Crystal Langley nodded proudly, "Of course! Young Master Thorne cos from a family of diplomats."

Laura Quincy understood, "I see!"

The two gossiped for a while, and then Crystal returned to her seat, suddenly realizing she hadn’t managed to extract any useful information from Laura’s mouth.

In the break room, Laura made herself a cup of instant coffee. Violet Whitman happened to walk in, and upon seeing her, smiled and nodded as a greeting.

After a few minutes of silence, Violet shyly spoke up, "I’m sorry! You just happened to hear us talking about you when you ca in. The three of us didn’t an anything by it, really."

Her apology brought a slight warmth to Laura’s heart, and she curved her lips into a smile, "It’s fine."

In the workplace, there are no eternal enemies or friends. Since she was new, she couldn’t afford to make enemies.

Three days later, Laura had basically gotten a clear picture of the translation departnt. Both Group One and Group Two were in an awkward phase after their glorious past, with no personnel changes, no one coming or going.

There are three reasons: One, no matter what, it’s still Aegis Group’s translation departnt, being here is better than being at another company; Two, finding an opportunity to transfer to Group Three; Three, waiting for the glorious mont to return, because fortunes are always changing!

As the trusted team of the CEO, Group Three was of course flourishing. There were about a dozen translators in the group, each one a graduate of a prestigious university, making Laura seem sowhat out of place.

Thankfully, not all translators were on standby in the office; many were on business trips daily. When they ca back, they would be on vacation and didn’t have to co to work every day.

So far, Laura had only t two or three colleagues: one was Chester Chadwick, a senior fluent in German from F University, five classes ahead of her; another was Simon Dempsey, proficient in Japanese and Korean, with a high degree and a good family background; and the other was Jared Zane, a talented individual fluent in multiple languages like Russian and Ukrainian...

After work, when Laura got ho, she received a call from her boyfriend Jasper Hawthorne, "Laura, I’ve been so busy these days with etings from morning till night. The content is confidential, and I can’t even bring my phone. You won’t bla for not calling, right?"

Laura could hear a hint of fatigue in his voice, "Of course not! Just make sure to spend quality ti with when you get back."

Jasper nodded, his voice gentle, "Of course, I’ll be back in three days, and I’ll agree to any compensation you want."

Instant sweetness filled Laura’s heart, "Okay, you said it!"

The couple hadn’t talked for several days, so there were a lot of sweet nothings to exchange. Laura was thinking of sharing her experiences over the last few days with her boyfriend but didn’t want to spoil the sweet atmosphere between them with unpleasant matters, deciding to wait until he returned to discuss it.

"How’s the job hunting going? With my Laura being so capable, those big companies you applied to should be fighting over you, right?"

"If you praise any more, I’ll get cocky! I’ll tell you all about it when you get back."

"Okay." Jasper paused, his voice tender and lingering, "Laura, I miss you."

Laura felt the sweetness in her heart, smiling with delight, " too..."

The two quietly listened to each other’s breathing, feeling the affection between them, reluctant to say "good night." But it was dayti during Jasper’s peak work hours, so he reluctantly ended the call.
