Qinghe Town is a very typical village.
It was already afternoon by the ti they arrived.
To stay low-key, they drove an ordinary jeep, but it still drew the villagers’ attention.
The car could only be parked by the roadside at the village entrance; after that, they had to walk a small path.
Ji Yunli had already told her the location of that family’s ho. When Ji Wei found it, a few brick-and-tile houses appeared in front of her, under the eaves hung rows of golden corn, and grains were being sun-dried in the yard.
An old man in his sixties ca out holding a basin to feed the chickens. When he saw the two people suddenly appearing at the courtyard gate, he froze, shocked and unable to speak.
"Old man, what are you standing there stunned for?" Grandma Li followed closely behind him, giving Grandpa Li’s shoulder a pat when she saw them. But soon, her gaze followed the old man’s and landed on Ji Wei.
Grandma Li rubbed her eyes hard, her face full of disbelief. "Old man, am I seeing this wrong? Is this... is this Miss Wanfei?"
"It’s been ten years. How could Miss Wanfei still look this young? Old woman, you’re mistaken! Oh dear, could that young woman in black actually be a foreigner?"
A crowd of villagers had gathered outside the courtyard, coming along out of curiosity after Ji Wei and her companion.
Seeing the elderly couple walk over, both excited and anxious, soone couldn’t help asking, "Grandma Li, are these two your relatives? Why have we never seen them before?"
"I heard they ca in an off-road vehicle. One car like that costs hundreds of thousands! When did your family get such wealthy relatives?"
"And look at those clothes. One glance and you can tell they’re brand-na stuff, sothing called Chanel—must be really expensive!"

"Shut your mouth!" Grandma Li roared suddenly, glaring fiercely at the gossiping village woman.
The woman was so intimidated by her glare that she choked and couldn’t say another word.
Just then, a tall young boy with a buzz cut suddenly darted out of the house. Grabbing a mud-covered hoe nearby, he charged toward the crowd of onlookers.
"Oh God, run! Their crazy son’s coming out to hit people again!"
"Li the Fool! You big idiot, don’t you know hitting people is against the law!"
"Hurry up and leave! Talking about the law with a fool like him is like playing a lute to a cow..."
In the blink of an eye, the villagers scattered cleanly.
Jia Ming tossed aside the hoe and grinned at Ji Wei, flashing a mouthful of white teeth. "Little sister Wei, hey there, little sister Wei, you’re finally back."
Grandma Li and Grandpa Li both looked visibly shocked.
Their grandson had been acting erratic ever since his mind went wrong, sotis not even recognizing them, yet he recognized the little girl who once stayed at their ho!
Grandma Li excitedly pointed at Ji Wei and asked, "Jia Ming, do you really know who she is?"
