Chapter 910: Chapter 910: She is young and naive
Zora Hughes looked helpless, “Grandfather, please don’t be angry. Cousin Xaviera is now the wife of the president of the Mat Corporation. She looks down on us because of her pride and arrogance. Your health isn’t good; please don’t let her affect you. Let’s go ho.”
The bystanders overheard her. The people flooding the company quickly spread the news throughout the hall. Mrs. Mat had just taken office and was rejecting her own grandfather? This was, after all, her grandfather. Was she refusing even to et with him when he made a personal trip to the company to see her?
“Could Mrs. Mat really be so heartless?”
“She is young, and it’s normal for her to be headstrong given Mr. Caleb Mat’s doting love for her. But while Mrs. Mat may not know better, shouldn’t Mr. Mat?”
“I heard that Mr. Caleb Mat is at a eting. It must be that Mrs. Mat doesn’t want to et her relatives because she is afraid they will want to establish connections with her. She must have told the front desk to drive them away.”
Hearing the crowd’s murmuring, Zora’s head sunk down. A malicious smile crept across her face. When she looked up again, she looked worried, “Grandfather, let’s just leave. I’m sure cousin Xaviera is too busy to see us and isn’t intentionally ignoring us.”
Sir Hughes harrumphed coldly, “I’ve co here personally to see her, and she doesn’t want to see in return. What obligation does she have that is so pressing she can’t even spare a few minutes to et?”
After speaking, Cory Hughes let out a couple of intense coughs, looking as though he was consud by grief.
Zora Hughes helped him to gather his breath and smiled bitterly, “Grandfather, she is married now to Mr. Caleb Mat. We don’t exist in her world anymore. Why fight with her?”
“That’s too much!” Suddenly soone could not help but open their mouth, “Just because she married a president, does that an she can ignore her elders? What makes her so arrogant?” At this ti, a young man in a suit walked over. He wasn’t an employee of the company but ca to discuss business with the Mat Corporation. He spoke calmly, “Miss, don’t worry, I will ask for you.”
After he finished speaking, the man walked over to the front desk. Anger filled his brow; “Even if she is the wife of the President, she should et with her elders! The old man traveled so far to see his granddaughter, and she doesn’t give him the ti of day. Isn’t that a little inhuman?”
The front desk, confronted with such questioning, suddenly found themselves without an answer, “It’s the president’s orders…”
“How could Mr. Caleb Mat refuse to see his elders? It must be Mrs. Mat’s idea. She’s young and doesn’t know better, but don’t you? After the old man couldn’t get in touch with his granddaughter, he traveled a long way to get here. You persist in denying him entry. Can you really bear the responsibility if Mr. Caleb Mat holds you accountable?”
The man turned to look at Zora Hughes again, seeing her on the brink of tears. His heart softened, “Don’t worry. It will be taken care of.”
Zora Hughes lowered her gaze and gave a bitter smile of desperation, “Thank you. I’m used to it. Xaviera is reckless, but she is also kind-hearted. If she knew that grandfather had co to see her despite his illness, she would certainly relent.”
“No need to thank . I can’t bear to see a beautiful woman being wronged. I work for the Garye Company. No matter what, I will help you today!”
Seeing Zora Hughes about to cry with grief, his heart ached, “If Mrs. Mat still doesn’t want to see you, I will go up and find her. It’s unacceptable to leave an elder standing here…”
“Miss Hughes, Sir Hughes.” Just then, a sweet voice cut through, interrupting the man’s arrogant speech.
Everyone turned and saw Xaviera Evans slowly making her way towards them. Her indifferent eyes flicked over the crowd, finally settling on Zora. Before Zora had a chance to speak, the young man stepped forward, “Mrs. Mat, your grandfather has been waiting for you downstairs for a long ti. You didn’t answer his call nor et him, and even had the front desk drive him away. You’re being too extre!”
Xaviera scanned the man’s na tag on his suit, with unconcerned eyes. Zora certainly had charm; she had just managed to get soone to stand up for her.
Zora let out a triumphant laugh, regardless of what her grandfather had done, he was Xaviera’s grandfather. If Xaviera wouldn’t acknowledge her grandfather, that would be considered disrespectful. Even though she was in a high position, she would be looked down upon by everyone.
“Xaviera, you’re now married to Mr. Caleb Mat and want to sever ties with us, I understand. But…” Zora’s face filled with sorrow, and she couldn’t help but sob.
