The ti he spent with his kind and loving mother. The peaceful days they spent together that she would shower him with love and care. That was all before his mother changed as the responsibility of being the empress ate at her and killed her slowly from the inside out.

“I wish that you had never been born! It’s because of you that I’m stuck here...” his mother scread at him.

“Mother...” Ren whispered in shock.

“Don’t call that. Why did you have to be born? Why? Why did you have to be born?! Why?!” she scread louder hysterically as she started to cry.

“Mother...please stop...” the boy whispered.

“Don’t touch ! Soone...is soone there? Take him away! Take him away from !” the previous empress yelled as if crying desperately for help.

The dream always ended the sa with the little boy being pulled away by many maids from his mother. The boy sobbed and cried but in the end, he was taken to his room where he would be far away from his mother. Ren knew that while the boy was crying in his room, the dream would co to an end.

Ren sat up in bed with a start. He was right, the sa dream always ended the sa way and tonight was no different than the others.

“Are you ok? Did you...have a nightmare?” Rin said and he could see the worry in her face as she reached out and touched a hand to his cheek.

Slowly, he covered her hand with his own, feeling the warmth of her palm against his cheek.

“No...” he lied so that she wouldn’t have to worry. Also, he wasn’t sure if seeing a bad mory in his sleep on repeat would count as dreaming.

“Ok...umm...do you...want to hold you?” Rin offered in a small and shy voice.

He could see that she was uncomfortable about her own offer, but she decided to do it anyways to make him feel better and for that he felt extrely thankful.

“Yes...” Ren replied simply.

Rin smiled a little at him before she scooted closer and wrapped her arms around his body. The feel of her naked skin on his felt good and he smiled as he started playing with a strand of her hair absentmindedly. Thankfully, Rin didn’t ask him any more questions. He didn’t want to tell her about the haunting mories of his past; he just hoped that she wouldn’t have to go through what his mother did. That was all.

When he looked down at Rin’s face again, she had already fallen asleep. Her eyelids were closed, and she was breathing regularly. His eyes wandered down her body to her still-flat belly and he sighed a sigh of relief. Before his thought would darken further, he covered her body with the blanket. He knew why he had that dream, and he also knew that sleeping with Rin every night like this wasn’t right but it was hard for him to stop himself...

...

“My Lady?” a maid called out to from in front of my bedroom door.

“Co in,” I said softly.

“Are you not going out today, My Lady?” the maid asked politely.

“I’m...not feeling well,” I admitted softly.

“Should I get a doctor?” the maid asked sounding a little panicked.

“No...it’s...that ti of the month...” I replied a little shyly.

“Oh...excuse . I’ll prepare so cloth for you right away...” the maid said quickly.

“Thank you...” I thanked her softly.

I heaved a loud sigh after the maid had left. Being a woman is so difficult. Being a woman with an irregular bleeding interval was worst. I knew from a long ti ago that my ti of the month wasn’t regular and that had made predicting its arrival extrely difficult for . I never knew if my bleeding was here early, late or on ti. It had never bothered , and I never thought that it would until now...

Since I didn’t rember when was the last ti that I bled, I was worried and eagerly waiting for my bleeding ti to arrive. All so that I could confirm that I was not pregnant with Ren’s child. The usually dreaded mont of the start of my monthly bleeding had turned into a mont of relief lately.

I placed a hand over my slightly aching stomach and sighed once again in relief. Thankfully, I had sohow survived another month without getting with child...

...

A few days later, I was able to go out again and live life like normal. My bleeding had stopped completely, and life resud as normal. I was walking along the hallway while on my way back to my room in the early evening when I heard loud chatting. It must be the maids...

“The sumr festival is here again!”

“I can’t wait to go to town. I want to go shopping. I’ve been saving up for this!”

“ too. Last year there were so many rchants there with new clothes and shoes,”

“I look forward to the snacks that they’ll bring in from the different cities. Those are the best and it’s only available during the festival,”

“I heard that this year there will be many dance performances...oh and music too!”

“Oh...Good evening, My Lady,” a maid said when she noticed .

“Good morning. Is there going to be a festival in town? Sorry, I overhead your conversation,” I asked, excited to hear more about it.

“Yes, My Lady. There’s a festival going on right now. It will last for only three days...” the maid replied politely.

“Where is it?” I asked.

“It’s held at the sa place every year, My Lady. The central square is where the festival is held,” the maid replied with a small smile.

“I see. Thank you. I have to go now, have a nice evening,” I said brightly before walking off.

The festival sounds so exciting. Without knowing, I had started to wish to go to the festival. However, the festival was located outside of the palace. If I wanted to go then, I must get permission from Ren. I wondered if he would allow it or would he think that going to a festival was nonsense. Work had been so busy for both of us, and I felt that it might be a good thing if we took a break.
