Chapter 500: Chapter 500: Tomorrow Will Be Brighter
Su Mingxuan moved swiftly through the quiet beast city, his footsteps echoing faintly against the ground.
Ahead of him stood the City Lord’s residence, the oldest and most imposing structure in all of Dragon Beast City.
Unlike the rest of the settlent, which consisted of rough wooden huts patched together with straw, this house was built entirely of stone. It was made of massive, unyielding blocks fitted so perfectly that not even ti had managed to erode their strength.
No one knew how old this house was, but it had stood there for a very long ti. No one knew how to build houses like this anymore.
And perhaps more unsettling... no one alive knew how to recreate it. Because of that, all the other houses in Dragon Beast City were made only of wooden logs and straw.
Yet Su Mingxuan barely spared it a glance.
His heart was far too full.
Their daughter had fallen unconscious right in front of Wang Mulan the first ti they t.
That shock had made Wang Mulan turn very pale.
Since that day, she had locked herself inside her room and refused to et anyone. She kept blaming herself for what had happened.
Su Mingxuan had already learned the full story. Su Qinglan had suddenly fainted after eting her mother.
That sight had terrified Wang Mulan so much that she had almost stopped living.
For the entire week, Su Mingxuan had tried his best to coax his mate out of her sadness, but she would not listen.
She just sat in the sa position every day. Even feeding her was very difficult. It felt like she had completely given up on life.
Su Mingxuan sighed as he hurried along the quiet street.
"I was so shocked that day," he thought to himself. "When Su Qinglan arrived with her mates, I suddenly saw Wang Mulan too. I had not seen my mate for almost twenty years. Happiness and worry hit
at the sa ti. I did not know how to react."
He rembered how Wang Mulan had looked at him with tears in her eyes. She could not even speak a single word at first. She was happy to see him, but the shock of their daughter fainting had broken her.
Su Mingxuan shook his head and kept walking faster.
"Wang Mulan has been blaming herself all this ti. She thinks it is her fault that Qinglan fainted. But now everything is fine. Our daughter is awake and completely healthy. She will definitely be happy when she hears this news."
He finally reached the big stone house. It looked cold and quiet under the night sky. Su Mingxuan pushed open the heavy door and stepped inside.
"Wang Mulan," he called gently as he walked toward her room. "Wang Mulan, are you awake?"
There was no answer at first. Su Mingxuan walked slowly inside.
Wang Mulan was sitting on the edge of the bed, staring at the floor with empty eyes. Her face was still pale, and she looked very thin.
Su Mingxuan walked closer and sat down beside her. He took her cold hand in his and spoke softly, "Mulan, listen to . I have good news."
Wang Mulan did not look up. Her voice was very quiet. "What news...?"
Su Mingxuan smiled warmly. "Our daughter has woken up. Su Qinglan is awake. She is fine now. She even talked and smiled today. She is healthy and strong."
For the first ti in many days, Wang Mulan slowly raised her head. Her eyes widened a little. "Really...? She... she woke up?"
"Yes," Su Mingxuan said, squeezing her hand gently. "She is completely okay. Her males who are with her took very good care of her. She even started planning new houses for the fox tribe today. She is full of energy again."
Wang Mulan’s lips trembled. Tears filled her eyes. "But... she fell unconscious right in front of ... It was because of ... I scared her..."
"No, Mulan," Su Mingxuan said firmly but kindly. "It was not your fault. Qinglan is fine now. She does not bla you at all. She wants to see her mother when she feels stronger."
Wang Mulan stayed silent for a long ti. Then she whispered, "Is she really... alright?"
Su Mingxuan nodded. "Yes. I saw her with my own eyes. She was smiling and talking to the tribe. She is even teaching them how to build better stone houses. Our daughter is very smart and kind, just like you."
A small sob escaped Wang Mulan’s throat.
She leaned forward and rested her head on Su Mingxuan’s shoulder. "I was so scared... I thought I lost her again..."
Su Mingxuan gently stroked her back. "You did not lose her. She is here. Tomorrow, if you feel ready, we can go see her together. She will be very happy to et you properly."
Wang Mulan did not answer right away. After a while, she nodded slowly. "Okay... I want to see her. But... what if she does not want to see ?"
"She does," Su Mingxuan said with a soft laugh. "She is our daughter. She has been waiting to et her mother. Do not worry anymore, Mulan. Everything will be fine."
Wang Mulan wiped her tears with the back of her hand. For the first ti in a week, a tiny spark of hope appeared in her eyes. "Thank you... for telling ."
Su Mingxuan smiled and pulled her into a gentle hug. "Of course. Now, you should eat sothing and rest. Tomorrow is a new day. Our family is getting better."
Outside the stone house, the night was quiet.
Inside, Su Mingxuan stayed with his mate, feeling both relieved and hopeful. His daughter was awake, and his mate was finally starting to co out of her dark sadness.
Tomorrow would shine brighter for them all. He waited for the day his mate and daughter would be reunited, for in the end, what greater gift could the Beast God grant him than a life of love and happiness?
