The quiet morning was suddenly interrupted by the shrill sound of an alarm clock, waking the woman from her sleep.

Ji Wei groggily stretched her hand out from under the covers, fumbling for a long ti before finally finding the alarm clock. Her arm felt so sore she could barely lift it.

Last night, she had been forced to use her hands again and again. She felt like they were completely useless now. In the end, it wasn’t until she pitifully said that staying up late was bad for the baby that soone finally let her off the hook.

Just thinking about it made her angry. The man had a great ti, but she was utterly exhausted, okay?

What a beast!

Ji Wei cursed Gu Moqian furiously in her mind.

Fresh out of the bathroom, Gu Moqian couldn’t help but sneeze. He glanced at the woman on the bed, her face full of resentnt. "Did you just curse ?"

Hearing the man’s voice, Ji Wei froze for a mont, then stiffly forced a smile, blinking her innocent eyes: "Of course not. I love you too much to even think about it. How could I dare curse you?"

Gu Moqian chuckled lightly.

Dare not? She seed to have never known the aning of "dare not."

To cover her guilt, Ji Wei grabbed the phone next to her and tapped the screen. Her expression gradually froze.

Late last night, a new email had arrived on her phone. The sender’s address was a string of English letters, and the content of the email contained only a few words: "Father is safe. Do not worry."

This... this email was from Ji Yunli!

Ji Wei could hardly believe it. After confirming the content of the email again, she imdiately replied: "Dad, where are you? The family is worried sick about you. Why won’t you co back? What happened?"

After hitting send, Ji Wei’s heart could not settle.

Gu Moqian noticed her staring intently at her phone with a worried expression. Pausing as he buttoned his shirt, he walked over imdiately to ask, "What’s wrong?"

Ji Wei looked up at him, her eyes slightly red, her voice trembling as she said, "Dad... my dad just sent an email."

"Let see."

Gu Moqian took the phone and read it in silence before saying, "Send the email address. I’ll have Chen Ke start an investigation right away."

Ji Wei quickly did as he said, her hands trembling slightly from emotion.

"If he can send an email, it ans Dad is temporarily safe. Don’t worry too much," Gu Moqian said, holding her shoulders to comfort her.

Ji Wei nodded quietly in his arms.

Knowing that Ji Yunli was safe, the heavy weight on her heart lifted ever so slightly.

"Mo Qian, let’s go back to the Ji Family house after work today," she suddenly said, looking up at him. "I want to share this good news with Grandma. I’m sure she’s been just as worried as I am."

"Alright."

Gu Moqian agreed imdiately, reaching out to stroke the top of her head, his gaze gentle.

The two of them held each other quietly for a mont before Gu Moqian let her go. "Make sure to dress warmly later. It’s snowing outside."

"Huh?" Ji Wei exclaid in surprise, quickly turning to look.

Outside the window, a blanket of snow had covered everything in sight, with flakes still falling steadily from the sky.

She had loved snow days since she was a child. Her eyes lit up, sparkling like a child’s. She threw off the covers, got out of bed, and walked to the window, marveling at the snowflakes drifting past. "So beautiful," she exclaid.

Watching her excitent, Gu Moqian couldn’t help but smile indulgently, though with a hint of exasperation. He pulled open the wardrobe, took out a thick won’s coat, and walked over to wrap her up snugly. "Don’t catch a cold."

Ji Wei turned around, her face brimming with excitent. "Mo Qian, let’s build a snowman later!"

Gu Moqian’s lips twitched slightly.

Why did he feel like he was raising a daughter...

"You’re not a kid anymore. What’s the point of building a snowman?" he teased, though he couldn’t resist pinching her playful face with a laugh. "Such a childish little thing."

"What does building a snowman have to do with age?" Ji Wei blinked, visibly displeased. "When the baby is born, let’s see if you’ll still say no to building one with him."
