Laura Quincy really wished she could kick him, that shaless jerk! And to think she was worried about his stomach issues, he showed up and twisted facts to tease her!
It’s too much!
She shouldn’t have softened her heart towards him!
Laura Quincy got angrier the more she thought about it, yet being held by him, she couldn’t move, and the feeling of having injuries was terribly awful, still at soone else’s rcy!
Jason Hawthorne stared unblinkingly at her ever-changing expressions, and suddenly said with infinite affection, "Laura, I miss you so much."
His voice, deep and magnetic, was so sexy it felt like it could make soone pregnant...
Laura, her face flushed with sha, spat irritably, "Let go of !"
Does he think she’s so seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl? So easy to coax! Believing whatever he says?
Absolutely wishful thinking!
Jason gently set her upright, his voice unusually tender, "Don’t squat down to pick things up while your foot’s still not healed, it’s too dangerous."
His tone full of concern actually made Laura feel a bit uneasy, she couldn’t quite put a finger on what she felt, she didn’t want to accept it, but being cared for... indeed felt nice.
"Mind your own business!"
Laura retorted stubbornly, why couldn’t won change this habit of having a soft heart!
Jason didn’t continue to bicker with her, his voice still gentle, "Is your body feeling better? Are you comfortable staying here?"
Laura: "..."
She swore she hated this feeling of hitting cotton with a punch the most, no matter how harsh her words were, he always t her with a gentle and soft concern...
This feeling was even worse than him being unreasonable!
"I said, mind your own business!"
Laura coldly threw this line at him, then turned around, using a crutch to head back to the ward, but the emotions in her eyes gave her away...
Jason was quite pleased to catch that inadvertent hint of emotion in her eyes, it seed Asher Thorne’s strategy this ti was sowhat effective.
Won are all prone to a soft heart, as long as you prescribe the right dicine, it’s not hard to breach the castle.
Laura walked very slowly, so Jason slowed his pace to follow her, ready at any mont to catch her if she stumbled...
His step-by-step manner made Laura even more agitated, she turned around irritably, "Aren’t you annoyed following ? What are you doing?"
Jason didn’t get angry, "In your current state, I can’t be at ease."
Another punch hitting cotton!
Laura clenched her fists, gritting her teeth, "We have no family ties, no relationship, there’s really no need for your concern! Can you please keep your distance from ?"
Before coming, Jason had already warned himself, no matter how impatient Laura was with him today, no matter how unpleasant her words were, he must endure, not get angry.
No matter her tone, he would respond to her gently.
This was the strategy.
"Even if you were a stranger, it would still be proper to see you safely back to the ward."
"..."
At this, Laura was truly speechless, a few days without seeing him, his thick-skinnedness had improved a lot, even she was at a loss for words.
After entering the ward, Laura was eager to shoo him away, "Now you can leave reassured, right!"
She emphasized the words "reassured."
Jason’s deep black eyes examined her for a full five seconds before shifting away, "Mm, rest well."
Then, he turned around and left.
Laura seed not to have reacted yet, this bastard, he actually just left?
Didn’t he always stick around pestering her? Insisting on getting into the room?
Why did he just leave like that today?
It wasn’t until his figure completely disappeared from view that Laura suddenly realized she had been staring at him for a long ti, then exasperatedly raked her fingers through her hair, what was happening to her?
His leaving without pestering was surely a good thing, it showed he knew his place!
Laura consoled herself while lying back on the hospital bed, but she couldn’t calm her mind...
As Jason turned and walked away, every step he took made him want to look back, but he held back; he could clearly feel the burning gaze following him...
Though he was reluctant, leaving at this mont was undoubtedly the best choice.
After entering the elevator, he took out his phone and dialed Asher Thorne, "This ti, your idea is actually pretty good!"
Asher, however, didn’t seem happy at all, and said with a mournful face, "Boss, your problem seems to be resolving quickly, but I’m in big trouble now."
Jason Hawthorne furrowed his brow, "What happened?"
Asher sighed, "It’s nothing but that Sophie Sutton! Do you rember the situation I described when I returned to the booth the night before last? Yesterday morning, to prove I wasn’t lying, White dragged to find Sophie Sutton, and she turned back to her old self, even saying she hadn’t seen the previous night. Do you think I’m seeing things?"
Jason asked suspiciously, "Could it be that the lighting was too dim, so you mistook soone who looked similar to Sophie Sutton for her?"
Asher imdiately exclaid, "How could that be?! Boss! Even you don’t believe ?"
Jason frowned, "It’s not that I don’t believe you, but there’s definitely sothing odd about this. Logically, Sophie Sutton wouldn’t need to deny having t you."
Asher was even more troubled, "That’s why I said it’s like seeing a ghost! I’m a hundred percent sure the woman I saw the night before last was Sophie Sutton. She even admitted it herself, but the next morning, she seed to have amnesia and totally forgot."
Jason thought for a mont, "You’ve suspected she might have a split personality, right? Why don’t you co to the hospital and ask John? I’m here right now."
Asher nodded repeatedly, "Okay, I’ll be right over!"
In John’s office.
The three n sat on separate sides of the sofa, and Asher, from the mont he entered, had a mournful look as if he had encountered a great disaster...
After listening to his description, John pondered for a mont before stating candidly, "To be honest, we can’t rule out the possibility of Sophie Sutton having a split personality disorder."
Hearing this, Asher felt like he was seeing a savior, but the next words made him completely deflated...
"But symptoms of split personality disorder always have a cause and don’t just occur without reason. Just based on your account and eting her once, we can’t make a diagnosis. I need to understand Sophie Sutton’s personality and her upbringing, of course. If possible, the best way is to bring her over to talk with ."
John spoke from a professional standpoint. As a doctor, he can’t casually diagnose soone’s condition.
Hearing his words, Asher felt deflated like a punctured ball and slumped onto the sofa, "Getting Sophie Sutton to co over and talk to you is harder than climbing to the heavens! White would never allow to take his precious sister for hypnosis treatnt."
John took a sip of his tea, "In that case, we can only wait for a second chance. If you happen to et her again, call right away, and I’ll try to be there."
Asher almost spat out the water he just drank, "I’d rather pray I never run into the sharp-tongued Sophie Sutton again; I can’t handle it!"
Jason, who hadn’t spoken all this while, suddenly interjected, "The video recording from the night before last should still exist. Go check it out. It might help."
Asher instantly slapped his thigh, "That’s right! Why didn’t I think of that? It’s all because White’s threats were so terrifying they nearly made forget to think straight."
Jason raised an eyebrow, "What did he threaten you with?"
Asher put on a bitter face, "He threatened that I must not tell anyone about that night on one hand, and on the other, he’s threatening to secretly get to the bottom of this, or else it’s not over between us. Do you think I’ve got really bad luck? If I had known, I should have kept quiet that night."
Then he got up, "Forget it. It’s all tears when I think about it! I’ll go check the video now. Hopefully, once White sees the evidence, he’ll realize I was wronged."
He left feeling plenty of heartache, more convinced than ever that Sophie Sutton was his nesis, soone he couldn’t afford to provoke!
The New Year was quickly approaching, and all the news he received on his phone revolved around it, like the Spring Festival Travel Rush and stocking up on New Year’s goods...
Laura Quincy looked at all this indifferently, unable to recall how many years she had spent New Year’s Eve alone. In the beginning, her dad would call and ask her to co ho for dinner, but after a few unpleasant tis, she didn’t want to go, and they just stopped bothering to ask her.
So to her, celebrating the New Year was rely about watching others enjoy themselves...
This year, she would probably be spending it in the hospital.
So bleak!
As she pondered this, her phone suddenly rang. The number looked like a landline, and Laura rembered it to possibly be her father’s office phone.
"Hello?"
"Laura! It’s Dad. How’s your health? Your phone was unreachable the past few days, and I thought you didn’t want to be disturbed, which is why I’m calling now. You’re not mad at Dad, are you?"
Victor Turner’s tone was cautious, as if afraid of offending this enigmatic elder daughter.
Laura had no interest in exchanging pleasantries with him and asked straightforwardly, "Did you need sothing?"
Her cold tone left Victor montarily stunned, "Laura, Dad indeed did many things that wronged you in the past. I know I was wrong. We have a blood bond as father and daughter, and I believe your mother’s soul in heaven wouldn’t want to see us like this..."
He was interrupted coldly by Laura, "Don’t ntion my mother in front of ; you’re not worthy!"
Victor was left speechless, "I wronged both of you. I know I was wrong. With the New Year coming, I hope we can all reunite for a al."
Laura felt a flood of mixed emotions, "Dad, I’m not mobile at the mont, so I probably can’t make it back. You all enjoy the al."
She said it diplomatically enough, indirectly declining Victor Turner’s offer.
Yet Victor didn’t seem discouraged, "Laura, which hospital are you in? I’ll co over right now."
Laura calmly refused, "No need."
Victor deeply sensed his eldest daughter’s rejection of him; this was all his own doing, and now it seed incredibly difficult to win back her heart.
"Laura, your Auntie Leighton has also been working hard cleaning on the streets these days. With the New Year approaching, could you ask the Fourth Young Master if she could take a few days off?"
