Chapter 1044: Chapter 1044: Don’t You Understand Human Language? Chapter 1044: Chapter 1044: Don’t You Understand Human Language? Cory Hughes turned his head up haughtily, looking at Xaviera disdainfully, “Xaviera, just apologize to Zora, and we can let this go. We’ll happily attend Zora’s apprenticeship banquet. When Mr. Warwick arrives, let Zora introduce you to him. You’re my granddaughter; I won’t treat you unfairly!”
“Getting to et Mr. Manning Warwick is an opportunity that many people can’t get in their lifeti. You shouldn’t refuse such a precious chance. Xaviera, just apologize!”
Xaviera sneered, “Oh! Does Mr. Hughes think I ca here for Manning Warwick?”
Cory frowned. If she wasn’t here for Manning Warwick, what could it be? She and Zora had never been on good terms. It couldn’t be just to congratulate Zora. Could it be sabotage?
With this thought, Cory’s eyes were filled with vigilance, and his tone beca even colder. “Xaviera, I’ll tell you this. Today is Zora’s big day for her apprenticeship. I won’t let you ss around no matter what! If you want to stay, apologize to Zora and get it over with. If not, leave now! Zora is tolerant and doesn’t want to hold grudges with you but don’t push it!”
Xaviera remained expressionless and unwilling to argue with the idiot.
As soon as the guests heard the na Manning Warwick, their eyes lit up. They eagerly chid in, “An apology is in order! Miss Evans, don’t be too stubborn. You and Miss Hughes are sisters. Now that she’s beco Mr. Warwick’s disciple, is admitting a mistake really that hard? If you keep stalling, even if you et Mr. Warwick, he won’t pay attention to you.”
“Yeah! The whole point of attending the apprenticeship banquet is to et Mr. Warwick. But now, you haven’t even t him yet, and you’ve already offended his favorite disciple. This is counterproductive!”
“Your grandfather is only trying to help. Is apologizing that difficult?”
Everyone tried to persuade Xaviera. It seed like they were concerned for her but, in reality, they just wanted to please Cory and Zora.
Knowing Xaviera’s identity, the server realized she was the daughter of the Russell family! If she gets angry, she could chase the entire Hughes family out in a huff.
At this thought, the server couldn’t help but shudder. He quickly stepped forward to explain, “Mr. Hughes, you really misunderstood. Miss Evans didn’t co to Cloud House to attend Miss Hughes’s apprenticeship banquet!”
As soon as he said this, soone countered, “Then tell us which room she reserved? Show us the evidence!”
The server dared not rashly reveal Xaviera’s identity and didn’t dare speak out about the Russell family hosting a birthday banquet here. He could only grit his teeth and say, “Miss Evans didn’t make a reservation, but…”
“If she didn’t, how did she get in? Was it because you took money from her against Cloud House’s rules? Or did she get in because of her relationship with Miss Hughes?”
The server was left speechless.
Xaviera curled her lips. This person ant that if the server denied she entered through Zora, then he must have accepted her money and let her in secretly against the rules. Thus, either she would be humiliated, or the server would lose his job.
However, they didn’t consider there might be another scenario!
The server looked at Xaviera and saw that she seed calm. He sighed in relief and carefully answered, “No! Miss Evans entered Cloud House to attend another banquet. Mr. Hughes, there are other floors and private rooms in Cloud House, and soone else invited Miss Evans. So, even if she didn’t make a reservation, she could still enter.”
As he didn’t dare reveal the Russell family’s identity, he didn’t ntion them in his explanation. Instead, he hoped that by explaining in this manner, he could help Xaviera out of the predicant.
But Cory still believed Xaviera had bribed the server, his voice colder, “Xaviera, stop ssing around! What does it matter if you relied on Zora to get in? No one would laugh at you. Why do you have to buy off the server and deceive everyone? Be good and apologize to Zora. The banquet is about to start, so don’t waste everyone’s ti.”
Xaviera lowered her eyes, lazily glanced at Cory, and suddenly spoke coldly, “Sir Hughes, do you not understand human language?”
The room fell silent.
Cory stared at Xaviera incredulously, unable to believe she said sothing so disrespectful to an elder. He couldn’t help but roar angrily, “Xaviera!”
Xaviera spoke indifferently, “No need to be so loud. I’m not like you, old and hard of hearing! The server already explained why I ca to Cloud House, but you insist on believing I ca for the apprenticeship banquet. Cloud House doesn’t only serve the Hughes family. Soone invited for a al, and I ca as scheduled. Why should I apologize to Zora Hughes?”
