Ji Wei, driven by a sudden impulse, reached out to touch under the sink. She could feel the outline of a wooden drawer, and her heart instantly tightened.

She held her breath and focused intently on it, then slowly pulled the drawer open.

Just like in the master bedroom of Shanshui Manor, the drawer contained syringes and several boxes of dication.

The syringes appeared to have been used. Perhaps, worried that tossing them into the trash would lead to her discovery, they had simply been stuffed back into the drawer, waiting for another chance to dispose of them.

Looking at the items inside the drawer, that uneasy feeling surged up inside her once more.

Why on earth would Gu Moqian need these things? Could it be that he had so incurable illness, requiring dication to forcibly suppress the pain?

And the reason he hid them so carefully was precisely so she wouldn’t notice anything!

The more Ji Wei thought about it, the more alard she felt. She noticed her hands growing cold and, try as she might, she simply couldn’t move her feet to step away.

"Weiwei? Are you in the bathroom?"

Gu Moqian’s voice suddenly ca from outside the door, snapping Ji Wei out of her trance. She hurriedly and frantically restored the hidden compartnt to its original state.

In order not to arouse Gu Moqian’s suspicion, Ji Wei turned on the faucet and, amidst the rushing sound of water, responded as evenly as she could: "Mm, I’m washing up. I’ll be right out."

A few minutes later, Ji Wei walked out as if nothing had happened.

Gu Moqian was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, lifting his hand to button the white shirt he was wearing.

His tall, lean figure basked in the gentle golden light of the rising sun, looking impossibly striking.

Ji Wei couldn’t imagine that this body, one that had captivated and bewitched her so, could be suffering from a serious illness!

She stood silently behind him, her eyes gradually welling up with tears. After a long mont, she suddenly quickened her steps, walking over to embrace him tightly from behind.

Her tear-streaked face pressed firmly against his broad, sturdy back. She held him tightly, suppressing the ache in her heart, biting her lip without saying a word.

Gu Moqian sensed sothing unusual about her and slowly turned around, lowering his head. His profound gaze lingered on her delicate face for a mont. "What’s the matter?" His voice carried a trace of warmth, laced with a faint smile.

Ji Wei dared not lift her head for fear of exposing her emotions. She rubbed her face against his reassuringly solid chest, fabricating a clumsy excuse: "What happened last night was so wonderful, it felt almost unreal... Thinking about leaving here so soon makes reluctant."

"Silly girl."

Hearing this, Gu Moqian spoke in a low, gentle tone. He raised his hand to tilt her chin upward, locking eyes with her slightly reddened gaze. "If you like this place, we can co here anyti. No other staff, just the two of us, treating it as our private retreat. Hmm?"

Could it really be this simple?

Ji Wei’s eyes shimred with emotion. Yet, while touched, she couldn’t help but also feel a pang of sadness and unease.

The discovery of the syringe and dication was like carrying a ticking ti bomb inside her—an agony of doubt and trepidation that refused to fade.

In the end, Ji Wei said nothing in reply.

After breakfast, the two of them got into the car and headed back to Shanshui Manor.

Today, Ji Wei sat quietly inside the car, watching the rapidly passing street scenes outside the window, a heavy weight of thoughts upon her mind.

She was debating whether to confront him and demand answers about the dication she had discovered.

Noticing her silence, Gu Moqian reached for her hand, holding it gently in his palm, and spoke up on his own: "What are you thinking about?"

Ji Wei stiffened slightly. Turning her head to look at the handso man beside her, she hesitated for a few seconds before blurting out, "Mo Qian, a few days ago, Ji Shanshan ca to see . She told ... that you are hiding sothing from ."
