Chapter 190 - PDA
Xiu i silently sat on the sofa in the study while watching her husband’s back who was fully focused on his conference eting with their international partners. She could only gaze at his figure whilst she waited for ti to pass by.
Lu Chen stopped her from working too much for the first week since she just got discharged from the hospital, so she listened to him obediently to ease his worries. But aside from working, Xiu i really couldn’t think of anything to do at all. It almost felt like she didn’t know what her life was when she wasn’t working at all.
She sighed. While waiting for Lu Chen to finish his call, she lied down on the sofa and played with her tablet instead. She grabbed her wireless earbuds and read so novels online while passing the ti. In the end, she got too engrossed with what she was reading that she didn’t even notice that Lu Chen had been watching her for quite so ti now.
Lu Chen watched his wife smile and silently giggle for almost every minute as she stared at her tablet. He finished his work early today since he knew that Xiu i would get bored if he left her alone to play so he decided to accompany her for the rest of the day before they pick up Lu Qiang from school.
Seeing her look so carefree and without worry, his distressed heart was slightly soothed. But his worry never disappeared. He observed her for a few more minutes before he finally walked over to where she was.
Xiu i was already reading the climax of the story when she felt her surroundings dimd a little bit. She subconsciously raised her head to see what was obstructing the light and finally saw Lu Chen’s towering figure above her.
’You’re done?’ She mouthed without a sound. Lu Chen read her lips and nodded as a response.
"Sorry, I made you wait didn’t I?" He crouched beside her figure and stroked her head. Xiu i noticed that Lu Chen seems to really like doing this lately.
She shook her head. Lu Chen smiled and held her hand bringing it to his lips. He kissed her knuckles and with a twinkle in his eyes, he offered a proposal.
"Then let’s go on a date?"
A date?
Xiu i blinked. She thought for a short mont before smiling and nodded to his suggestion. Since she didn’t have anything to do at ho, she’d rather play outside with Lu Chen instead of wasting ti lying down like this.
Besides, they could pick up Lu Qiang after they finish their date too! Look, they still have around 2 hours to play if they go now.
The husband and wife changed into appropriate attire for their date. Last ti, the two of them went on a humble yet fun date of playing in an arcade and eating street foods. This ti, they went to the cinema to watch a movie.
"Which one do you want to watch?" Lu Chen asked while looking at the lined up movie posters on the walls. Xiu i didn’t hesitate and chose the action thriller movie. It’s the type of movie she really likes watching and she thought that Lu Chen would probably be entertained too. Since she wasn’t sure whether he would really enjoy watching a romance or horror movie.
Lu Chen nodded and queued to buy their tickets and snacks. While waiting for him, Xiu i sat silently on the side, watching Lu Chen’s figure from afar. She could see a lot of girls noticing him and squealing but Lu Chen continued ignoring their reactions. So brave girls tried to approach him but ended up failing after eting Lu Chen’s cold stare.
She was too focused on her husband’s figure that she didn’t notice her popularity. Xiu i’s beauty wasn’t the goddess type, but she’s pretty enough just like those actresses in the dramas.
Lu Chen, who was about to return to his wife’s side, frowned as soon as he saw so guys crowding a few ters away from his wife. They were hiding behind the pillars and standing quite far away from her so that’s why she probably didn’t even notice it but Lu Chen didn’t like the gazes that those n were throwing at her.
He saw soone got pushed forward to Xiu i’s direction and so Lu Chen briskly walked to reach Xiu i’s side faster. The guy stopped in his tracks when he realized soone already beat him to it, but he imdiately backed away as soon as he saw the glare from Lu Chen.
She, who was totally unaware of what unfolded, smiled at her husband and extended her hands to grab the popcorn bucket that he was holding.
"Let’s go, wife." Lu Chen was straightforward. He held her hand while helping her stand up and wrapped his around her waist before they started walking away. He even caressed her hair lightly boldly showing his affection in public. The guys who saw this eventually stepped back thinking that he was the boyfriend and so they imdiately run away after recalling the glare he threw at them.
Xiu i who was surprised by his actions, "...?"
She stared at him in confusion but Lu Chen acted as if he did nothing and ushered her inside the cinema. They eventually found their seats which was a two-seater special sofa. Lu Chen bought the ticket with these special seats since the cashier said that it was the perfect seat for couples.
Xiu i sat comfortably on the leather seat while Lu Chen sat beside her.
"Wife, wear this." Lu Chen said, handing over the jacket he was wearing a while ago. Since it was colder than he had expected inside the cinema, he was worried that Xiu i would get sick because of the temperature.
Xiu i wanted to decline since she thought Lu Chen would feel cold with just his shirt on but Lu Chen insisted. Even if she would like to protest, she couldn’t without her voice and she didn’t want to disturb other people.
Xiu i felt warr as soon as she wore the jacket. Compared to her small figure, Lu Chen’s jacket look oversized on her. His jacket could even pass as a large dress on her when zipped up.
Lu Chen busied himself by placing so tissues around the cold cup so Xiu i’s hands won’t get wet and cold. After placing that on her side, he scooted closer to his wife while holding the popcorn so she could easily reach out to eat one.
The movie was already starting so Xiu i’s focus was now on the big screen in front of her. Despite wearing the jacket, maybe because her body hasn’t fully recovered, she still felt cold inside the cinema. She subconsciously scooted closer to the heat beside her, looping her arm around Lu Chen’s. She even leaned her head on his shoulder for a comfortable position.
Lu Chen smiled at her actions. He helped her get more comfortable by looping his arm around her waist instead, and then he pulled her closer to his embrace. They stuck close to each other as if they were at ho until they finished the movie.
Even when they left the cinema to drive back to Lu Qiang’s primary school, their intimate gestures didn’t lessen at all. Lu Chen wrapped his arm around her shoulder, while his other hand was tucking so of her hair behind her ear. Xiu i was even wiping off the traces of popcorn on his mouth.
The two of them didn’t shy away from displaying their affection in public, plus with their face value combined, almost everyone in the cinema lobby was looking at them. They didn’t even notice that soone already recognized them and took their picture before uploading it on Weibo. The netizens who were suddenly rubbed with dog food of this couple reacted excitedly under the image. It was only when Xiu i received ssages from her friends that she knew about the taken picture. She grew red when she saw the picture, seeing how close and intimate she and Lu Chen looked in it.
Her heart did a flip when she saw Lu Chen’s loving and tender gaze at her through the picture.
"What are you looking at?" Lu Chen curiously asked, glancing at his wife’s flushing cheeks. With their vehicle stopping in front of the red light, he looked over her shoulder to see what she was looking at on her phone. And there, he saw the said image.
He glanced at Xiu i’s reaction again and chuckled. He was clearly amused by her expression and so he didn’t stop himself from stealing a kiss in her mouth. Since they are on the road, Lu Chen only pecked her on the lips for a quick second.
Xiu i who was surprised by Lu Chen’s shaless action could only hit him on his shoulder while glaring at him adorably.
What was he doing in public ah?! What if the people in the other car sees them?
She scolded him in her mind, but her flushing cheeks says otherwise.
