Ji Wei looked a bit pale: "A little, maybe because I ran too fast looking for you just now."
"Let’s go back to the hospital imdiately."
Gu Moqian’s expression was unusually serious, and he imdiately turned the car around.
In the hospital corridor.
Ji Wei had just finished her check-up, but she hadn’t received the results yet. Gu Moqian held her as they sat in silence.
Because they didn’t know the results, both their hearts were on edge.
Gu Moqian’s eyes were deep as he hesitated for a mont before deciding to speak: "Weiwei, if the diagnosis is not ideal..."
Ji Wei instantly understood what he wanted to say and tried to smile: "It won’t be. Our child is strong, he’ll be fine."
Hearing her say this, his heart ached even more.
A little while ago, Shi Ye’s words echoed in his ears again, and he hesitated whether to tell her the truth.
Seeing the man’s dark eyes and serious silence, Ji Wei placed her small hand over his broad hand: "Mo Qian, actually, when in London, the doctor told that the baby might not live long."
Gu Moqian’s forehead twitched, and he abruptly looked up.
Her voice was slightly trembling, yet her face looked calm.
"At that ti, I was extrely low, forcing myself to eat every day feeling terribly awful. But this past month, I’ve eaten well and slept well. Maybe the diagnosis improved my mindset. When I’m happy, surely the baby inside is happy too."
Saying this, she gently touched her belly, and her bright eyes shimred with a soft light: "So no matter whether the result is good or bad, I’ll gladly accept it. I won’t let the baby think I’ll give up on him."
Gu Moqian listened silently, his throat tight and finding it hard to speak.
"If in the end it doesn’t work out... I’ll accept reality. Maybe the baby still longs for angel days and will take ti to co to us. I’ll wait for him."
"..."
"For now, we just have to cherish every day with the baby, and as for what cos next, let fate decide."
Her eyes were a little red, but a smile was on her face as she said this.
Gu Moqian hadn’t expected her to be so insightful and had worried about how to persuade her. Now, it seed unnecessary.
She was stronger than he was.
"Weiwei, you are a great mother."
Gu Moqian gently pulled her into his arms, stroking her back, his voice hoarse as he spoke.
Ji Wei slowly grinned, even though her eyes reddened uncontrollably, she suddenly felt a sense of relief.
Not long after, Shi Ye ca over with the report.
Seeing the two embracing, he paused slightly, a hint of a smile in his clear eyes.
"Is the report out?" Ji Wei saw him first, a little embarrassed as she moved away from Gu Moqian, asking.
"Yes, the baby is fine."
She joyfully took the report, her excitent uncontainable as she looked at the small ultrasound image of the baby on it.
"Mo Qian, I told you the baby would be alright!" Ji Wei handed the report to him, joy written all over her face.
"Yes, he’s amazing too."
Gu Moqian replied, giving Shi Ye a grateful glance.
...
Another month passed.
This ti, Gu Moqian didn’t take Ji Wei to the hospital for a check-up.
When Shi Ye called, Gu Moqian had already anticipated it. Watching Ji Wei play in the garden with An An, his eyes were gentle as he said: "We’ve decided to let things take their course. The baby is trying hard to live, and as parents, we have no reason to give up."
On the other end, Shi Ye understood his aning and didn’t insist any further, only saying: "I respect your choice. If Ji Wei feels unwell at all, contact imdiately."
"Thank you." Gu Moqian said gratefully.
