Helanie:

"Azura is her daughter. I can’t believe this," Norman hissed, running his hands through his hair as he paced the kitchen.

After she told us she was Azura’s mother, it all started to make sense. We rushed into the kitchen to talk while my friends and the others stayed in the living room to keep an eye on her.

"So all those things she made my mother do, the evil shit, it was so X-codex could ruin the peace of the werewolf community and discard the strongest mbers. They got rid of Helanie’s father. Then they tried to get rid of Helanie. And then with our curses–she never intended for us to survive. She only cared about Emt, the one her daughter could have babies with, the ones who would rule X-codex next. Otherwise, it would crumble like a cookie," Norman explained, grunting angrily.

Now I understood why she had to co here and expose herself. Because her daughter was here. Their last hope was here.

"And she even tried with Zu and Za," Kaye said, shaking his head in disbelief. "She tried to get them with Norman."

"What are we going to do now?" I asked.

It was all getting crazier, but I blad Lady Darcy for it. She had let this curse enter werewolf land because of her greed. And look what she had done.

"Wait a minute. Azura is in there, right?" Kaye asked. And I began to nod.

"What if she convinces him she’s his mate and they do it? Emt doesn’t rember anything. And it could get lonely in there," Kaye expressed his fear, and my heart pounded anxiously.

"But Maximus is also there," Norman argued.

"And do you really think Maximus will be able to convince Emt that Azura is evil? There’s no magic there. And a girl’s tears can lt anyone’s heart," Kaye muttered, slapping his forehead.

"Then I should go in there. Please. I need to be there to make Emt listen to ," I insisted, rubbing my palms anxiously while staring at Norman, who was answering a call from the hospital.

I instantly covered my face with my hands. Kaye rushed over and hugged . He knew I was dreading any news from the hospital.

"Okay, you stay with her. We’ll take care of everything here," Norman said, ending the call and looking at . "It’s okay, Helanie. She’s doing much better. The dagger didn’t hit her vital organs, thankfully."

Norman gave good news. But there was still so much to unpack and work on.

Once I heard about my mother, I broke free from Kaye’s hug and rushed out of the kitchen to slap the gray woman.

She started to chuckle as soon as I moved.

"Don’t fucking laugh in my face," I snarled. "I could fucking kill you and not care. Tell , why shouldn’t I kill you right now?" I grunted as my fingers closed around her neck.

The others ca out after , panicking at what I was going to do.

She smiled wider this ti, and I knew she understood how to stop .

"From the fact that I am the only way to get rid of the curses," she said, smiling, and I felt my fingers loosen.

"Do you seriously think the well of sacrifices was made just like that? That it’s only walls and you throw soone in and the sacrifice is accepted? No, Helanie, it’s filled with my tears. The tears I cursed and poured into the well for this specific day. So no, the well is not important. My tears are. Once the body hits my tears, the sacrifice is accepted. And if you kill , the well will go dry with . So it’s only up to you, Helanie. Do you want to do it? Because one of your mates is still lying in that room. I’m pretty sure you don’t want that." She laughed loudly when she saw the look on my face.

I hated how obvious it was that I felt trapped.

"Oh, you’re such a bitch," Jenny grunted at her. The gray woman’s smile faltered.

"Ah, you have all your team here. Mind telling where my daughter is?" she asked, jaw clenching.

"Why, aren’t you soone who knows it all?" I said. "She’s in there with Maximus, and you better believe the brothers are already getting the truth out of her."

The way she smiled made think it would be even harder to convince her they weren’t winning.

"Knowing she’s my daughter, I doubt that, but I really hope Emt doesn’t end up killing Maximus for her. How sad would that be, escaping a curse only to be killed by your own cursed brother?" We’ll all miss Maximus.

When she said that, Norman lost control. He lunged at the gray woman and wrapped his arms around her neck, trying to knock the wind out of her forever. He couldn’t stop. I grabbed his biceps and pulled him away.

"That’s right. Put a leash on your monster," she comnted, making everyone angrier and more agitated. I faced Norman this ti, my hands on his chest.

"Norman, I don’t have another option but to go in there after them," I insisted.

He took my hands and pulled closer, pressing his palms to my back like he wanted to hold in place.

"Helanie, what if Azura has already convinced him that we’re evil?" he asked.

"That’s why I need to be there. I need to go in there for Maximus, for Emt—both," I said. "If she’s convinced him, that ans Maximus’s life is in danger because he won’t hurt Emt. He rembers he’s his brother, but Emt doesn’t rember. Please let go in there. If we get him to kill her, the sacrifice will be done." I tried to smile, but it felt forced.

I could already tell Kaye and Norman didn’t agree.

Kaye stepped forward, tore our hold apart, grabbed my arm, and dragged back to the kitchen. Norman followed without question. I knew they already had the sa plan in mind.

"Helanie, are you seriously thinking straight?" Kaye demanded. "Even if you go in and make Emt kill Azura, what do you think happens after that? The curse won’t break. We need Emt to throw her into the well in this world, because the well is not sowhere else, it’s here. Only then can the curse end. And once all the curses finish, the negative energy in the air will be so strong it could kill Emt." He argued.

I felt my head spin at this point.
