Returning to the bedroom, she closed the door behind her.
Gu Moqian embraced Ji Wei from behind, his voice low as he whispered by her ear, "Are you afraid of cockroaches?"
"Not at all," Ji Wei replied with a smile.
"What about mice?"
"Not afraid of those either."
"Snakes?"
Ji Wei pursed her lips into a smile. "I’m not afraid of any of those. They’re just small animals, after all. I even kept a golden python once. Its skin was so smooth—it was actually fun to touch."
Gu Moqian’s lips twitched violently.
To be honest, he was sowhat creeped out by those cold-blooded creatures himself.
After a pause, Gu Moqian pulled his thoughts back and asked, "So, is there nothing you’re afraid of?"
"There is," Ji Wei turned her head to look at him.
"What is it?" The man raised an eyebrow. So, she *did* have a weakness.
Ji Wei cupped his clean and handso face with her hands, laughing coyly. "You. I’m most afraid of you leaving ."
An unusual emotion flickered through Gu Moqian’s eyes, and in the next second, he suddenly scooped her up into his arms.
"What are you doing?" Ji Wei exclaid in surprise.
"Sleeping together."
...
As dawn broke, Zii opened her eyes. At first, she was still groggy, not yet fully awake. She instinctively looked toward the bedside and noticed that the person who had been sleeping there was gone.
Zii jolted awake and shot up.
"Ye Cheng, Ye Cheng! Where are you, Ye Cheng..."
She called out as she searched all around the clinic, her voice filled with panic, until she suddenly heard the bathroom door behind her creak open.
She turned around and found Ye Cheng standing there, his upper body bare.
Water droplets from his freshly washed face still clung to his skin.
His pale complexion looked slightly better than yesterday, and his energy seed improved as well.
When his phoenix eyes t hers, there was a brief pause before he turned and walked away.
Zii snapped back to her senses and hurried after him. "Does the wound still hurt?"
Ye Cheng walked to the bedside, picked up a white shirt, and prepared to put it on, ignoring her question.
Seeing this, Zii quickly stepped in front of him. "Your hand isn’t convenient; let help you put it on." With that, she reached out for the shirt.
Ye Cheng pinched the other end and didn’t imdiately let go.
Zii tugged lightly, and the shirt slipped out of his hand into hers.
Ye Cheng stood there silently, his thin lips pressed together, allowing Zii to dress him.
As she buttoned up his shirt, Ye Cheng glanced down at her charming face. His mind involuntarily wandered to the image of her laughing coquettishly and serving drinks beside Lu Shanhu.
A surge of disgust welled up inside him, and he suddenly pushed her away with one hand.
Zii staggered, startled, and looked at him in confusion.
"I can do it myself," Ye Cheng said coldly, starting to button up his shirt with one hand.
Zii stared at his pale, slender fingers. Even with one hand, his movents remained graceful and composed.
She bit her lower lip lightly, frozen in place like a statue.
At that mont, A Cheng walked in from outside.
"Mr. Ye, Boss Zi, I’ve found a car, and we can leave anyti. Miyata’s people haven’t noticed anything for now," he reported.
"Good." Ye Cheng turned, nodded faintly, and strode outside.
A Cheng glanced briefly at the unmoving Zii, hesitated for a mont, then followed Ye Cheng out.
In the car.
Zii sat alone in the back seat, while Ye Cheng took the front passenger seat.
"We’ll head back to et up with Mr. Gu and the others now," A Cheng said as he started the car.
"Mm," Ye Cheng responded lightly, falling silent again.
A Cheng, perceptive as always, sensed sothing unusual in the atmosphere. Things had seed harmonious between them last night—what was going on now?
Confused but wary of saying the wrong thing, he kept his eyes on the road and drove without a word.
