Chapter 572: “Is It a Coincidence?”
"If I were to connect my world to Diyu, then the dead would no longer arrive in this Ghost Realm, but instead they would travel to Diyu where they will be judged according to their sins before entering the wheel of resurrection."
Xue Wei nodded his head when he heard Lan’s words. That was what he had expected, and while it would be the most beneficial solution for those living beings, it would also sentence the souls within the Ghost Realm to death.
No new souls would be introduced, which would naturally result in a slow but certain decline in the number of the ghosts, and eventually, even the strongest ghost would succumb to the lack of energy.
"That ox-headed man who helped us arrive in the Ghost Realm, he seed to have the ability to open and close the gates. Is there any way to convince them to expel all souls from this world?
"If they were to return to the living world, they would likely beco a new type of spirits. While they were human once, they no longer possess a human body, but I believe that it would be possible to create such bodies with enough resources.
"Even if they do not gain a living body, they will still be able to live as souls, and they might even convert their energy into the sa as those of living cultivators.
"When we reach the Deity rank, we no longer use a body of flesh and blood, so if their power is no longer suppressed by the laws, then they should also be able to beco deities at so point?"
Lan’s eyes narrowed. He did rember that Ox-headed figure from before, but he had never really considered his position in the Ghost Realm.
If the Ghost Realm was a failed dinsion created by the Black Turtle Clan, then what were the identities of these guardians? Why would they ensure that only a Rulebreaker was capable of entering their dinsion, and for what purpose had they put down the laws to block the advancent of these ghosts?
Lan went closer to the Formation of Life. He had taken it for granted that it was not owned by anyone before, but sothing made him feel as if the Ghost Realm might not be ownerless.
He had no doubt that the Ghost Realm was created by the Black Turtle Clan, and he also understood the mindset of these beasts enough to know that they would not stage their own demise, so they had naturally failed.
But after their failure, had anyone arrived and done sothing to the Ghost Realm? What could their purpose be?
Lan began to inject his energy into the Formation of Life as one would if they wanted to take possession of a world, but he soon encountered a stumbling block.
As he had just expected, the Ghost Realm was not an ownerless world!
However, since it was not ownerless, what was the purpose of those who had taken it over? The more he thought about these questions, the more doubtful he beca.
"What do you rember about the Ox-headed expert that opened the gates for us?"
Lan’s brows were furrowed as he looked at Xue Wei, but the young man rely shook his head.
"I don’t seem to rember anything out of place or important about him."
"The Ghost Realm already has a deity controlling it, but from the current looks, it does not seem as if the deity has any intentions of helping this world prosper."
Xue Wei had not expected that there would be anyone who would bother to own this realm, and he felt more and more perplexed.
"Actually, this person might have been the real cause for the realm to look like this now."
Xue Wei suddenly realized so things which had puzzled him before.
"The Black Turtle Clan created the Ghost Realm for the sake of helping those who died to continue existing in this world, but there is a limit to one’s cultivation in this world.
"If the Black Turtle Clan truly wished to help, they should have done their utmost to support these ghosts in becoming deities, as they would then be able to co to life once more.
"However, the laws are very strict, and throughout the past ten thousand years, it has not been possible for anyone to ascend from this Ghost Realm."
Lan suddenly caught an important ssage in Xue Wei’s words.
"Did you say that it is roughly ten thousand years since no one has ascended?"
"Yes. I asked about this before, and the legends tell that long ago, if one reached a high enough rank, then they could break apart the wall of this realm and leave."
Lan’s brows furrowed even further than previously, and he could not help but think that things were far too coincidental.
"Mo Lian died around ten thousand years ago. When she died, I was in a panic to get her back, but after knowing that the Ghost Realm was impossible to enter without a Rulebreaker, I have been looking for one for ten thousand years.
"The fact that I have been searching for a Rulebreaker is no secret, and many know my purpose for looking for one.
"If it was possible for Ghosts to ascend back into the cultivation world previously, then it might be intentional that the realm suddenly got shut off from the rest of the universe, but this theory will only make sense if the one who took control of the world was aware of or planned on your existence."
Xue Wei frowned deeply. He had previously felt as if he was a puppet, but he had never been completely certain.
Even with this theory, he could not be sure, but he knew that if anyone was silently controlling things from the shadows, then that person was far too horrifying as he was able to plan so many years in advance.
