Phoebe Turner involuntarily took a step back after hearing her, her face extrely shocked.
"Sis, do you really have to be so ruthless?"
"Phoebe Turner, watch your words! It’s you who refuses to repent, not being ruthless! From the day you and your mother married my dad, you know exactly how you’ve treated ! I, Laura Quincy, have never repaid kindness with enmity, nor have I done anything to you for no reason. As a person, it’s better to have a little self-awareness!"
Laura Quincy spat these words coldly, then shook off Phoebe Turner and left.
When she got ho, she hesitated about whether to call Jason Hawthorne to find out what was going on, but worried that doing so would create another link between them.
As she hesitated, her phone suddenly rang.
It was her friend Nina Pierce calling, and she quickly picked up, "Nina."
"Laura, how did the interview go? Are you getting used to life these days?"
"The interview seems unreliable, life is just like this, although I’ve forgotten six years of mories, fortunately, the knowledge and skills I learned haven’t been forgotten, in a way, that’s a precious asset! Skills that erged out of thin air."
Laura’s tone was very relaxed, with a hint of self-mockery.
At this point, she could only accept the reality, besides accepting, there was nothing she could do about the six years she forgot...
She couldn’t keep living in her imagined world of when she was 20 years old!
Nina Pierce lanted, "Laura, I’ve suddenly realized that this version of you is quite good, still retaining the college personality, combined with the you of six years later, it’s quite different!"
Laura self-deprecatingly said, "I hope it hasn’t made dumber!"
Nina Pierce was almost amused by her words, "Of course not! More vibrant! With a few unpolished edges! That’s sothing many people can only dream of!"
Laura sighed, "Yes! How many people want their mories to go back six years just like mine, but I’d rather ti go back with my mories to six years ago, wouldn’t that be great!"
Nina Pierce was stunned for a second, if Laura’s ti went back six years, would she want to et Jason Hawthorne again or completely cut ties with him?
Was her accident and mory loss related to Jason Hawthorne? After all, what happened in the sumr vacation of sophomore year was like a nightmare for Laura...
Who knows what her mood will be once she rembers again...
After a pause, Laura asked, "Nina, I want to ask you sothing, do you know what my stepmother and stepsister did to in these six years?"
Nina Pierce’s heart sank, "Why are you asking this all of a sudden? Did you rember sothing, Laura?"
Laura shook her head, "No. I just ran into Phoebe Turner downstairs, she said she and her mother are living in Prosperity Village now and begged to ask Jason Hawthorne to bring them back..."
Nina Pierce urgently said, "Laura, you didn’t agree, did you?"
Laura replied, "Of course not, although I don’t rember exactly what happened, with my personality, I wouldn’t do this to them for no reason, they must have done sothing to wrong . Nina, do you know?"
Nina Pierce quickly said, "Laura, your guess is right, they just went too far! People like that should suffer in the countryside! You don’t need to pay attention to them."
Laura asked suspiciously, "Nina, you do know what happened, right?"
Nina Pierce scratched her hair, feeling so conflicted! How should she explain it to Laura? Should she break the truth before Laura rembers herself?
No! Doing that would be too unfair to Laura!
"I don’t know the specifics, but it’s definitely nothing good! That mother and daughter duo, besides bullying you, what else would they do? Just plotting against you in front of your dad, trying to completely kick you out, take over the company your grandfather worked so hard to establish, even coveting the house your mom left you..."
"What? They actually tried to seize the house my mother left ? Haven’t they taken enough? Such insatiable greed!"
Hearing this, Laura was utterly enraged, how could there be such shaless mother and daughter?
Nina Pierce imdiately comforted her, "Laura, don’t be too angry, that mother and daughter have bullied you for so many years, it’s ti for them to face retribution."
Laura bit her lip, "Was it who told Jason Hawthorne?"
Nina Pierce was stumped by her question, "Well... I think he probably figured it out himself! While pursuing you, he would certainly care about everything related to you, punishing that mother and daughter on your behalf is reasonable, you don’t need to overthink it."
Laura didn’t speak, remained silent for a few seconds, "Nina, why was I interested in a man with a child? Was I blind or was my head ssed up? Was it just because he had power and influence?"
Nina Pierce sighed in her heart, Laura, what should I do? How should I do the right thing? I know Twinkle is your own son and yet I can’t tell you now, I...
Nina Pierce let out a long sigh, endlessly conflicted inside...
"Laura, there’s no why when it cos to feelings, maybe it was just a montary impulse or hormonal attraction..."
Even Nina Pierce herself couldn’t convince herself with this explanation.
But at this mont, what better explanation was there?
Laura basically believed her explanation, feelings are inherently unclear...
Just after hanging up the phone, the phone rang again.
Laura glanced at the caller ID, and upon seeing the word "Jason," she was stunned for several seconds before reacting...
Dammit! She actually forgot to change this note!
After staring at the phone for a few seconds, she picked it up to answer, though she didn’t really want to, but then she rembered he helped her, and since she knew, she had to say "thank you."
