Helanie:

"It’s true. You entered here from the pearl taken from a rmaid’s tail," my statent made both mother and daughter burst out laughing.

At that point Emt made a small hand gesture, but he kept staring straight at .

"Co on, Emt. You rember , don’t you? From our first eting in that corridor, the forbidden one where you were taking a stroll? You’d been drinking that night. I went there because I was anxious, and I found you. We felt a mate bond and I ran away," I laughed through the mory as silent tears fell.

"You know, I was so scared. But when I got to the room and Charlotte told that you, my step-brother, stroll there, I was so confused and lost. I thought another step-sibling was going to hate ," I mumbled, sniffling and wiping my tears.

"Step-siblings? We’re siblings?" he asked.

"Exactly. See? She’s trying to tell you that you’re siblings. Then at the sa ti she’s saying you’re mates. Isn’t it disgusting?" Azura complained, pushing the accusation in another direction.

"Do you rember anything at all? She’s just making up stories," Charlotte hissed, trying to pull the attention back to herself. But Emt gave her a hand gesture, silencing her once again, then with his other hand pointed at .

"What else do you rember?" he asked, his tone so soft I couldn’t help but smile at him.

"Then I woke up to the fact that you did not even rember. But do you rember? You were the one who saved from that storm. I was about to get yeeted out of the window, but then you held , put down. That was one of the many tis, but the first ti you saved . Then all the other tis, Emt, I found out it had been you taking care of , of my failures," I mumbled, and that was when my lips started to pull down.

I noticed the agitation on Azura’s face as Emt gave silence.

"Princess Azura, I don’t think Emt is strong enough to recognize the danger. It seems like he’s falling for her tricks," the gray woman cut in quickly, trying to silence and stop from speaking with him.

"Old woman, don’t speak up again," Emt warned her with a hand gesture, and she almost gasped.

"Yeah, right, you bitch," Maximus suddenly blurted, earning a harsh look from Emt.

"Okay, fine, I will stay silent too," Maximus grunted, biting his bottom lip and shutting up.

"What else?" Emt pressed.

Azura grunted, glancing at her mother, then back at .

I looked at Emt, my voice trembling.

"And then–I ga—ve birth to y—our baby," My words faltered, but I could see Emt watching .

"Wait, she’s lying to you. How could you impregnate her? Didn’t she just tell you that you two are step-siblings?" The urgency in Azura’s voice sharpened once she realized Emt might be feeling too strongly toward .

"We are not blood-related, Emt," I mumbled. "And we did not grow up together either," I explained. "But it is true, I did give birth to your baby. And you know what? I’m gonna na the baby the na you always wanted," I said, and Azura scoffed.

"See, this is the biggest mistake, the biggest lie ever. You know why, Emt? Because I can tell you this, you never wanted babies."

As soon as Azura said that, both Maximus and I chuckled.

"What is so funny about it?" Azura snapped.

"It’s the fact that you ca to him acting like you don’t know him, then suddenly you knew his na, and now suddenly you’re claiming you knew what he wanted with his life." Maximus’s words made her bite her bottom lip, and she warned him with her eyes.

"You stay out of it," she hissed.

"What did I want to na my baby?" Emt’s attention stayed on .

I gulped. Sowhere in that hesitation, Azura or her mother decided I was lying about Emt wanting a baby, because the two of them chuckled.

"See? She doesn’t know anything," Azura said, folding her arms.

"Hale," I spoke up, and silence hit everyone. "Hale. You wanted to na our baby Hale, starting with my initial."

I watched Emt narrow his eyes. Azura instantly stepped forward, studying his face to see if he rembered anything.

"I don’t rember."

As soon as Emt said that, Azura sighed deeply.

"Co on, Emt, don’t be a fool. We sent you here to save you from the curse. Helanie even brought in the gray woman, who is Azura’s mother, to save you. Do you have any idea who else Azura is?" As soon as Maximus said that, Azura scrunched her eyebrows.

"She is the daughter of the father of the x-codex," Maximus explained while I stood helpless, just staring at Emt. I had said what I needed to say. Now he had to rember on his own.

"What father? What x-codex?" Azura laughed at him. "Maybe this guy has lost his mind," she joked.

"They are just making up shit. I told you they’d try to convince you sohow, and you said no, they wouldn’t be able to. You should have told you wouldn’t believe . I would have been on my way right now."

Now that Azura could see Emt was too silent, she began to complain. However, Emt soon let us know he was not at all convinced.

"No, your highness. You don’t have to go anywhere. I was just giving them a chance to explain their lies to ."

Those words made Azura instantly smile wide.

"You don’t believe them?" she questioned and he shook his head.

"No, why would I? They have not explained anything to ," he hissed.

I looked down and nodded. It all made sense. I had been thinking it would be just too easy. I don’t know why I thought that. Maybe I was a little too overconfident in myself.

"Well then, can we agree that these two are working for the enemies, and if we want to save ourselves, we have to kill them?" Azura spoke cunningly, sharing a glance with her mother.
