"Go on!"
Watching the three gentlen walk to a corner of the banquet scene, Alice Robinson sighed out of boredom.
Turning around, she walked towards the long table laden with exquisite delicacies.
She never liked attending high-society banquets...
She felt that everyone who ca to the banquet was hypocritical because even when they were in a bad mood, they had to maintain elegance and a smile, just like her current mood.
She ca to the long table out of boredom, looking at those delicate dishes, she had no appetite at all.
Unable to help herself, she turned to search for Chester Robinson’s figure, only to find that he was still catching up with friends.
In the eyes of his friends, he seed to be a simple doctor...
She really admired how he had played his role without a flaw for so many years; a person like him, she should have known long ago that he wasn’t simple.
If she were to run out now and tell the whole world that he was the secret CEO behind "QCS," she believed few would believe it?
Lost in her thoughts, suddenly, a tall and upright figure appeared in her line of sight.
He seed to have a natural aura, attracting the gaze of many won present.
Alice’s mouth opened slightly, staring blankly at Claud Laurence who was walking towards Chester and the others.
Johnny and Coase got up to greet Claud Laurence, their manners respectful...
Claud Laurence shook hands with Chester and gradually entered a discussion.
Alice sat idly in a quiet corner of the banquet, sipping on the unpleasant champagne.
Suddenly, the lights dimd, and guests started entering the dance floor in the center of the banquet...
As Alice turned her head, intending to find Chester’s figure, she discovered he was chatting with a young woman with an elegant exterior.
The woman looked quite good, possibly around twenty-six or seven, exuding a serene charm with every gesture.
Chester seed to be having a pleasant conversation with her, clinking champagne glasses now and then.
Feeling inexplicably stifled, Alice was about to get up and walk towards Chester, but then...
As she stood up, her gaze involuntarily fell upon a tall figure.
Claud Laurence...
He was standing right in front of her, his gaze soft, unabashed, and unreserved, directly looking at her.
Alice froze for a mont, not expecting him to appear before her.
Though there was a re ter between them, she could sense the arrogance and pride hidden within him...
A person with such a deanor was undoubtedly not simple.
Alice felt a bit at a loss.
He looked at her and suddenly extended his hand like a gentleman, "May I?"
He was inviting her to dance.
Though she hadn’t spoken with him, the several encounters had piqued her curiosity about him...
Yet she hadn’t imagined his voice would be this pleasant to hear.
Alice politely said to Claud Laurence, "I’m sorry, I have a partner..."
Claud Laurence looked at her, slowly responding, "Perhaps your partner now already has a new partner."
Hearing what Claud Laurence said, Alice turned towards the direction where Chester had been.
However, Chester was no longer there...
Alice searched around and finally found him in the center of the dance floor.
She never imagined he’d be dancing with that serene young woman...
Her gaze lingered for a long ti on Chester’s hand wrapped around the woman’s waist.
A wave of disappointnt surged in Alice’s heart, and she slowly withdrew her gaze, lightly biting her lip.
Alice was unaware that all her expressions had fallen into Claud Laurence’s eyes; at this mont, he took her hand and led her to the dance floor...
When Claud Laurence wrapped his arm around her waist, Alice was deeply startled.
Aside from Chester, no man had ever held her like this.
Alice felt sowhat uncomfortable, but her upbringing did not allow her to refuse Claud Laurence at this mont...
Her hand, amidst hesitation, rested on Claud Laurence’s shoulder.
Claud Laurence was very gentlemanly, not standing too close, ensuring she felt not the slightest discomfort.
Afraid that her unease and nervousness might make her lose composure before Claud Laurence, Alice apologized to him, "Sorry, I’m not very good at dancing..."
Claud Laurence looked at her and softly said, "It’s alright, it’s my first ti dancing with a girl too."
Alice slowly looked up at Claud Laurence.
If before she rely thought Claud Laurence was good-looking, at this mont, she was truly struck by how handso his well-defined features were.
A face chiseled like sculpture, dense brows, dark eyes, a high nose bridge, thin lips...
