Chapter 604: Suddenly, a Husband Pops Up
Waving her hand, Xenia Jaak ordered the bodyguards to drag the man away. However, he scanned the room, seemingly locking onto a target, and rushed straight to Xaviera Evans.
The man’s hair was greasy, and he wore tattered clothes, looking dirty. He tried to grab Xaviera’s hand, but Xenia stopped him.
“Who are you! What do you want to do?”
The scruffy man ignored Xenia, clinging to Xaviera’s legs and tightly tugging at the hem of her skirt, yelling loudly, “Wife! I finally found you!”
The word ‘wife’ startled everyone, and they subconsciously glanced at Caleb Mat, not far away.
Could this man be calling Xaviera… his wife?
Caleb’s eyes darkened, his slender fingers rubbing the wine glass as if brewing sothing, then his gaze fell on Anna Campbell.
The man, seeing Xaviera’s lack of response, imdiately turned fierce. “Wife! Your heart is so cruel! Now that you’ve beco a noble lady, you’re ashad of , your husband? You were with when you were sixteen, and we even had a child together. Have you forgotten all that?”
“Even if you’re now a noble lady, it doesn’t change the fact that you’re my wife. Why don’t you hurry over here? I beg you, don’t run away again; I can’t live without you!”
The man tried to grab Xaviera’s skirt.
Everyone gasped.
Whether this matter was true or not, they all knew that this man would not appear here for no reason. Soone wanted to ruin Xaviera’s reputation in front of all the guests.
If it got out that she had been with this man since she was sixteen, had a child, and then abandoned her ‘husband’ for a wealthy family’s daughter’s position, Xaviera would be completely discredited in Libanan.
“Xaviera, we were childhood friends. When you were bullied as a child, I stood up for you. You said you’d marry when we grew up, raise children together, but you abandoned not long after our marriage! We had so many beautiful mories together, but you left just for money!”
Crying, he continued: “You’ve been away for so long, and I’ve been looking for you. I didn’t expect… I didn’t expect you to…”
Nidya Hughes spoke first: “Xaviera grew up in the countryside, where girls marry early, and she didn’t have anyone to teach her manners. It’s not strange that she lived with a man so young, but she can’t return to the Campbell family and deny her husband!”
“Mrs. Campbell! Are you really Xaviera’s mother?!” Xenia roared angrily: “You can’t judge her based on this man’s words alone! “If you were a mother who truly loved her child, you would defend your daughter first when such a thing happens to her—true or false—minimize the damage and not jeopardize her future and life. But you don’t bother to understand, and you imdiately convict Xaviera! And today is her birthday! You’ve been accompanying Anna all the ti. Is an adopted daughter more important to you than your own daughter?”
“Oh~ I get it now. Are you afraid that Xaviera will return to the Campbell family, beco Miss Campbell, replace Anna, and block Anna’s path, so you want to seize this opportunity to ruin her?”
There was an uproar.
Nidya’s body stiffened, and then she scread hysterically, “Shut up! Xaviera is my daughter! How could I harm her? It’s just that she grew up in the countryside, and it’s possible that sothing like this could happen!”
Xenia felt her inner universe about to explode. What kind of mother was Nidya, not wanting her own daughter but helping her adopted daughter harm her own flesh and blood.
Jeremy Campbell glanced at the expressions of the Har family and suddenly felt a bad feeling in his heart. If those distinguished guests thought that the Campbell family was plotting against Xaviera, it would be bad.
He waved his hand and ordered, “Get soone! Drag this rumor-mongering man out! Call the police and arrest him! I’m going to sue him for defamation!”
Anna Campbell frowned.
