Chapter 1007: 313. Noland does good deeds_3
This situation was very different from that of the other laborers.
The completeness of other laborers’ mory fragnts ranged only from 1% to 5%, while Xander’s was as high as 50%.
Xander also had a companion nad Evelyn Thatcher.
Day after day, they waited for help from Baldur’s Gate, but it never ca.
Instead, the City of Exiles welcod a few important figures of mysterious origins.
These important figures resided in the Upper City Area and never showed themselves in the Lower Town.
...
Yet all the magic materials they required were gathered by the laborers of the Lower Town.
With their arrival, the daily workload of the laborers increased exponentially. It was only when they left that the laborers’ workload returned to normal.
This was how Xander and Evelyn Thatcher deduced that important persons had arrived in the town.
“Important figures… hmm, could they be that group of Black Robes appearing in Xander’s mory fragnts?”
Noland Lee rubbed his chin, his gaze flickering:
“A group of Black Robes wielding Death Magic visiting the City of Exiles and using detection spells to pick out the laborers they want.
“My intuition tells they are selecting subjects for a Magic Experint.
“Evelyn Thatcher ets the experint’s criteria; she was taken away by the Supervisor, while those like Xander, who do not et the criteria, were sent out of the city right under my nose to construct a Magic Barrier. They are using the laborers unfit for experints as cannon fodder…”
Due to the ethical education he received before crossing over, Noland Lee had a favorable impression of those who clung to the desire to survive in dire circumstances.
He did not mind lending a hand to Xander and Evelyn Thatcher.
If possible, he would help Xander return to Ground Level.
As for Evelyn Thatcher… her fate was in the hands of the heavens.
“Nolin, prepare to start work,” Noland Lee said, looking towards the chanos beside him.
While he had been observing the laborers, Nolin had been checking the status of the chanos.
“Yes, Sir. Your existing 1,500 chanos are in good condition, ready for combat at any ti.”
Noland Lee nodded and inford Nolin of Xander’s existence.
He instructed her to dispatch the chanos to protect Xander imdiately after the battle began and to safely remove him from the battlefield.
Nolin accepted this task.
Noland Lee pulled up the “Tracking Mark” Spell List and estimated the current position of the Labor Force, throwing “Mind View” towards the nearest “Tracking Mark.”
Magic Vision unfolded in Noland Lee’s mind.
Noland Lee planned to communicate with Xander using “Mind Induction” beforehand to avoid any accidents during the upcoming action.
If he accidentally hard Xander, it could be quite troubleso.
But before Noland Lee could locate Xander, a chilling sensation suddenly appeared in his heart.
“Damn, soone is about to discover my ‘Tracking Mark’!”
Without a second thought, Noland Lee shut down “Mind View” and erased the “Tracking Mark” near the Labor Force.
His expression beca slightly grave.
As he contemplated, there must have been high-level shadow death enforcers among the Labor Force.
Otherwise, his use of “Mind View” to observe a group of weak laborers would not possibly have triggered his psychic alarm.
Given the intensity and urgency of the ntal alarm, it was highly probable that the high-level shadow death scout mixed in with the Labor Force was of the Eighth Ring.
“I thought so; the City of Exiles wouldn’t send over a group of laborers for nothing. These laborers serve as cannon fodder to deplete the enemy’s strength and also as a disguise. If I were to treat them rely as laborers, I could be caught off guard by high-level shadow death enforcers hidden among them. Good thing I was ntally prepared.”
