At this ti, the surroundings were completely silent, and one’s hearing beca involuntarily sensitive. Lying blankly on the bed, Ling Chuxia faintly heard whispers mixed with pain close to her ears.

Because she couldn’t hear it distinctly at first, Ling Chuxia wasn’t sure whether it was her own auditory hallucination. She subconsciously tilted her head to listen, and as she focused, the sound by her ear gradually beca clear.

It turned out not to be her hallucination, but sothing real? But... why was there such a sound? In this house, there was only her!

Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, Ling Chuxia’s eyes sharpened. Her brain hadn’t caught up yet, but her hands moved first, throwing off the blanket, her feet hit the floor, and she walked straight toward the door.

Her hand turned the doorknob, slowly pushing the door open, and everything in the living room slowly ca into view.

The man who should have already left had not departed. Instead, he leaned on the sofa, his hands clutching his head, a deep frown on his brow, his handso face slightly contorted with pain.

Ling Chuxia had never seen Shi Che with a headache before, but she had never seen him in such a severe state. In the past, whenever he had a headache, he would at most just knitted his brows but always kept a calm facade. Those unaware couldn’t even tell there was sothing wrong with him, unlike now, when it was apparent he was suffering imnse pain.

Watching Shi Che in this state, Ling Chuxia knew deep down that Shi Che’s matters were none of her concern, she shouldn’t bother with him, even if he were in excruciating pain. However... another voice inside her argued back. Indeed, she shouldn’t concern herself with Shi Che anymore, but this was her ho, and Shi Che was here now. If sothing were to happen to him, it would implicate her too. For that reason alone, she felt compelled to intervene.

Fine, this would be the last ti. She wasn’t interfering for his sake but to prevent anything from happening to him in her house.

Exactly, that was all!

Ling Chuxia clenched her hands that hung by her sides, steadying her heart bit by bit. Then she walked briskly to the TV cabinet, pulled open a drawer, and began to search. She rembered that there were spare painkillers in the house.

Maybe it was anxiety or sothing else, but as she searched, she couldn’t find the painkillers. In the end, she simply pulled out the drawer completely, pouring out all its contents.

Various backup dications scattered all over the floor. Ling Chuxia’s eyes quickly scanned them, finally spotting the painkillers.

She grabbed them, stood up, and walked quickly to the kitchen, poured a glass of water, then hurried back.

Shi Che’s pain was so intense that his consciousness began to blur, as if soone was hamring at his skull, about to split his head in two.

Suddenly, he felt his shoulder enveloped by a soft arm, that familiar, bone-deep scent slowly invading his nostrils. It seed like he was being supported in a half-embrace. Then, sothing was forcibly put into his mouth, and the next second, he felt water touch his lips, slowly poured into his mouth.

Despite his severe headache, Shi Che was not soone who could be easily manipulated. However, slling that familiar scent, all his guards and resistance vanished, and he swallowed subconsciously.
