Xi Nanfeng was on the phone when Zii suddenly ca over.
"A Cheng."
She called out, then nodded toward Gu Moqian, counting it as a greeting, "I noticed none of you ate much tonight, so I ordered so food to be delivered. Go down and eat sothing."
"Old Ye, you go first. I think Weiwei is about to wake up." Gu Moqian patted his good friend’s shoulder and stepped away.
Seeing Ye Cheng still standing there motionless, Zii added, "A Cheng, aren’t you hungry?"
Ye Cheng didn’t show any expression, reaching for the car keys in his pocket, but suddenly stopped as if realizing sothing.
"You go back first."
He said coldly.
Zii’s charming face was tinged with the flush of drunkenness; she had drunk a lot this evening and was holding herself together against the intoxication.
"Alright, I’ll go back." She answered decisively, but quickly changed her tone, "But I’ve been drinking, so I can’t drive."
Ye Cheng: "..."
"Can you take back?" The woman said imdiately, her slightly intoxicated eyes gazing at him.
"Call your people to pick you up." He responded coldly.
After speaking, he walked away.
Zii hurried to follow him, "I gave them the night off tonight."
Ye Cheng stopped and turned to look at her.
"If you don’t believe , you can call and check." Zii held out her phone to him.
Ye Cheng froze for a second, then raised his hand to rub his brow, seeming a bit helpless: "Let’s go."
"Thank you, A Cheng!" Upon hearing this, she smiled, her expression seductive and captivating.
Ye Cheng didn’t look at her again and kept walking.
Sothing felt off...
The cheerful tone in Zii’s voice gave him the impression he’d been tricked.
Ji Wei slowly opened her eyes and found herself lying in bed.
The harsh light from above was blocked by a tall man’s silhouette. As she looked at Gu Moqian’s deep eyes, she was dazed for a mont before her lips moved slightly: "Mo Qian..."
As soon as she called out, her eyes felt hot.
She had almost walked through the gates of hell, and now that she had regained consciousness, her emotions couldn’t help but beco stirred.
Gu Moqian leaned down, touching her face, his gaze filled with tenderness and pity: "I’m here. It’s alright now."
Ji Wei struggled to raise her arms and held him tightly. Tears still fell uncontrollably.
Gu Moqian gently patted her back, knowing she needed ti to calm down.
After a long ti, Ji Wei finally lifted her head from his embrace.
Seeing the attachnt in her eyes, Gu Moqian felt warmth in his heart. He couldn’t resist kissing her forehead.
"I’m sorry. I didn’t protect you..." Gu Moqian said with self-reproach.
Every ti he told himself he wouldn’t let Ji Wei get hurt again, yet ti after ti he broke that promise.
When the incident occurred, Mary and he had reached the swimming pool almost simultaneously, but he was the one who jumped in first to pull Ji Wei out. Even so, the guilt in his heart hadn’t lessened one bit.
Ji Wei slowly shook her head, gripping his hand tightly: "It’s not your fault. Soone wanted to hurt ; no matter how careful we are, it can’t always be prevented."
"I’ve already sent people to investigate. I believe there’ll be results soon," Gu Moqian said, his expression suddenly turning cold.
Knock, knock, knock.
The bedroom door was knocked.
"Mr. Gu, Miss asked to bring you and Madam so porridge," a servant from the Qin Family said outside.
"Co in."
The servant placed the bowl of porridge down and quickly left again.
"You’ve been hungry all evening. Let feed you so porridge, alright?" Gu Moqian said softly.
Ji Wei nodded.
He scooped a spoonful, blew on it carefully, and brought it to her lips.
Before she could swallow, Ji Wei suddenly covered her mouth, looking as if deeply uncomfortable.
"What’s wrong?" Gu Moqian’s heart tightened.
Her stomach churned violently, and Ji Wei didn’t have ti to explain. She threw off the blanket and rushed into the bathroom.
