The man’s warm breath brushed against the bare skin of her neck, a soft tickle that made Ji Wei stiffen instinctively. She reflexively reached out to push him away.

But having just recovered from a serious illness, she lacked the strength to do so. Not only did her hand fail to move him, but it was firmly grasped by the man.

"Let hold you for a while," Mo Qian’s deep voice murmured in her ear.

Ji Wei’s gaze faltered, and as if on a whim, she stopped struggling.

The man’s warm hand wrapped around her waist, his head leaning against her back and shoulders. He held her quietly from behind, just like that.

Neither of them said a word.

The bedroom was enveloped in tranquility. Ji Wei let Mo Qian hold her for quite so ti before she began to notice her neck growing sore from the position. She couldn’t help but move slightly.

Only then did she realize she was still sitting on the man’s lap, the posture undeniably intimate. She imdiately froze again.

Yet Mo Qian showed no reaction. Perhaps he was too exhausted—within monts, he had fallen asleep leaning against her.

Ji Wei could clearly hear his soft, even breathing beside her ear. She hesitated for a mont before biting her lower lip lightly and whispering, "Mo Qian, you should lie on the bed to rest..."

The man’s breathing remained steady. He didn’t move.

Ji Wei waited for a few seconds, then turned her head to glance at him.

Under the light, his profile appeared a bit pale and weary, yet his features remained genteel and harmonious.

She stared at him for a few seconds before lifting her hand to support Mo Qian’s body, carefully easing him down to lie flat on the sofa bit by bit.

Ji Wei stood up, fetched a sumr quilt, and covered him with it. Then she quietly tidied up his nearby laptop and the scattered docunts on the coffee table. After organizing everything, she turned back to glance at Mo Qian once more before finally returning to bed.

Perhaps it was because Mo Qian was in the bedroom with her, but Ji Wei felt an inexplicable sense of peace. She stopped thinking about anything and quickly drifted into sleep.

When Ji Wei woke up, she realized she was the only one left in the bedroom. After freshening up, she went downstairs, but Mo Qian was nowhere to be found in the dining room either. She figured he had already gone to the office.

While eating breakfast, Ji Wei casually picked up her phone.

When she pressed the screen awake, she noticed several ssages from Mo Qian.

—— "I have an important eting this morning, so I had to head to the office early. Sorry I couldn’t have breakfast with you. Make sure to eat well even if you’re alone, okay?"

—— "Aunt Zhu ntioned you were cooped up in your room all day yesterday. Since you’re free anyway, I’ve arranged for soone from the departnt store to co over this morning. Help pick out a few outfits, would you?"

—— "You’re still recovering, so hold An An less often, alright?"

—— "I miss you."

As Ji Wei read through the ssages, her heart inexplicably filled with warmth. Her gaze lingered on the last two words, and a soft smile unknowingly curved her lips.

Aunt Zhu, observing Ji Wei’s improved mood from the side, felt a quiet sense of relief.

Since Ji Wei’s car accident, her outward appearance hadn’t shown much change, and she had seed strong on the surface. But Aunt Zhu had faintly sensed her low spirits—especially during als, where she ate so little, distracted and absent-minded as if nothing could fully engage her.

But just now, she’d actually curled her lips into a smile.

Maintaining a cheerful mood would undoubtedly benefit Ji Wei’s current recovery.

"Aunt Zhu, the porridge this morning tastes quite good. Could you serve another bowl?" Ji Wei suddenly turned to her and said.

Aunt Zhu quickly snapped out of her thoughts, responding with a cheerful smile. Before long, she had returned with a fresh bowl of porridge and placed it in front of Ji Wei, saying kindly, "Take your ti eating, Ma’am."

After breakfast, Ji Wei got up and went for a stroll in the garden to aid digestion. Not long after, a housekeeper ca over to inform her that the people from the departnt store had arrived.
