In the end Michael decided to return to his office. Apart from his parents, there was one other person who lied to him by pretending not to know that he and Sarah were divorced. That's Jas.
No matter how curious Michael was right now about what his ex-wife really wanted, Michael still couldn't believe that Jas would do this to him too.
He was already considered that man like a friend, and even a brother. How could he betray him like this?
"Jas, co with to my room!" said Michael as he walked past Jas who looked busy with his work. He couldn't even stop for a second and ask him nicely. He was really angry right now.
Jas, who was still sitting in his place, looked confused. He could feel the anger in Michael's tone. However, what happened? Why is his boss angry?
With a look of confusion evident on his face, Jas finally stood up and headed for Michael's room.
When he got there, he could see Michael sitting in his place, his hands resting on the table supporting his drooping forehead. Jas swallowed hard, this was the first ti he had seen Michael in this state in so many years, it seed the current matter was really serious.
"Michael? What is it?" Jas asked worriedly. He subconsciously called his boss by his na and not sir. It seed he subconsciously wanted to position himself as his friend.
Michael lifted his head and looked at Jas, the man he had been with all this ti. His eyes looked sad.
"Jas, how long have we been friends?" asked Michael in a voice that sounded a little hoarse.
Jas' face still looked confused, why did Michael suddenly ask this? Hadn't he previously said that he had rembered it? Did he suddenly rember sothing again?
"About five years," answered Jas who was still standing in front of Michael's desk with a worried look on his face.
Michael nodded his head slowly when he heard that. He and Jas have been together for five years. During that ti, they had a lot to go through. Jas was always by his side when he went through everything that happened in his life.
That man… was that important to him, like a brother.
"Then why did you betray ?" Michael asked. His facial expression suddenly turned cold with a sharp look in his eyes.
The woman he loved had betrayed him, and now his friend was doing the sa to him. Couldn't he trust anyone else in this world anymore? Why is he always betrayed by the people around him?
Jas looked surprised then looked confused.
"What do you an? I never betrayed you. Do you think I embezzled money or sothing?" Jas asked. His facial expression looked a little hurt.
He didn't know how Michael could accuse him of betraying him when he hadn't done anything to betray Michael.
Michael shook his head, then sighed.
"My mory has returned. The package from the court that you got was my decree absolute and it made rember everything," Michael explained.
Once again Jas looked taken aback by what Michael had just said.
"What…" He, who wanted to ask how Michael was doing, was suddenly cut off by the man.
"Why didn't you tell that I was divorced? You ca to my apartnt! I'm really disappointed, Jas! Can I still trust you?!" asked Michael subconsciously, raising his voice.
Right now, he was really hurt by what Jas did. He could understand why his parents didn't tell him anything because his ex-wife persuaded them.
But how could Jas not say anything to him either? Not only did he see Sarah in his apartnt, the woman also ca to his office! Jas had plenty of opportunities to tell him the truth!
Jas' eyes widened when he heard Michael yell at him. This was the first ti he had yelled at him and looked angry at him like this. Looks like Michael is really disappointed with what he did.
"I apologize!" said Jas, looking down. Right now he didn't know what to say other than apologize to Michael.
"I don't need my apology!" Michael said then sighed. "Just tell why you did that! You know that the woman and I were divorced!" continued Michael.
Jas lifted his head again and looked at Michael.
"Mrs. Collins… I an, Mrs. Smith, asked not to tell you that you two were divorced," said Jas, rembering his eting with Sarah when he was about to co ho after eting Michael at his apartnt.
"What?" Michael had no idea that Jas did it because of Sarah.
In fact, what did she want from him? Why did she ask everyone not to tell him the truth?
"Then why did you obey her? Did she bribe or promise you sothing?" asked Michael with a sharp look in his eyes.
Jas shook his head.
"No, Mrs. Smith asked not to tell you, but that's a decision I made myself," answered Jas confidently.
Michael's brow furrowed when he heard the answer from his friend. Even though they had been friends for five years, to be honest Michael still couldn't understand Jas. Jas' way of thinking was a little odd, but he did a great job.
"Then why did you make such a decision?" asked Michael who was now curious. He wants to find out if Jas was telling the truth, or that man is just trying to find an excuse to protect his ex-wife.
"You look happy."
Michael fell silent when he heard Jas' answer. It was an answer he didn't expect at all.
"When I t you at your apartnt, it was the first ti I saw you smiling again after your divorce. Your face also looks more radiant. I apologize I didn't tell you about your divorce, but I don't regret it, Michael," Jas continued.
He had been with him for a long ti and could see how devastated he was going through the divorce. So even if it's just temporary happiness, Jas wants the man he respects to be happy.
Michael was silent to hear Jas' explanation. As the man said, during this one month he felt happy and laughed a lot. It was sothing he hadn't felt in a long ti and that was because of the presence of the woman who had been his wife.
"Okay, you can get back to work," Michael said, finally deciding to trust Jas.
Jas looked a little hesitant but he finally turned around and walked out of Michael's room.
After he was alone in his room, Michael held his hair in frustration. It was now clear why Sarah wanted to talk to Jas at that ti. However, that doesn't answer the question at all.
Actually why did Sarah do this to him? After having an affair and asking for a divorce, why would that woman want to pretend to be still his wife?
