Asher’s brows involuntarily furrowed slightly; jumping off a building?
If it were soone else, he wouldn’t care at all, but she’s White’s beloved sister, and he had a gentleman’s agreent with White previously.
Originally, they both thought that if they just ignored her, treated her coldly, she’d back down. But instead...
It had the opposite effect.
After all, she’s a friend’s sister, he can’t let anything happen to her.
Just as he stood up, he heard Landon Linden speak, "Asher, aren’t you afraid she’ll take the opportunity to force you into marriage once you’re up there?"
Asher glanced at him askew, "Do I seem like the kind of person who easily gives in to pressure?"
Landon Linden shrugged, "She’s using jumping off the building to force you up there, and here you are."
Asher rolled his eyes, "Would you rather I just watch her jump off the building? Do you think White wouldn’t point a gun at us once he finds out?"
Landon Linden coughed, "What does it have to do with ?"
Asher scoffed, "Don’t you know bystanders can be guilty too? If you weren’t here, you’d be fine. But here you are, aware of Sophie Sutton’s jumping threat, ignoring it wouldn’t fly, right?"
Landon Linden: "..."
Alright then! Looks like he has to get involved...
Asher didn’t respond and directly stepped out of the office, taking the elevator to the rooftop, arriving just as the doors closed.
Was he having an unlucky day?
No wonder Sarah Sterling hadn’t answered his calls all morning...
On the rooftop.
A crowd had already gathered, and seeing Mr. Thorne co personally, they quickly made way.
Sophie Sutton had climbed onto a small stone tower at the edge of the wall, sitting there. The spot wasn’t decidedly dangerous but wasn’t spacious either; this skyscraper had over sixty floors, and sitting there made one dizzy just looking down.
It’s dangerous!
Sophie Sutton initially just wanted to sit alone on the rooftop. It all stemd from feeling down; although she got to work at Thorne Group as she wished, she couldn’t even see Asher Thorne!
Even when she did et him, he treated her with indifference as if she were a stranger...
After more than ten days of this, her heart beca unbearably sad, so she went to the rooftop alone.
So colleague must have spotted her, thinking she was going to jump off, madly whipped out their phone to call other colleagues, and then the rumor spread like wildfire...
Since everyone thought she was going to jump, she decided to let them believe it.
Let her recklessly go wild just this once!
"Sophie, be a good girl and co down,"
Asher said softly, suppressing his patience.
Sophie Sutton couldn’t be happier seeing him actually co. Turns out, Asher Thorne did care about her; he rushed over as soon as he heard she was going to jump.
She was overjoyed.
Joy filled her heart, and as she prepared to jump down, sothing suddenly struck her mind, and she tilted her head saying, "I want you to co over and carry down."
Sophie Sutton’s outrageous request caused everyone present to gasp, even Connor Sterling couldn’t help but admire her audacity!
Asher’s hand clenched tightly, but he knew he couldn’t refuse.
If she really stumbled off...
Police cars had already arrived downstairs, along with a swarm of reporters.
Sophie Sutton naively peeked at the cars and people below that looked like tiny ants, couldn’t help but swallow her spit, realizing if she fell, she’d be pulverized.
She hadn’t lived enough yet; she didn’t want to die!
Things got this way all because of a misunderstanding; she impulsively insisted on calling Asher over...
When Landon Linden arrived, he happened to hear her request and leaned closer to Asher whispering, "I think you better comply. What if she jumps for real after being rejected? We won’t be able to face White then."
While saying this, he deeply regretted coming to find Asher at this mont. Truly, he hadn’t picked the right day to go out; it originally had nothing to do with him, but because he was present, he was now accountable...
Really felt like a trap fell right from the sky!
Asher’s face was dark and solemn, moving forward towards Sophie Sutton.
Seeing him approach step by step, Sophie Sutton couldn’t be happier, her eyes fluttering with pink heart-shaped sparkles.
"Asher Thorne, you care about , right?"
"Give your hand."
Asher didn’t directly answer but demanded her hand.
Sophie Sutton wasn’t that dumb, "No! Answer first!"
"Give your hand!"
Asher’s patience was nearly exhausted by her.
"Asher Thorne..."
Tears suddenly filled Sophie Sutton’s eyes as she was yelled at, fearfully looking at Asher, her right leg unconsciously stepped back.
The sight made everyone draw a deep breath.
It was terrifyingly thrilling!
Asher took a deep breath, his voice as gentle as possible, "Obey, give your hand."
His tenderness made Sophie Sutton feel much better inside; hesitantly she glanced at him, stepped forward, and extended her right hand.
Asher stepped forward and grasped her hand, afraid she’d ask more questions, his patience was nearly depleted...
Being held by the man she loved felt amazing, Sophie Sutton felt as though she might float off any mont, happily collapsing into his embrace.
But within a minute, Asher had set her back on the ground.
She pleaded, "Asher Thorne, my legs are weak, my head is dizzy."
Asher was frustrated by her unreasonable request, he didn’t want to hit on a friend’s sister, no matter how flirtatious he was. Not liking ans not liking, giving her hope ant hurting her.
He coldly said, "Connor, take Miss Sutton for a thorough check-up at the hospital."
Connor Sterling: "..."
This troubleso task fell upon him after all...
Upon hearing this, Sophie Sutton quickly grabbed Asher’s hand, "Asher Thorne, did you trick into coming down on purpose? No way! I want to go back..."
Asher scanned the onlookers with a cold eye, "Everyone get down!"
Under the boss’s strong presence, the crowd instantly dispersed, leaving only Connor Sterling and Landon Linden along the sideline.
Sophie Sutton stubbornly sat on the ground, demanding to go back to jump.
Asher threw down a harsh line, "Sophie Sutton! Keep making a fuss, and I’ll have HR terminate you now! Even if your brother and grandfather call this ti, it won’t work!"
Upon hearing this, Sophie Sutton’s lips quivered and she burst into tears...
