Cindy Sterling stepped off the treadmill, looking a bit bewildered at her brother rushing in, "Why are you here?"

Ethan Sterling was also taken aback.

His little sister didn’t seem affected at all; why was Faye Truman so anxious on the phone?

He hadn’t yet figured out what to say when Ruby Sullivan entered, not noticing the awkward atmosphere in the gym, and directly rushed to hug Cindy Sterling.

After listening to Faye Truman, her heart was filled with concern for Cindy Sterling, and all she wanted was to quickly give her a comforting hug.

Cindy Sterling smiled, lightly patting Ruby Sullivan’s back jokingly, "Did my brother bully you?"

Ruby Sullivan lifted her head, bursting into laughter, "You girl, you worried us sick."

Cindy Sterling was also helpless; to put it simply, she just dismissed a spy her brother had planted at her side. Was there really any need for them to make such a fuss?

"My depression has been cured, rember?" she reminded them, then recalled sothing and added, "Oh, brother, you’re here just in ti. I was looking for you. If you’re going to hire such an expensive nanny for in the future, can you discuss it with first?"

Ethan Sterling felt a bit embarrassed, "Sure."

Ruby Sullivan was a bit confused. She only knew that Cindy Sterling had feelings for Faye Truman over ti, and today, after being rejected, she had driven him away. She didn’t know how it related to Ethan Sterling.

Outside the door, Faye Truman, who had been eavesdropping, let out a sigh of relief and slowly went downstairs.

Ten minutes later, Cindy Sterling pulled Ruby Sullivan into her room and straightforwardly said, "Faye Truman ca to the old house to accompany , not out of guilt or sympathy but because my brother gave him a lot of money." Thinking back to when she questioned him, his persistence and certainty seed quite ironic to Cindy Sterling.

It was indeed not out of guilt or sympathy.

Ruby Sullivan was stunned, she hadn’t expected such a backstory. She thought Faye Truman had rejected because of self-doubt!

After processing for a while, she still believed that the Faye Truman she knew wouldn’t change his thoughts just because of money. As a friend, she preferred to believe that money was rely a tool that nudged him forward.

Cindy Sterling saw Ruby Sullivan’s shock transform into a furrowed brow and tentatively expressed her uncertainty, "You find it hard to believe too, right?"

Ruby Sullivan pursed her lips, "It is hard to believe, but it’s also no big deal. Cindy, if you’re willing to look at this objectively, if Faye never made any romantic gestures during your interactions, then there’s nothing to bla him for, right?"

Cindy Sterling thought it over, "Well, no, he always treated like a friend, but I’ve liked him for a long ti, so I didn’t really dwell on it. You’re his best friend, do you think he might like ?"

"Although we are indeed good friends, we are of different genders and haven’t discussed romantic feelings. All I know is from the ti I’ve known him until now, I’ve never seen him date or heard him talk about liking anyone, so Sasha and I once suspected he might be into n." Ruby Sullivan curled her finger, "However, he very clearly said he likes won, so from that point of view, you might have a chance."

Cindy Sterling scrutinized Ruby Sullivan’s expression, actually trying to detect any flaw, but there was none. Ruby Sullivan’s face only showed sincerity.

Ruby Sullivan smiled and took Cindy Sterling’s hand, "As soone who’s been through this, I really want to tell you not to cling to a man who doesn’t like you because it can lead to a lot of heartache, but... not trying will definitely leave you feeling unsatisfied, so I won’t tell you to move on or give up. I just hope you protect yourself and don’t... don’t let yourself be deceived."

She initially wanted to say "don’t get hurt," but how could one not get hurt in love? When the person you like can’t reciprocate the sa feelings, your heart will inevitably be hurt, so just don’t be deceived. Even if there’s no love, be honest with each other; that’s enough.

"Hmm." Cindy Sterling nodded, lying down on the bed and said softly, "Actually, I’m a bit sad."

When she said this, her face was expressionless, her eyes calm and still. Since Faye Truman left, she had been in this state, so calm it seed as if nothing had happened. But when she spoke the words, Ruby Sullivan felt ti slow down for that mont, feeling the lancholy for this girl.

"It will get better." Ruby Sullivan could only tell her this, as this sadness was inevitable, needing no comforts, allowing herself to feel it until it fades away.

Afterwards, the two chatted about their work plans, and Cindy Sterling escorted Ruby Sullivan to the doorway, where they saw Nathaniel Truman and Ethan Sterling standing in the shade outside smoking.

Cindy Sterling frowned slightly, then withdrew her gaze and smiled at Ruby Sullivan, "Bye-bye."

"Take care of yourself, we’re leaving." Ruby Sullivan approached and gave her a tight embrace, then waved at her.

Once Cindy Sterling closed the door, Ruby Sullivan instantly put on a stern face and glared at Nathaniel Truman.

Ethan Sterling stubbed out his cigarette and tossed it into a nearby trash can, then went over to wrap his arm around Ruby Sullivan’s shoulder and patted, "Let’s go."

Ruby Sullivan was overwheld by the cigarette stink coming from him, and with Nathaniel Truman being troubleso, she wasn’t in the mood to be nice to him either, "You reek; I’m not riding with you." Saying this, she took the car keys from Ethan Sterling and drove off alone.

Nathaniel Truman was a little desperate; he had just arranged with Ethan Sterling to give him a lift to the city, but in the blink of an eye, he’d been abandoned too.

"When did your wife’s temper get so bad?"

"Recently, it’s my fault." Ethan Sterling squinted at the car that vanished from sight, helpless but with a hint of sweetness.

Nathaniel Truman’s face twisted in frustration; at a ti like this, couldn’t Ethan stop showing off with that "I’m proud to have indulged her" expression?

Seeing Ethan Sterling turn to press the doorbell, Nathaniel Truman panicked a little, "Hey, aren’t you calling your driver to co pick you up?"

"Going ho at this hour is too early, and I don’t want to return to the office." Mr. Sterling leisurely replied.

Everyone has monts when they don’t want to work.

"Then what about ?" Nathaniel Truman felt like crying; in such an old villa neighborhood, there was no public transport available, let alone taxis, and even if he tried calling a cab, there might not be anyone around to take his request.

Ethan Sterling had already rung the doorbell, gave him a glance, and smiled faintly, clearly couldn’t-care-less about what happens to him.

The next mont, the intercom transmitted the servant’s voice, "Master Ethan, Miss said she’s in a bad mood and doesn’t want to see you, so please leave."

With that, the intercom screen went dark.

Ethan Sterling froze at the doorstep, feeling like a flock of crows had flown over his head, then heard Nathaniel Truman’s hysterical laughter ensuing.
