Ruby Sullivan sat in the small interrogation room like the ones on TV, feeling dizzy from the light overhead. The sll in here wasn’t pleasant; it was that musty odor typical of places that haven’t seen light for years, cold and damp, making her uncomfortable all over.

She sat down and shivered, thinking she should have brought a coat.

Ruby took a mont to compose herself before the two interrogators spoke, saying, "I’m not in good health. I had major surgery six months ago. Although I look healthy, if you use harsher thods, I might just collapse. To avoid trouble, I hope you gentlen will treat a bit politely."

The female officer glanced at her indifferently, "Don’t worry." Nor did she waste any more words, "Do you know Julian Lowe?"

Ruby shook her head, "No, I don’t. Gentlen, I know you have a lot to ask, but for all the questions that follow, I will remain silent. If you don’t mind, we can talk after my lawyer arrives."

Before being brought here, she requested to call her lawyer; in truth, she called Ethan Sterling, who only told her one thing: remain silent.

The female officer was quite dissatisfied with her attitude, slamd the table, and frowned, "Ruby Sullivan, if you have nothing to hide, what are you afraid to answer?"

Ruby was startled and shrank back her neck but didn’t speak. Then she turned her face cold, starting to remain silent, no matter what the police asked, she wouldn’t say a word. Listening to that female officer rambling on, she almost wanted to suggest a career change; being a police officer not only wasted her gift of imagination but also seed quite unfair to the suspects.

Turns out, police investigations rely on imagination, which is even more absurd than a Conan storyline.

Honestly, she was a bit afraid these two would torture her for a confession, as it’s rumored that police are particularly adept at this, with so local stations beating you up first without saying a word post-detention.

With such worries in mind, several tis she glanced at the two out of the corner of her eye, contemplating whether to chat a bit or not?

But she really didn’t know what to say.

In the female officer’s eyes, she was a venomous woman who wouldn’t hesitate to resort to hiring soone to rape a young girl just to keep a man. If she were a married woman, that could be overlooked, but the key point here is, she and Ethan Sterling are divorced. Not to ntion, Gwen Yates doesn’t have any designs on Ethan at all, even if she did, it would be perfectly reasonable. She’s not only a venomous woman but a pervert too.

The female officer seed to have run out of patience, suddenly slapped the table, stood up, and shouted irritably, "Ruby Sullivan, is it worth it for a man who’s lost his feelings for you?"

Indeed, it’s not worth it, Ruby secretly added a sentence in her heart, but Ethan Sterling now was extrely fond of her, not at all~

anwhile, the door of the interrogation room was suddenly pushed open, and the already chilly room dropped a degree in temperature.

The two officers looked at the man at the doorway with unfriendly expressions and suddenly felt a bit apprehensive.

"I’m here to get my wife." Ethan Sterling said, quickly walking over, taking off his coat and draping it over Ruby. "Sorry, I’m late."

A team leader and a lawyer followed behind Ethan Sterling.

"Boss, what’s going on?" The female officer’s face turned as unpleasant as eating a fly, as if not letting her ask follow-up questions would suffocate her.

"We’ll talk later." The leader, called the boss, frowned.

Ruby didn’t care about whatever secret conversation they were having; she didn’t want to stay here a second longer. However, when she got up, she found her legs numb, standing hurt, and she could barely take a step.

Ethan Sterling suddenly walked in front of her, turned his back, and bent down, "Get on, I’ll carry you."

With Ruby’s current physical condition, a princess carry could easily strain her back; in situations requiring transport, a piggyback was safer.

Initially, Ruby didn’t want to flaunt their affection in front of others, especially in such a place, but rembering the female officer’s story-spinning made her quite displeased. For the first ti, she gleefully climbed onto Ethan Sterling’s back.

She pretended to casually say "Alright" in a low voice, and ostensibly kept looking ahead while actually using her peripheral vision to observe the expressions of the two interrogators, tsk tsk, they looked stupid.

And so, in this manner, she was carried by Mr. Sterling out the police station’s front door, where several won waiting for docunts all showed envy without exception when they saw them.

Having such an outstanding man like Ethan Sterling by your side was enough to be proud of, not to ntion this man was toiling ceaselessly, carrying you, practically a machine for manufacturing lemon essence!

Ruby completely understood why finding a partner with good looks was essential; her girlish heart was now overflowing, her small vanity satisfied in every way!

After the two exited the police station, she contentedly patted Ethan Sterling’s shoulder, "Alright, let down."

Ethan Sterling continued walking forward, "The car is just ahead."

Ruby tilted her head to try to see his face but saw nothing; however, she sensed he was in a very bad mood now.

"Are you angry?" she probed cautiously.

"Mm."

"Angry at... Gwen Yates?"

Ethan’s brow moved slightly, "She doesn’t deserve it."

Ruby planted a kiss on his neck, "Don’t be mad anymore, I’m fine, aren’t I?"

"If sothing happened to you, I’d make sure the entire Yates Family paid for it."

His voice was chill, devoid of any emotion, as if in the next second he would slaughter all in sight without any resistance.

This intimidating Ethan Sterling strangely put Ruby at ease; she said, half laughing, half crying, "I still don’t know what’s going on, have you investigated it yet?"

"More or less."

Ruby knew he was in an extrely bad mood, to the extent that he spoke in disjointed phrases, but still had to admire Ethan Sterling’s efficiency. He should only have had the ti to deal with this on his way here, right?

As they spoke, the two had already reached the car, and the driver, seeing his boss coming, quickly went to open the car door.

Only then did Ethan Sterling set Ruby down, and watched her get into the car and sit comfortably before walking around to get in the car himself.

The person called Julian Lowe was the one who harassed Gwen Yates that night. Initially, it was at most attempted rape, but during the interrogation, Julian Lowe confessed he was hired, paid to do it, and it was because of a guilty conscience at that ti that he let the person go, hoping for leniency.

Reportedly, soone from the Yates Family ca the next day, threatening to make Julian spend his life in jail. Julian was so scared he confessed everything.

However, aside from adamantly insisting Ruby Sullivan was the one who hired him, there was no other evidence, but the details were explained very clearly. The police initially thought they could get so important leads from Ruby Sullivan, only to hit a wall.
