Chapter 213: Chapter 213: New Mission?

His entire face instantly flushed red...even the tips of his ears turned bright.

He slapped his palm over his mouth so fast it made a tiny smack sound, as if he tried to physically shove the words back in.

"A-ahem... I..." He croaked, looking away, shoulders stiff. Did he just say it aloud...now he wants to cry... He should have control of his tongue...now Lan Lan will think he is a hooligan.

He stole a tiny glance at her, and that was the worst mistake.

Because the mont he looked at her again, the image returned. The dangerous image of his female wearing only the leaf coat... nothing else underneath... her skin warm and soft... the leaves falling one by one as he...

Hu Yan’s brain short-circuited.

He slapped his own cheek lightly.

Hu Yan! Control yourself!

You cannot scare your female!

What if she thinks you’re so wild beastman with no manners?!

Idiot! Idiot Hu Yan!

He sat up straighter like a soldier being scolded, hands on his knees, eyes staring at the floor.

"I—I did not an... I an, I ant, but I did not an to say it..." he mumbled in a small voice. "Lan Lan, don’t be angry. I am... just... stupid."

Su Qinglan, still red to the ears, could not decide if she wanted to laugh, scream, or hit him with her leaf skirt.

She took a deep breath, pointed a shaky finger at him, and said through gritted teeth:

"You...cannot...say things like that!"

Hu Yan nodded rapidly, like a chick pecking rice.

"Yes. Yes. I will not. Never again. Absolutely never."

Another beat. Then he whispered under his breath, almost too soft to hear:

"...unless you want..."

"HU YAN!!"

He flinched like he was thunderstruck.

But deep inside, despite wanting to bury himself in the ground, his beast heart was secretly rolling around happily.

Because his female looked very, very cute when she was angry and red like that.

Su Qinglan’s happiness did not last for long. She was still spinning around proudly in her leaf raincoat when a loud shout suddenly echoed from outside the house.

"Lanlan! Lanlan, are you awake?!"

The voice was urgent, and both she and Hu Yan froze. They turned quickly toward the doorway just in ti to see a large fox beast form dashing toward their house.

The huge white tails swayed behind him, and his bright eyes were full of worry. In one blink, he shifted back into Rong Ye, still breathing a little heavily from running.

He rushed inside and looked straight at Su Qinglan first, checking if she was fine, then turned to Hu Yan with a tense expression.

"Sothing has happened," he said urgently.

Hu Yan’s eyes widened imdiately. "What happened?"

Rong Ye took a deep breath before speaking, and his whole body was still slightly trembling, not from fear but from the seriousness of the situation.

"When we were hunting... we found sothing very strange. Our entire mountain, the whole region, is covered in a huge do-like area. Inside the do, the rain is very light. Just like here. But outside...everything is drowning," he explained. "The land beyond the mountain is filled with heavy, harsh rain. It didn’t stop at all."

Su Qinglan blinked in shock. She couldn’t understand it at first. A do? Protecting only their mountain?

Rong Ye continued quickly, "Because of this strange do, many beastn from outside are trying to co here. They saw the lighter rain and wanted shelter. But this whole mountain belongs to the fox tribe. No one is allowed to enter without permission."

Hu Yan frowned deeply. "Then what did you find?"

Rong Ye’s face softened with sadness as he rembered the scene. "When we went down to check the boundary... we found a mixed tribe of rabbits. Small herbivorous beastn. They are very pitiful. The group was tiny, and they looked half-dead from walking in the endless rain."

Su Qinglan felt her heart squeeze tightly. Her hands curled in front of her chest.

Rong Ye added quietly, "Just when we thought we could leave them, we saw two pregnant females among them. They were shivering. They said their den was already drowned, and they could do nothing but wander through the rain."

Even Hu Yan froze at this. Pregnant females struggling in a flood was not a small matter. His expression turned serious.

Rong Ye continued, "They sohow survived this long, but they won’t last. They said they were just hoping to find a place to rest for a while. Nothing more."

Su Qinglan’s heart twisted even more tightly, almost painfully. She imagined two pregnant won struggling through harsh rain, walking with no roof, no warmth, and no food. Just the thought made her chest ache.

Hu Yan, however, spoke calmly. "This is normal in mountain regions. If they don’t prepare, they will suffer. We can’t save everyone."

But Su Qinglan could not think like that. She shook her head quickly, eyes filled with distress. "No... they’re pregnant. How can we leave them like that?"

Even Rong Ye nodded. "Normally, I wouldn’t care about other beastn. But pregnant females... we can’t turn away from them."

There was a long silence before Rong Ye stood up straight. "I will go to the tribe leader. Maybe there is sothing we can do."

"I will go with you," Su Qinglan said instantly.

Hu Yan reached out and grabbed her arm. "No. Stay here. It is raining outside." He said with a worried expression that in no way would he allow his delicate female to go outside in the rain.

Su Qinglan puffed her cheeks and pointed proudly to her leaf raincoat. "Look. I made this. It will keep

dry. And it’s only a little rain now, not heavy. I can handle it."

Hu Yan still looked troubled, but she continued speaking in a playful voice, trying to distract him.

"And also, I am tired of sitting inside all day. Let

go out a little. I want to see the father with you. Please~?" she said, making her eyes look extra pitiful.

Hu Yan let out a long sigh. He could never resist her pitiful look. He finally nodded and stood up. "Fine... but I will carry you."

Su Qinglan’s eyes brightened. "Okay!"

Rong Ye smiled helplessly. "Lan Lan, if he can’t...then I will carry you."

Hu Yan rolled his eyes and ignored him.

He simply lifted her into his arms, holding her securely. Her leaf raincoat rustled softly as she settled against his chest. She wrapped her arms around his neck and peeked outside the door with excitent.

"Let’s go," she said happily.

Rong Ye shifted halfway into his fox form, his tail flicking with impatience. "Co quickly. The tribe leader must hear everything."

So the trio stepped out of the house... Su Qinglan was riding safely in Hu Yan’s arms, her leaf raincoat protecting her from the gentle rain, while Rong Ye led the way quickly down the path.

The rain was light, almost misty, falling softly around them. The whole mountain looked peaceful, but underneath that peace, sothing important was happening. Sothing that drew countless eyes toward this place.

But suddenly, just as she lies peacefully in his arms... completely letting her guard down.

Ding!

A crisp notification echoed in her mind.
