Indeed, life is full of awkward monts.
Ji Wei smiled sheepishly, avoiding the man’s gaze, and hurriedly walked forward, her cheeks burning.
But after taking just two steps, she was suddenly grabbed by the wrist by Gu Moqian, who had chased after her, forcing her to slow down.
"Take it easy, you still have an injury on your head." The man looked at her with a doting gaze.
"I-I should be lying in bed, why am I up? So strange..." Ji Wei suddenly touched her forehead, pretending to have amnesia for a second.
Gu Moqian: "..."
The woman’s confused expression was quite convincing. "Why does my head hurt a bit? I should go back to bed and rest."
Ji Wei muttered to herself as she subtly withdrew her hand from the man’s palm and turned to head back to the bed.
Gu Moqian stood where he was, watching her climb back into bed and close her eyes. Knowing she was putting on an act, he couldn’t help but smile.
Ji Wei really went to great lengths to diffuse the awkward situation.
She lay there with her eyes closed, and when she heard the man’s footsteps approaching, her heart couldn’t help but race, her palms sweating with nervousness, fearing he would expose her little trick at any mont.
Just when Ji Wei was feeling anxious, a warm, soft sensation suddenly brushed against her burning cheek, startling her almost into crying out.
"Goodnight, Weiwei."
Gu Moqian slowly lifted his lips away, his deep eyes watching the pink spreading rapidly down the woman’s neck as he whispered with a smile.
Since he ca back after disappearing, this was the first ti he called her this intimately.
Ji Wei’s heart fluttered too, almost making her open her eyes in delight, but she managed to hold back.
It wasn’t until the man stood up and returned to the sofa that Ji Wei cautiously lifted her eyelids, seeing Gu Moqian lie back on the narrow sofa. Her eyes suddenly brimd with tears, yet her lips were full of smiles.
Two mornings later.
Knock knock knock...
Ji Wei woke up and was leaning against the headboard ssaging Xia Duoduo when she suddenly heard a knock on the door and instinctively looked up.
A tall, handso foreign guy stood at the door of the ward holding a large bouquet of flowers. His deep-set eyes t Ji Wei’s gaze, and he flashed a brilliant smile.
This was totally like sothing out of a TV drama!
Ji Wei wasn’t surprised and was stunned. Her first reaction was that this handso guy must have walked into the wrong ward. At the sa ti, she was secretly relieved that Gu Moqian had gone out to buy breakfast; otherwise, he would surely be jealous upon seeing this.
She smiled apologetically at the handso guy and then turned her gaze back to her phone.
"Excuse , are you Miss Ji? Soone ordered a bouquet of flowers for you. Could you sign for it?" The foreign guy spoke up proactively, speaking fluent English and coming across as very polite.
After confirming she hadn’t misheard the words "Miss Ji," Ji Wei finally put down her phone, lifted the covers, and walked over. As she walked, she couldn’t help but think, could this be Gu Moqian trying to give her a surprise, deliberately arranging for this handso guy to deliver the flowers?
After signing her na, Ji Wei smiled and thanked him.
The flower delivery guy completed his task and also turned around to leave.
Ji Wei looked at the flowers in her arms - the snow-white roses paired with light blue hydrangeas were very simple and beautiful, perfectly matching her temperant.
She rarely received flowers, so holding such a beautiful bouquet early in the morning put her in a cheerful mood.
Just as Ji Wei was about to turn around to find a vase for the flowers, Gu Moqian happened to return, carrying steaming hot Chinese breakfast.
He went to great lengths to find a local Chinese restaurant with decent food, just to bring back the soup dumplings Ji Wei missed.
