"Ahem, well... you’ll only know if you try." Ji Wei said, her face flushed, trying to sound assertive but feeling anything but.

In the next second, Ji Wei felt the tall figure of a man casting a shadow over her head. She didn’t know why, but she got so nervous that she reflexively closed her eyes.

However, the shadow lingered above her head without moving.

Ji Wei waited for a mont but sensed no action. She peeked through her eyelids and saw Gu Moqian staring at her, simultaneously amused and frustrated.

"Wha... what’s wrong?" She asked, utterly baffled.

Gu Moqian looked at her thoroughly sared makeup, which resembled sothing more chaotic than a flower-streaked cat, and felt a bit exasperated.

How was he supposed to kiss her like this?

"What on earth did you do to yourself?" Gu Moqian couldn’t help but laugh in annoyance.

"Camouflage!" Ji Wei quickly caught on to what he ant and explained, "This way, no one will recognize ."

Gu Moqian raised his hand to pinch her little nose. "Yeah, disguised as a national treasure. Even I almost didn’t recognize you."

"National treasure?" Ji Wei frowned. "I’m not a giant panda!"

"You’re right, you’re not big. Maybe a red panda instead."

Gu Moqian’s gaze darted briefly to her chest. Even through her clothes, he could see the soft curves rise and fall with her breathing.

Ji Wei instinctively covered her chest with her hands, her face flushing deeper red. "Don’t you dare look!"

"Co on, clean the paint off your face." Gu Moqian stood up and pulled her toward the bathroom.

Paint... paint?

That’s makeup, okay!

Ji Wei was nearly fuming at his ridiculous comparison.

Dragged into the bathroom, Ji Wei stood in front of the mirror and finally noticed how the drizzle outside had lted her makeup into chaos when she returned.

She had used heavy eyeliner and dark eyeshadow, which had smudged together, making her eyes truly resemble those of a panda.

And she had stood before Gu Moqian looking just like this...

From the reflection in the mirror, Ji Wei caught a glimpse of the man struggling to suppress his laughter. Instantly, she felt the urge to burrow herself into the ground and disappear.

She quickly turned on the faucet, grabbed so face wash, and began scrubbing her face furiously.

After washing it several tis, her face finally felt fresh and clean again, revealing her naturally delicate, beautiful features.

"Is this better now?" Ji Wei bead a radiant smile at him.

"Good enough."

Gu Moqian didn’t hold back and pulled her into his arms, resting his head on her shoulder. Looking at their intimate reflection in the mirror, he suddenly sighed. "You, woman... I really don’t know what to do with you."

He had planned to quietly take care of things regarding Ji Chuyang, but she’d followed him anyway.

Ji Wei stared at the man’s face in the mirror and pouted. "Why are you sighing? I should be the one feeling helpless here, okay?" After saying this, she turned sideways to look at him directly, her tone suddenly becoming serious. "If you ever dare disappear without a word again, believe it or not, I’ll burn our marriage certificate."

Gu Moqian was montarily stunned by her dramatic declaration.

After a pause, he responded in a deliberately slow voice, "You burn the marriage certificate, and we can just replace it."

"..."

Ji Wei was speechless.

Unwilling to be bested, Ji Wei retorted indignantly, "Then what if I go find another man instead?"

She pretended to be excited by this idea, slapping her forehead. "Oh, right! Why didn’t I think of that? While you’re here, I should hit the clubs, bump into a hot guy, and then have a one-night..."

"A one-night what?"

The man’s voice abruptly rang out, carrying an ominous edge.

Ji Wei imdiately clamped her mouth shut.

Seeing Gu Moqian’s darkened expression, she secretly rejoiced inside.

Hmph, serves him right for ditching her and running off!

Was she not allowed at least a little verbal revenge?
