Chapter 29: Chapter 29 That woman is absolutely disgusting!
Victoria’s POV:
I stared at the ssage on my phone, imagining Damian’s smug expression as he typed it.
No matter how hard I tried not to owe anyone favors, my list of debts kept growing longer.
I hadn’t noticed any discomfort during the day, but by afternoon, my lower abdon began to ache dully. I decided to rest at Grace’s for a while.
In the evening, Grace rushed over to
with her phone.
"Victoria, look at this! That bitch Scarlett is playing victim again. She posted this pitiful sob story online claiming she knew nothing about the entire situation. She even had the audacity to write that while I ’fell in love with her husband,’ it only proved how ’desirable’ he was."
My wolf Nora snarled within , bristling at the re ntion of Scarlett’s na.
"She said when they got together, she had no idea Ethan had a girlfriend, painting herself as completely innocent," Grace continued, her voice rising with indignation. "Sutton Group even put out a statent claiming Scarlett is a saint who rescues stray cats. Can you believe this bullshit?"
"That woman is absolutely disgusting!" Grace said.
I just glanced at the screen and set it aside.
"It doesn’t matter. This has nothing to do with
anymore. Don’t waste energy on this—"
"I’m already fired up! How can soone be so shaless? She should be locked up for life!" Grace’s eyes briefly flashed amber as her wolf surfaced.
I chuckled softly. "Co on, calm down. Didn’t you get a new car today? You should be celebrating."
"You’re right," Grace’s face brightened. "I should be happy!"

The next day, I arrived at Lancaster Group headquarters and was imdiately overwheld by the mountain of docunts waiting for my attention.
Damian’s clothes had co back from the dry cleaners, so I ssaged him asking where I should deliver them.
He replied with an address, but when I suggested using a courier service, he refused.
"Little she-wolf, is this how much you value our relationship? You won’t even deliver them personally?" his text read.
I replied: "I’ve been quite busy lately. I might not have ti."
"Then wait until you do have ti. I’m not in a hurry to wear it. Rember, you still owe
a dinner."
I looked at that ssage and wanted to curse.
Damn! That bastard.
Before I could respond, another ssage appeared: "Are you cursing
in your head right now?"
I quickly looked around, as if he might be watching
from sowhere nearby. How did he know?
"No," I quickly denied.
He couldn’t possibly know I was calling him all sorts of nas in my mind.
"Good. Rember to deliver it personally next ti."
The emphasis on "personally" wasn’t subtle.
"Fine," I replied curtly.

As quitting ti approached, Kane ca to my office and placed a property deed in front of .
"The ownership transfer is complete," he said with his usual efficiency. "It’s in an upscale neighborhood. The previous owner fully renovated but never lived there. I inspected it personally—the design is quite nice, but if you don’t like it, I can arrange for renovations. I’ve already emailed you the security code for the front door. Would you like to see it today?"
I nodded appreciatively. "Perfect. I know I can count on you, Kane."
With a new ho waiting, I planned to go see it imdiately after work and hopefully move in right away if it suited .
However, when I walked out of Lancaster Group headquarters, I found myself suddenly surrounded by unfamiliar faces—including one very familiar face: Scarlett Sutton.
"What do you want now, Scarlett?" I said coldly, my wolf rising defensively under my skin.
I continued: "Planning another public assassination attempt?"
Scarlett gritted her teeth, jealousy and resentnt burning in her eyes.
A middle-aged man in an expensive suit stepped forward.
His presence radiated the authority of a high-ranking Beta wolf.
"Miss Lancaster, I’m Scarlett’s father. My daughter’s previous behavior may have caused so misunderstandings. I’ve brought her here specifically to apologize."
He pulled Scarlett forward. "Apologize, Scarlett. Now."
Despite obvious reluctance, Scarlett bowed deeply. "Victoria, I’m sorry. That incident was a misunderstanding. I had the police investigate, and I really didn’t an to kill you. I hope you can forgive ."
When sothing seems too good to be true, it usually isn’t.
I didn’t believe for a second that Scarlett ca here just to apologize.
Scarlett’s father was very cunning—if this were a sincere apology, he would make sure the whole world knew about it.
I glanced to the side and imdiately understood what was happening.
Before I could speak, Scarlett continued: "Victoria, I can overlook your past with my husband. I can even accept that your dia offensive against
forced
to apologize. But do you really need
to kneel before you?"
Without waiting for an answer, she knelt down in the public space.
"Victoria, I’m kneeling now. Can’t you find it in your heart to forgive ? I know you hate , but do you really want to destroy ? Will only my death satisfy you?"
My wolf snarled within , yearning to put this manipulative she-wolf in her place.
"I’ve already overlooked your previous attacks on . I may have made mistakes, but don’t I deserve a second chance? Don’t be so petty—there’s a reason my husband chose
over you."
I stood there coldly, looking down at her pathetic performance, letting her dig her own grave with every word.
After Scarlett’s long monologue received no response from , her father grew impatient. "Miss Lancaster, my daughter has shown sincere remorse. Please stop tornting her."
Hearing this, I couldn’t help but laugh. "I’m tornting her?"
