"Who are you?"

Aemirya asked, her gaze cold and her expression guarded while her estoc remained pointed directly at Alden.

Alden looked at her in silence.

Not only does she look like Aemirya... Even her personality is similar.

Is she really her ancestor or sothing?

His thoughts drifted for a mont before Aemirya’s voice pulled him back.

"I asked who you are and what a human like you is doing in the sacred forest of Dragonspire?"

The tip of her estoc didn’t waver as Alden let out a quiet sigh.

Although he was injured, Aemirya wasn’t in much better condition. Her body was battered from head to toe and the only reason she had managed to kill the orange-haired woman was because Alden had occupied her attention long enough to create an opening.

Neither of them was in a position to start another fight.

So Alden raised his head.

"I am... Damien."

The words ca out naturally. If this truly was the past, he had no intention of leaving records behind under his real na.

"And before you ask, no, I have no intention of fighting you."

His gaze remained fixed on her face and then, after a brief pause, he asked the question that had been bothering him ever since he saw her.

"Haven’t we t before?"

Alden pushed further and the mont the words left his mouth, his eyes remained locked on hers, trying to determine whether she was truly the sa dragon he had t back then or rely soone who looked eerily similar.

"....."

Aemirya frowned slightly but she didn’t say anything. There wasn’t even the slightest hint of recognition on her face as if she had no idea what he was talking about and her next words confird it.

"What are you speaking about, human?"

Her grip on the estoc tightened as at the sa ti, mana began humming around her body once more.

Aemirya’s raised her guard even higher.

"Answer at once." Her ruby-red eyes narrowed. "To which kingdom do you belong? And what are your intentions for infiltrating the Holy Land dressed in such an indecent outfit?"

Alden blinked.

Of all the questions she could have asked...

That was the one she chose?

Still, it confird one thing.

She didn’t know anything about their eting in the Flux Dungeon and that ant one of two things.

Either she wasn’t the sa dragon he had t back then...

... Or he had sohow been sent to a point in ti before she ever entered the Flux Dungeon.

Alden refused to rule out either possibility because this entire concept of ti travel was still far beyond his understanding. So, for now, he simply continued with his act.

Letting out a tired sigh, he walked towards her and as soon as reached a sufficiently comfortable distance, he slowly slumped onto the ground, leaning onto a tree as he raised his hand in resignation.

"Honestly, I don’t know what’s happening either."

His voice was calm and weary.

"I don’t know where I am. I don’t know how I got here. Ever since I woke up in this place naked without most of my mories, I have been completely lost."

He glanced at his makeshift leaf clothing.

"As for this outfit... It was the best I could manage to make. I saw Dragons fighting in the sky but I was far too afraid to approach any of them. So I stayed hidden and hunted nearby beasts while searching for a way out of this forest and tried to piece together what happened to ."

He paused briefly.

"And then you crashed near where I was hiding. I could have run away while that orange-haired woman was focused on you or I could have hidden and waited for everything to end."

"But when I saw you..."

Alden hesitated.

"As strange as it sounds, it felt like I knew you. Like I had t you sowhere before. My body moved before my mind could catch up and before I knew it, I was attacking her to save you."

He lowered his gaze.

"And if, after all that, you still wish to punish , attack or even kill ... then I won’t stop you because for so reason, you don’t feel like an enemy. Instead you feel like an old friend to ."

A bitter smile appeared on his face.

Of course, most of what he had just said and shown on his face was complete nonsense. He wasn’t slumped on the ground because he had given up.

His Spirit Domain was fully active while his Monarch of Mana continuously concealed its presence from Aemirya’s senses. Even his seemingly relaxed posture hid a body tensed like a spring ready to attack at a mont’s notice.

The mont she attacked, he was prepared to move and just because she resembled Amyra didn’t an he was going to die for that. His right arm was useless for the mont but he still had ways to fight and if necessary, ways to escape.

The only reason he was putting on this pitiful performance was because a peaceful resolution had way more rewards than another useless battle.

Because at this point information, answers and hopefully, a way out of this forest was way more important than simply killing her.

She didn’t look particularly convinced but even so, as if recognizing that he had no imdiate intention of fighting her, she lowered her estoc and slumped onto the ground as well.

The distance between was significant enough to feel safe and close enough to make sure that neither of them could truly relax.

For a few seconds, both of them simply caught their breath. Taking advantage of the calm situation, Alden imdiately asked the question he had been dying to know.

"Now that we have decided not to kill each other for the mont, could you please tell where the hell we are?" He didn’t even pause. "And while we are at it, what year is it? And who exactly are you?"

Aemirya narrowed her eyes, her lips twitching slightly and yet her expression remained as unreadable as ever. For a mont, Alden thought she was actually considering what to answer.

And then she finally spoke.

"Just because we aren’t fighting doesn’t an I gave you permission to speak to , pervert."

Alden froze.

"...Pervert?"

Aemirya’s gaze slowly traveled from his face to the leaf clothing, then lower and then back to his face.

Only then did Alden rember that his current outfit consisted of several large leaves held together by determination and questionable craftsmanship.

"I feel like you are focusing on the wrong part of this conversation."

"Silence." Aemirya pointed her estoc at him once more from her seating position. "The elders specifically warned to be wary of perverted humans like you."

anwhile, all Alden could do was let out a helpless sigh.

What the fuck have I gotten myself into?!

Fuck you fate!

As usual the full burnt of his hatred was bore by fhe fate.

anwhile, far away within the sa world, atop the highest floor of an ancient tower, a soft chuckle echoed through the silence as a pair of eyes slowly opened.

"So... the fated wielder of the bloodline has finally arrived in this world."
