"If I say no, will you still cling on desperately?" His voice revealed no abnormality, but emotions surged in his eyes.

Zii’s expression stiffened montarily but quickly recovered, laughing coquettishly, "I would! You’ve already called thick-skinned, so of course, I need to keep proving I won’t give up."

Ye Cheng frowned, a wave of frustration swelling within him.

It seed like he was repeatedly rejecting her with cold words, but it rely emphasized how powerless he was against this woman—completely helpless.

"So what does it matter if I agree or not?" He sneered, suddenly standing up. "Let repeat this: Don’t try to monitor anymore, and stop shadowing any of my artists. If you can’t, we should never et again."

"What if I can?" Zii stood up as well, staring at him with intense, fervent eyes.

Ye Cheng hadn’t expected her sudden rebuttal, pausing briefly before a mocking smile curved on his lips. "I know you too well. You can’t do it."

Zii lowered her gaze and smiled faintly, "A Cheng, you’re wrong. You don’t understand enough. I can die for you—sothing like this would be nothing."

Ye Cheng recalled her bursting into the underground boxing venue in Japan wearing a mask, her precise, decisive movents as she handled a gun—clearly skilled and trained.

What did she endure in the ti he had no knowledge of?

He truly didn’t understand her enough.

Seeing his indifferent silence, Zii continued, "I promise, I won’t monitor you or anyone around you anymore. I can also ignore that female artist. But just one thing: Stop shutting out completely. Even if I call you ten tis, just pick up once."

She was lowering herself to the dust, looking up to him, begging this man to give her a chance.

Ye Cheng was moved.

In the past, he had worshiped her as his goddess, but now, she regarded him as her deity.

He remained silent, and she waited for his response.

The cigarette between her fingers continued to burn, nearly reaching her delicate white fingertips, yet its owner remained oblivious.

At the instant a burning sting began to spread, Ye Cheng suddenly extended his hand, swiftly flicking the cigarette butt away from her fingers.

The man grabbed her wrist, his eyes clouded with thinly veiled anger.

Zii stared blankly at his hand, feeling a faint warmth seep through their contact, her heart quivering as a near-joyful emotion slowly surged within her.

He was caring about her...

Ye Cheng’s grip lasted only a mont before he let go, throwing out a cold remark, "Take care of yourself."

As he started to stride away, the waiter arrived with freshly brewed coffee. "Two guests, here’s your coffee..."

Zii grabbed her bag and placed several bills onto the waiter’s tray. "We have plans to leave, consider the coffee your treat."

The breathtakingly beautiful woman offered him a slight smile, leaving the waiter utterly dazed. By the ti he snapped out of it, the man and woman had already left the restaurant, disappearing from sight.

...

At the bottom of the restaurant, both of their cars were parked not far away, within walking distance.

Ye Cheng walked ahead with broad strides, Zii following behind.

Suddenly, the woman behind him let out a cry of dismay. Turning his head, Ye Cheng saw her holding up one of her heels and wobbling it with a defeated expression. "The heel broke," she said dejectedly.

Ye Cheng’s pupils contracted slightly, but he turned back and kept walking, ignoring her.

Zii decisively removed both of her shoes, holding them in her hands, bare feet stepping onto the icy ground. She jogged past him, blocking his path. "Show a little sympathy, will you? I don’t want to walk back barefoot."
