The world overturned in that mont, and Ling Chuxia stood frozen in place, trembling uncontrollably despite the absence of a breeze.

The dim light from the phone screen illuminated the man’s face—the man whose features she had tried with all her might to forget. His eyebrows, his eyes, his nose, his lips were all deeply etched in her heart. Almost instantly, she recognized him as Shi Che.

He stood there, on the balcony next door.

Blinking, Chuxia’s heart filled with a cold sneer. It turned out her intuition was right; the person living next door was indeed Shi Che, not so coincidence.

And... right after she had sent that WeChat ssage to Mr. S, his phone had rung... Now, don’t tell her it was a coincidence again?

Ling Chuxia’s hands shook violently, but she forced herself to steady her fingers to type out each letter. Then, she fixed her gaze on the figure opposite her and pressed send.

As expected, the mont she hit send, the phone over there beeped instantly.

In an instant, everything beca clear. In an instant, Ling Chuxia felt utterly ridiculous.

So, Shi Che had been lurking by her side for so long, and she knew nothing of it—blissfully chatting with him, considering him a confidant, even feeling moved and grateful for his actions.

The reply to Shi Che’s question was as hurtful as he had anticipated, no... perhaps even more so.

He was rely the biggest mistake in Ling Chuxia’s life? That rciless response wiped away whatever warmth he thought had existed between them.

But that wasn’t the most terrifying part. The scariest thing was the ssage that followed right after. It was simple, just two words—his na, Shi Che.

The mont Shi Che saw those two words, a chill ran down his spine, and an ominous premonition hit him. He looked up sharply, his dark eyes unexpectedly clashing with Ling Chuxia’s.

It was so dark around them, he shouldn’t have been able to see her expression, but at that mont, he felt he could see the sharp, hateful intensity in Ling Chuxia’s eyes.

Shi Che’s heart sank into a panic he had never experienced before, so much so that he was left speechless.

Ling Chuxia watched him coldly, her lips curling into a frosty sneer, her voice colder than the night’s chilling wind.

"What exactly do you want?"

She didn’t even call him by na, looking at him with eyes as if he were a stranger, just as she had said before.

The sting of her gaze and the icy tone shook Shi Che; his body trembled montarily. This was not part of his plan—he shouldn’t have appeared before her so soon, yet... there was no escape.

"Chuxia..." Shi Che’s throat was dry, his voice raspy. There were so many things he wanted to say, but he didn’t know where to start. He called her na and then fell silent.

Yet Ling Chuxia laughed coldly, as if stung by sothing, her voice even colder and sharper, "Pretending to be Mr. S, moving next door to —Shi Che, what exactly are you trying to do?"

After asking the question, Ling Chuxia herself was the first to burst into laughter. Why was she still asking such foolish questions?
