Seth Sterling had a great biological clock, waking up right on ti in the morning. But seeing his mom sleeping soundly next to him, he stayed still, tilting his head to watch her sleeping face, suddenly feeling a bit heartbroken.
The image of his mom leaning by the bed last night saying she missed him was still vivid. He couldn’t quite understand it, but felt his mom must have suffered so grievance.
Was it that jerk dad who wronged her again?
He frowned, starting to feel dissatisfied with his father.
Poor Ethan Sterling, his reputation really wasn’t good, blad for everything, but it was the ss he created himself.
Honey, who also had a great biological clock, woke up and noticed her brother wasn’t out of bed yet. She ran over to call him and opened the door, only to find her mom there and snoring loudly.
Honey was a bit shocked. Was this a fake mom? She had never heard her mom make such a noise while sleeping. Also, why was mom in her brother’s room?
As she puzzled over it, her brother erged from behind their mom, putting a finger to his lips, gesturing her to be quiet.
Honey nodded, tiptoed out, and closed the door.
She swung her little legs to her dad’s room, seeing him sitting by the bay window. She ran over and climbed onto his lap, "Dad, why is mom in brother’s room?"
"Because mom drank a bit of alcohol last night and insisted on sleeping in brother’s room."
Dad looked a bit weary, stubble shadowing his chin. Although smiling at her, he didn’t seem happy.
"Dad, what’s wrong?" Honey was a bit worried. "Are you upset because mom drank?"
"No, Dad’s just a bit concerned about mom’s health. Drinking isn’t good for the body."
"Then, when mom wakes up, I’ll tell her not to drink anymore."
"Alright." Ethan Sterling rubbed his daughter’s head, unable to resist hugging her, sowhat understanding Ruby Sullivan’s heart last night in wanting her son upon returning ho. Children truly are healing. Even just holding her small body quietly made his heart soft.
Since it was the weekend, Seth and Honey didn’t have school, and Ethan didn’t disturb Ruby’s sleep. He believed their son stayed in his room to let her rest well.
After resting with Honey for a bit, he took her for a walk in the small park next to their community. There was a big swing in the park, which Honey loved to play on. But this was his first ti taking her out alone; lately, both he and Ruby had put all their energy into work, sowhat neglecting the kids.
But Honey and Seth had gotten used to this rhythm, especially after the school term started this ti. Both kids seed to have grown up and beco more understanding.
"Dad, this flower is as pretty as you; you must like it." Honey held out a bunch of wildflowers she picked by the roadside to Ethan, looking up at him with eyes curved in a smile.
It was Ethan’s first ti being compared to a flower, which actually made him a bit happy. He took the flowers from his daughter’s hand. "Thank you, Honey."
Honey ran off happily and sat on the swing. "Dad, co over and push ."
Ethan obediently went over, holding the flowers carefully in one hand while gently pushing the swing with the other.
Faye Truman was right. If it weren’t for him, Ruby wouldn’t have suffered so much. He wouldn’t have missed Honey’s growth either.
"Honey, do you hate Dad?"
"How could I hate Dad?" Honey thought it was a ridiculous question. She got off the swing, hugging her dad’s leg. "Honey loves Dad, Mom, and brother the most."
Ethan ruffled her hair. "Then let’s go back and see if brother and mom are up."
"Okay." Honey held his hand, humming a song, happily hopping on one foot as they walked.
"Dad, you know, I think holding dad’s hand and skipping like this is the happiest thing because mom always worried I’d fall. I used to think it would be great to have dad around. He’s definitely strong and won’t let fall." She grinned widely as she said this, looking at Ethan with her head tilted, clearly overjoyed.
Ethan, amused by his daughter’s expression, nodded approvingly, "That’s right, Dad’s strong and definitely won’t let Honey fall."

Ruby Sullivan was awoken by her phone ringing. It was Sasha Shaw.
Yawning, she sat up sluggishly, dazed for a mont before answering, "Dear."
"Are you ho?"
"Yes."
"Is Ethan with you?"
"No, why?"
"Did you have a fight with Faye Truman last night after I went to sleep?"
Ruby Sullivan was silent. "No, why?" She found it increasingly strange.
"Ethan ca over early morning and beat up Faye Truman, but Faye wouldn’t say a thing." Sasha had called partly to find out the reason and partly to caution Ruby against Ethan.
She had never seen anyone fight so viciously before. She sighed, "When I woke up, Faye’s face was already covered in blood..." She couldn’t continue recalling the scene she saw last night.
"Ethan beat up Faye?" Ruby tugged at her hair, shocked. She hadn’t drunk too much last night and rembered everything clearly. She definitely hadn’t said anything reckless. She had no intention of telling anyone what Faye had said!
Sasha guessed that Ruby didn’t know, "Could Ethan be jealous?"
"Is Nathaniel okay?" Ruby changed the subject.
"Not very well, his eye is quite badly hurt and needs a lot of care, lost a molar, but other than that... it’s okay, no bones broken."
Ruby sighed, "Is he at the hospital?"
"He went back to the hotel to sleep. The doctor said hospitalization isn’t needed. I’m just worried about you now. You didn’t see, but Ethan looked like he wanted to kill soone last night. I suspect he has violent tendencies. Be careful."
"He..." Ruby considered defending Ethan but figured it was pointless. "Got it."
After ending the call, Ruby saw her son looking at her obediently with a concerned expression. "Can I ask you sothing, Mom?"
She instinctively smiled, raising her hand to ruffle her son’s hair, "You can ask anything. You don’t need my permission."
"Were you upset last night? Did soone bully you?"
Ruby felt a bit embarrassed, pursing her lips. "No one bullied mom; it’s just sothing happened, making feel very guilty towards you." She picked up her son, "Seth, have you ever blad mom?"
Seth hugged Ruby, "Mom, don’t feel guilty. I know you didn’t want to be apart from either. It’s all fate. As long as we are together from now on, that’s all that matters."
Ruby kissed her son’s cheek, feeling a bit inadequate at how understanding he was.
"Let’s go find dad and Honey."
Seth nodded, observing his mom and knowing she was full of energy again, he felt reassured.
