for years against the Xiu family.

His plans originally kickstarted the day he kidnapped the precious princess of the Xiu family. Of course, choosing her as the chess piece wasn’t his own decision. He was still choosing who to target when Xiu Su Yi ca voluntarily to his door saying he wanted revenge for the death of his lover.

He wasn’t moved by the tragic love story, but Xiu Su Yi was a useful piece since he has wide connections coming from a family of politicians.

It was him who suggested to put a crack on the inside first. And Xiu i, whose mother hails from a military family and her father who belongs to a literary family mixed in politics, was the perfect choice to target.

And they were successful.

Kidnapping the precious princess did alert quite a number of people, but Xiu i’s performance completely stole the spotlight. She beca broken, and the focus beca entirely hers the mont she tried to commit suicide.

Later on, her situation didn’t get any better making them focus all their energy to hers instead. Even though they wanted to find the culprit behind the kidnapping, the precious princess was too broken to cooperate with the investigation thus no further leads was found.

It was the most perfect ti to build his power within the military and the governnt. And so in just a few years, he succeeded in centing his power in the two vital powers within the country. That was a major feat.

But then, he who didn’t expect that the precious Xiu princess would get entangled with the most feared person in the underground city. Lu Chen’s involvent made the situation a bit complicated, and since he was interested in playing around a bit more, he sneaked into the Lu Corporation on his own.

Provoking Xiu i from the inside was easy, from the kidnapping in the garage, approaching Ying Wan Wan and acted as her underling but actually using her, and his personal approach to Xiu i with the excuse of work and the secret presents he gave her.

Oh, the joy it brought to him really.

Now, he was wondering. What about making Xiu i his woman?
