Chapter 165 - City S - Part 5
After that brief conversation with her husband, unfortunately, the talk about Xiu i’s work status in the near future has been put into on-hold for now.
Right now, she was here in City S to fulfill her duties as the President’s secretary. Lu Qiang’s request, both of them would have to deal with that once she gets back.
Just as she promised, Xiu i had a short chat with Lu Qiang the very next day before she left for work. Thankfully, Lu Qiang’s mood was way better than it was last night and the mother and son were able to have a very fruitful conversation.
After spending a quick breakfast in her room, Xiu i t with the others in the lobby while waiting for the assigned vehicle to pick them up to bring them to the eting place.
"Ms.Xiu, it’s very nice to see you once again." The Vice-Chairman of the Zen Group uttered as soon as they t. The others were sitting behind them while the Account Executive and Albert Chen are sitting beside her.
Putting on her business smile, Xiu i stood up and shook hands with the Vice-Chairman as well. It was during the International Conference for Technology that she t first t the Vice-Chairman of the Zen Group. Both left with good impressions with each other after their brief conversation back then hence, the partnership with the upcoming tech beca possible.
Xiu i and the others went straight to business after the formalities. Just like she suspected, it was the Data Breach issue that caused them to beco hesitant to continue with the project. She explained the circ.u.mstances that it wasn’t what they thought it was and assured them that this matter definitely won’t happen again. It took them quite a long ti to convince the Vice-Chairman before he finally signed the project budget contract.
With the signing of the contract, Xiu i got even busier. Albert Chen split up the team to divide their tasks. Bringing 2 mbers from the Marketing Team 3, Xiu i accompanied the Vice-Chairman in doing the random quality check and progress in both Lu Corporation and Zen Group’s testing centers.
She was too busy that she almost forgot about Lu Qiang’s issue and Wan Wan’s stubbornness that she would follow her everywhere during her stay in City S. It was only on the third day did Wan Wan appear in front of her when she was taking her dinner alone in a restaurant a few blocks away from the hotel.
"Sister ii!" Wan Wan vigorously called her na as she suddenly popped out of nowhere in front of her

Did she have so kind of tracker or sothing? How the hell does she always appear perfectly in front of her when she was alone?
Then she rembered the bracelet she was wearing.
Oh. She does have a tracker.
Xiu i frowned. Did Wan Wan sohow plant so kind of different tracker on that’s why she could always find her?
Without waiting for Xiu i, Wan Wan comfortably occupied the seat opposite her table and waved for the waiter to order. She did it so naturally as if she was originally ant to eat with her in the first place.
She glanced at her unfinished food and sighed. It’s going to be a waste of food if she leaves without finishing this.
She stared at the beaming Wan Wan for a few seconds before deciding to just stay and finish her al first before leaving her here.
"Sister ii, I couldn’t find you at all yesterday. Were you so busy?" Wan Wan blinked cutely as if she was asking a very normal question.
Xiu i sohow shuddered at her question. She thought, isn’t that what a stalker would say to her targets?
....or was she thinking too much?
Swallowing the food in her mouth, she halfheartedly answered, "I am busy so I recomnd Ms.Ying to play on her own."
"But I wanna hang out with you." She pouted at her
"As I said, I’m not interested in spending ti with you Ms.Ying."
"Then I’ll make it interesting for you!"
"Don’t make it interesting."
"Then I’ll make it fun."
Xiu i’s expression hardened. With pursed lips, she looked straight into her eyes.
"Don’t make it fun."
Wan Wan continuously ignored the tone of her voice and pressed, "So where do we go tomorrow?"
"I’m not going anywhere with you tomorrow."
"Should we go to the park? Or the mall? Or the temple?"
"..."
Fine, she’s not listening.
Xiu i speeded up eating instead. She can’t last any longer with Wan Wan like this or she’ll go crazy. Xiu i deppresingly sighed. She didn’t know how Wan Wan grew up in Ying family but surely, she didn’t have the normal kind.
What kind of normal person would use an ice cream to stop her from leaving like a robber? And who would enthusiastically tell a person that she was trying to find her the whole day yesterday?
This ti, she’s not avoiding her because of Mrs.Ying. She’s avoiding her now because Ying Wan Wan turned out strange than she had expected. She even worried whether she picked up back in the orphanage or in the Ying family.
As soon as she finished her dinner, she glanced at Wan Wan who have yet to finish hers. She rejoiced in her mind and quickly collected her stuff.
"I’ll go first."
And before she could let Wan Wan react, her steps accelerated towards the paynt area. Handing a large bill, she said, "I don’t need the change. Thanks."
Without waiting for the cashier’s reaction, she quickly left the restaurant. Passing by the window, she couldn’t help but glance to see Wan Wan’s reaction. Her eyes automatically shifting to her previous seat, her eyes widened not seeing Wan Wan’s figure there. Her eyes darted towards the paynt area but she couldn’t see it from the window.
Fudge, is she leaving the restaurant now? Without even finishing her food? Goddamnit is she seriously going to follow her?!
She didn’t think about it any further and dashed towards the area with many people. She tried mixing in the crowd in hopes that Wan Wan wouldn’t spot her. Without looking back anymore, she made a beeline back to the hotel without stopping until she arrived to her room.
Leaning on the door, she was already panting with how quick she was walking.
Oh god, why did she suddenly feel so scared with Wan Wan ah?
Was it because she was clearly sensing the stalker potential in her?
Xiu i shuddered at the thought.
After calming down and thinking for a few minutes, she quickly sent a short ssage to Lee In.
Xiu i: Can you monitor Wan Wan for ?
Lee In: Yes we can. Do you want to put soone on her 24/7?
Xiu i paused to think before sending her response.
Xiu i: No. Just let know about her whole stay in City S and why she is here.
Lee In: Copy that. I’ll let you know once we’re done investigating her.
Xiu i: Thank you.
She glanced at the dark sky from the window of her room. The image of her back while staring at the night sky looks gloomy and lancholic at the sa ti.
Her thoughts were floating into sowhere again as she crossed her arms.
Strange. Why does she suddenly feel weird all of sudden?
Kinda like that sothing’s gonna happen very soon?
Is this intuition? Or was she just too tired and thinking too much?
The very next day, Xiu i worked as usual. She was now on the way with the Vice-Chairman to the research area for the mobile technology their creating. It was the place where they are developing the features they want to include for their future products.
She was on the car talking about so business stuff with the Vice-Chairman when she suddenly felt the vehicle speed up than normal. She turned her head towards the front and glanced at the Vice-Chairman who looks very relaxed.
Was it just her imagination? Or was it the stress taking a toll on her body?
Xiu i took a deep breath. Why was she being so jumpy today ah?
After spending more than half a day right there, the Vice-Chairman left to attend to so other appointnt so Xiu i stayed there for a little longer to watch. It was already past 3 pm when she decided to leave the place. Since the other two groups are using the company vehicles temporarily, Xiu i had to hail her own cab to return to the hotel.
Luckily, she was able to get a cab in such a short ti despite the busy ti. She was reading the doc.u.nts on her tablet while waiting to arrive at her destination when a loud screeching sound resounded on her right.
Xiu i raised her head and turned towards the deafening source of the sound.
Her eyes widened. Everything happened so quickly that she didn’t have enough ti to react at all.
BANG! CRASH! CRASH!
"Oh my god!! Sobody call the ambulance!!" She heard a faint voice scream in the background.
