Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Eat Well Before We Mate

The man did not stop. His hand abandoned her face, his fingers gripping her waist hard...a hold that made her yell out in pure shock and sharp pain.

That kiss, that sudden cold air, that aggressive grip... suddenly cleared her mind.

With a surge of strength, she shoved hard against his chest and, twisting her neck, swung her arm up and delivered a stinging slap across his stone-cold, beautiful face.

"Who wants to mate with you!" she yelled at him; just because he is handso does not an she was going to mate with him.

Then she saw his face. His expression was utterly unreadable, stoic, and devastatingly calm. And she realized that she had just slapped the ancient, powerful lord of the forest.

Her hand dropped, trembling. She stared at it, wishing to sever the offending limb. She has completely forgotten that he is still a powerful snake who might gobble her up in one bite.

"Hehe... my lord, about earlier... I didn’t an to...uh...slap you. It was just... nerves! You know, I was so scared that my hand acted faster than my brain."

Xuan Long looked at her for a long mont, then finally said, "So, females nowadays like boldness during mating."

Su Qinglan almost choked on her own breath. "Wh...what?!"

He nodded slowly, very seriously. "I have heard females even scratch their mates and bite them while mating. I understand now."

She coughed so hard that tears almost ca out. "Cough...cough...who told you that nonsense?!"

He looked thoughtful. "Old beasts talk. They say females enjoy leaving marks."

Su Qinglan almost fainted. "Who enjoys leaving marks?! What kind of forest gossip circle do you have here?!" she cried inside her head.

She stared at the serious-looking snake lord in front of her, and for the first ti, she truly believed this ancient being was completely unsocial! He had no idea how the world worked!

And mating? With him?!

No, thank you! What if this giant snake got hungry in the middle of the night and decided to taste-test her? Even her bones wouldn’t be left to bury!

She didn’t want to die a graveless death!

Her eyes darted around, brain spinning fast. Change the topic, Qinglan! Quick!

As if heaven heard her prayers, her stomach suddenly betrayed her with a loud growl.

Grrrrrrrrr~

Silence.

Both of them froze.

Then slowly, Xuan Long’s gaze lowered... straight to her belly. His expression changed slightly. "You are carrying cubs?"

Su Qinglan’s eyes went wide as saucers. "W-what?! How do you know?!"

He blinked calmly. "Your stomach made a sound."

She gawked at him. "That’s not cubs! That’s hunger!"

He looked genuinely confused. "Hunger?"

Su Qinglan blinked at him, trying to think of any excuse that might save her poor life. Before she could even explain further, Xuan Long suddenly said, in that calm, serious tone of his, "But you are also carrying cubs."

Su Qinglan froze for a second, then her brain made a dangerous decision. She nodded quickly. "Yes! Yes, I am! And I’m hungry!"

His eyes lit up with sudden understanding. "Ah... a female should not be hungry," he said firmly, as if stating so ancient law of nature. "I will bring you sothing to eat."

Su Qinglan blinked again, half relieved and half suspicious. "Ah... really? You’ll bring food?"

He nodded. "Yes. You must eat well before we mate."

"...WHAT?!"

But before she could correct him, the great lord of the forest had already turned, his long tail sweeping across the floor as he hurried out of the cave.

She stared at his disappearing figure, her mouth hanging open. "...Feed

first, then eat

after? Is that his plan?!"

Her tail puffed in outrage. "This old snake! Does he know anything aside from mating?! Who taught him this logic?!"

She groaned, clutching her head. "Great, Qinglan. Just great. Now you’ve gone from being a trespasser to a female waiting to be fed by a snake!"

Sowhere deep in the forest, a loud hiss echoed... Xuan Long was probably already hunting.

Su Qinglan sighed and looked down at herself. Her poor hide clothes were in tatters..pletely split open right down the middle.

"Why..." she whimpered, nearly in tears. "Why do all beastn have to be so strong! Can’t they control their claws for once?"

She held up the torn fabric hopelessly. "What am I supposed to do now? Parade around half-naked in front of that snake lord?!"

Grumbling, she grabbed a thin vine from near the wall and started wrapping it around her body, tying it as best she could. The result looked more like a very confused sumr outfit than clothing, but at least it covered the essentials.

Just as she was about to sit down, sothing brushed against her leg.

She froze.

Then she felt it move again.

Her heart stopped. Slowly, she turned her head... and saw a long, fluffy, reddish-brown tail swishing behind her.

Su Qinglan’s eyes went wide. "...What the hell is that?"

She grabbed it. It moved. She yelped.

"Wait, wait, wait—this is attached to ?!"

She tugged it once more, and sure enough, it tugged her back. "I—I have a tail?! Since when?! I didn’t sign up for this! I was a normal person yesterday!"

Her mind spun in circles. She had never heard of beast won who could partially transform! Full beastn, yes...but females? Never!

She groaned, burying her face in her hands. "Is this so new setting the system forgot to tell

about?"

Little did she know that beast females could show parts of their beast form when extrely emotional...overexcited, terrified, or...during mating.

But Su Qinglan didn’t know that. She was too busy turning in circles, staring at the tail. After a while, curiosity replaced panic.

"...It’s actually kind of cute," she murmured.

The fluffy tail swayed lightly, reacting to her mood. She reached out and brushed it with her fingers; it was incredibly soft. She giggled before she could stop herself.

Then she noticed sothing else. The top of her head felt... a little heavy.

She touched it and froze again. "What the...EARS?!"
