Chapter 887: 277. Go with the flow.
“How could the Deep Sea Branch do such a thing?” Denise Green said indignantly:
“These spells were all researched by Noland Lee himself, and he was even willing to share them with the Deep Sea Branch for a fee. Yet the Deep Sea Branch is thinking about studying his spells. Isn’t this behavior a little too despicable…”
Noland Lee raised his hand to rest it on Denise’s shoulder, speaking in a calming voice:
“Don’t be angry, Denise. It’s a minor issue. The actions of the Deep Sea Branch are all too normal. If I were them, I would also want to find a way to shake off the constraints of the trading partner.”
“Hmph…” Denise huffed in frustration:
“Anyway, I just can’t stand the way the Deep Sea Branch operates…”
...
Noland Lee patted the back of Denise’s head and looked toward Selena, who was gazing at him:
“You too, Selena, don’t be angry or anxious. I anticipated this situation.
“According to Law No. 1 of the Ulnas Circle, an inventor only has absolute control over an alchemical creation after it has been recognized by the Departnt of Magic.
“My inventions, like ‘Thundercloud Technique,’ the magic crystal tube, chanos, among other things, have not been recognized by the Departnt of Magic and therefore are not protected by the law. The actions of the Deep Sea Branch are logically sound and legally valid, only morally questionable.”
Selena said:
“The matter of assembling Combat Wizards has always been handled by Lonco. He just told today that there would be two Saint Level Combat Wizards with malicious intentions observing the battle. All of this was arranged by my father. What should we do now?”
“Selena, let ask you a question first,” Noland Lee said:
“So far, the Tams have only heard of my ‘Thundercloud Technique’ and haven’t witnessed its thunder and lightning display. In such a case, could they create a spell similar to the ‘Thundercloud Technique’ based on rumors? To put it another way, without a successful case to reference, do the Tams have the capability to research a magic spell independently?”
Selena fell into thought:
“Hmm… You an to develop a spell entirely from imagination, without any successful examples to reference?”
“Yes,” Noland nodded.
Selena shook her head slightly:
“That’s impossible, Jarvis. The Tams have only two approaches to developing spells. Either they mimic natural phenona to invent corresponding spells, or they study Extraordinary Abilities not protected by Ulnas Ring Law and use Magic ans to replicate them, creating spells or magical devices. Without sothing to reference, the Tams cannot invent spells.”
Selena paused and then asked:
“Do you want to divert those two Saint Level Combat Wizards? This… this will be difficult to achieve. And it won’t be just them present at the battle scene. Other Combat Wizards, too, will have the ability to record your casting scene to so extent. They can still provide the Tams with the information needed for developing spells.”
“No, Selena, I have no intention of diverting anyone,” Noland said with a light chuckle:
“Everyone who attempts to mimic ‘Thundercloud Technique’ and chanos will undoubtedly fail. Denise, you must have a deep understanding of this.”
Denise nodded rapidly:
“Right, right, right, they will definitely fail. I have helped Noland make many chanos over these past ten days, and I’ve also tried controlling them myself. I am very clear that aside from Noland and those authorized by him, everyone else will fail to replicate the ‘Thundercloud Technique’ and chanos.”
“Why…” Selena lowered her gaze to the chanos at her feet.
It was a relatively simple alchemical creation.
It looked sowhat like a water drop, about half a ter in length and no more than twenty centiters in diater.
Its propulsion underwater ca from the Water Flow Array near the pointed end of its tail.
Its power, however, ca from the Capacitor Pack at the head, containing over 500,000 units of Thunder and Lightning Energy that could instantly penetrate the defense system of a Seventh Ring Combat Wizard.
Was this thing difficult to copy?
No.
Selena only needed to observe it for half a minute to understand its workings completely.
If the Tams got a hold of Noland’s chanos, they could probably apply for a patent with the Departnt of Magic in no more than three days.
Then Noland Lee, the true inventor, would ironically beco the Wizard Criminal who plagiarized the Tams.
At this thought, worry reappeared in Selena’s eyes.
Seeing her silent, Noland took out a Magic Ring from his Magic Pouch and handed it to her:
“Here, take this, Selena. There are two ways to control chanos. The first is with the Control Gloves from the Golden Federation. The second is through ntal Magic.
“This Magic Ring I’m giving you was bought from the market, enchanted with ‘Mind Beacon’ and ‘Mind Control’ by a Saint Level Mind Wizard. Try controlling my chanos with it.”
Selena took the ring, held it in her palm, and activated it.
She, being well-inford, mastered the skill of controlling the chanos without Noland’s guidance.
First, cast ‘Mind Beacon’ to turn the mindless chanos into a target for ntal Magic.
Next, cast ‘Mind Control’ targeting the chanos to seize its control rights.
“Ah…” Suddenly Selena let out a pained cry, trembling as if electrocuted.
She forcibly interrupted the spell and took several deep breaths to calm her Full moon-touched nerves, beads of sweat appearing on her forehead.
Denise used a handkerchief to wipe away the perspiration for Selena and said:
