"Ahh, the sweet, sweet taste of a proper al."
Alden muttered in satisfaction as he took another bite of the seasoned dinosaur at.
It was absolutely glorious.
Now, admittedly, he had only been eating unseasoned roasted dinosaur for a little over a week and maybe his reaction was slightly exaggerated but a man was allowed to express his emotions every now and then, wasn’t he?
Especially when doing so served a second purpose.
Alden took another bite.
Yes, he had allowed his materialistic desires to take control for a while but it wasn’t entirely without reason.
Because acting dumb had its advantages as it made people lower their guard and stop paying attention and if it ca with delicious food and an easy way out of a deadly situation, then that was simply an added bonus.
At first, Alden had considered fighting his way out of this place but the idea didn’t last very long because even he wasn’t arrogant enough to ignore reality.
His body was still a ss, his Eclipse Mana was far too powerful for him to handle properly, anwhile, the Dragons participating in this ceremony were in peak condition. Not to ntion those waiting outside for him.
So, if he tried forcing his way out, his chances of survival would be low especially when he still had no idea how to use any Eclipse spells.
For so reason, forming the Eclipse Core hadn’t unlocked any knowledge of any specialized techniques unlike previous stages.
He had power but very few ways to properly utilize it and that made Aemirya’s proposal far more valuable than she probably realized.
Alden took another bite.
The at was perfectly seasoned as flavors he hadn’t experienced in days exploded across his mouth as his gaze naturally wandered toward the Dragon Princess munching on the snake without any expression.
How could she look so similar to Aemirya and yet be so different?
Still, Alden didn’t say anything about it because his mouth refused to perform any function other than eating. Only after he finished his al did he begin the second phase of his information-gathering plan.
***
Three more days passed just like that.
Throughout that ti, Alden and Aemirya remained together. During the day, they hunted other participants within the Holy Land and at night, Aemirya taught Alden the information about the world while eating their own separate als.
Over those three days, Alden learned many things and most importantly, he finally discovered where he was.
Dragothoria.
That was the na of the kingdom he currently found himself in. It was one of the Ten Sovereign Kingdoms of Dragonkind, a nation hidden deep within the vast Naturile Forest and it was ruled by one of the Ten Dragon Rulers.
Bazooka.
Who also happened to be Aemirya’s grandmother.
Alden had nearly choked the first ti he heard that na.
Who the hell nas their child Bazooka?
But apparently, the word carried an entirely different aning in the Dragon Tongue.
Still...
The na being as unique as it was imdiately reminded him of a distant mory, a mory Alden had almost forgotten and a mory where he had heard of that na before from the Demon King.
Back when he completed the Chaos Trial and was transferred to the location of the Demon King, that guy had casually ntioned a Dragon nad Bazooka.
At the ti, Alden hadn’t taken it seriously.
In fact, despite lying about being her grandson afterward, he had always suspected the Demon King to be playing with his mind because a Dragon Queen with that na Bazooka simply sounded too ridiculous to be real.
And yet here he was.
In the kingdom ruled by that very Dragon Queen and traveling alongside her granddaughter.
Alden couldn’t help but shake his head.
Fate truly was a strange thing.
Because otherwise, there was no reasonable explanation for how he had ended up eting the actual granddaughter of Bazooka in this place.
Other than that, Alden also learned how "primitive" and "barbaric" humans according to Aemirya’s wording, resided.
The Dragon Princess described humanity as a race residing in the far north, divided among countless kingdoms and empires, too busy fighting one another to accomplish anything aningful.
Surprisingly, elves, dwarves, beastn and every other race Alden knew were completely absent from this era.
When he ntioned them, Aemirya had simply frowned and looked at him as if he had lost his mind.
"Humans in the North, dragons in the East and the demons in the South, that is how the world is."
Those had been her exact words and the revelation had shocked Alden far more than he expected because every history book he had ever read painted a completely different picture.
Even the novel’s knowledge stated the sa thing.
Demons were supposedly a corrupted race and invaders who appeared later in history and sought to conquer the world.
But the reality Aemirya described was entirely different.
Not only had demons existed from the beginning... they were peaceful and coexisted with both Dragons and Humans. Hell, according to Aemirya, there had even been a ti when the Demons intervened to prevent humanity from being driven to extinction.
The more Alden learned, the less sense history made to him so at so point, he simply stopped trying to understand it for now, thinking he would study more once he is out of this holy land.
Why had history been distorted?
Who had rewritten it and for what purpose?
But still, the questions never truly left his mind, especially when he was bored while waiting for Aemirya to bring their next prey.
Just then, the sound of battle echoed through the sky, pulling him from his thoughts as he saw two massive Dragons clashing in the sky above.
One of them had pure white wings and ruby-red eyes, she was Aemirya while her opponent was a Dragon with ashen-gray wings.
This was how they eliminated competitors.
Aemirya would engage the target directly and keep their attention focused on her while pulling them closer to the ground and once it was in range, Alden, who was hidden on the ground waiting patiently for a perfect mont, would strike.
It was simple but brutally effective and surprisingly difficult to counter.
The elegant royal silk clothing Alden currently wore was proof of that. He had acquired those clothes from a very kind and a very generous male Dragon two days earlier.
The dragon had graciously donated both his clothes and his storage ring shortly before being eliminated from the ceremony. The Dragon had even invited Alden to et him outside afterward. Not that Alden had any intention of accepting the invitation.
Just as he was lost in thought, sothing heavy crashed onto the ground.
It was Aemirya and the grey-winged dragon.
Alden’s gaze sharpened imdiately.
Ti to get to work, I guess.
