Ma Lingling had no intention of harming Li Xianglu, but instead exclaid excitedly: "Because I killed their entire family! That’s why, that’s why I ran out! Hahahaha!"

Just as Li Xianglu stood up in shock watching Ma Lingling being taken away, a police officer walked in from the door, sweating profusely, apologizing: "We’ve all been fooled, this lunatic claid she was trafficked and a victim, but we’ve just received a report that she killed her family of five: two elderly, her husband, and two children."

When the officer finished speaking, Li Xianglu was also drenched in sweat, it was too perilous; earlier in the corridor, the officer ntioned to her that this woman was a victim, trafficked, and then escaped, thus, when Ma Lingling requested a eting to talk for a while, she agreed. Who knew that this person had actually murdered five mbers of her family and run away? It was quite terrifying.

Three months later, Ma Lingling was executed by firing squad. It was Qin Xi who ca back specifically to inform Li Xianglu, and did so deliberately, considering that this girl really lacked a sense of caution; it was good to scare her.

The couple had been living in this city for three years, and it wasn’t until ’88 or ’89, thanks to Qin Xi’s outstanding work performance, that they were transferred elsewhere.

This ti Qin Xi was assigned to the big city of Shanghai, and their seven-year-old twins were now in second grade. Actually, given the children’s intelligence, it was not a problem for them to be placed in the third or fourth grade, but because Su Yan wanted to teach them many additional pieces of knowledge, every holiday the two children had company etings in Hong Kong, so Li Xianglu simply let them follow the given pace.

This ti, Qin Xi beca the Deputy Mayor of Shanghai at the age of 32, in charge of the economy.

Li Xianglu continued to work as a deputy bank manager, but at this ti, banks were extrely popular, especially in a tropolis like Shanghai, which was in very high demand.

Qin Xi had long purchased a mansion in Shanghai, a two-story building with a yard and a small attic, which was a historical building from the late Qing period. Su Yan loved it so much that she spent a lot of money thoroughly renovating it.

The two children also began attending school in Shanghai, but Gu Niannian, too, ca along.

Gu Niannian’s father, Gu Congsheng, had a particularly smooth collaboration with Qin Xi in Huai County, so when Qin Xi entered Shanghai, he brought Gu Congsheng with him and placed him in charge of finances.

They didn’t live far, and the three children were attending school together.

Li Xianglu, at the ripe age of 29, was convinced by Su Yan to have another child, because Su Yan told her there were new anesthetics abroad. Li Xianglu, who was allergic to anesthetics, had done so research and found that she was only allergic to one component; after switching, there was no issue.

And under the onslaught of cute little cotton jackets Minmin and Xinxin, Li Xianglu decided to have another child.

Originally, at four months of pregnancy, Li Xianglu could have found out whether the baby was a boy or a girl, but she didn’t dare. She feared what would happen if it turned out to be another boy; better to wait until the child was born.

Yet, Su Yan, who persuaded Li Xianglu to give birth to a granddaughter, grew increasingly worried when Li Xianglu was six months pregnant. Mr. Li, around eighty years old, curiously asked about her concerns.

Su Yan sighed and said: "Xiangxiang’s belly is pointed, I feel like it’s another boy this ti."

Mr. Li was startled and frowned, saying: "Why don’t we go to Hong Kong and stay for a while?" In case it’s another boy, this child will drive us crazy!

Finally, three months later, Li Xianglu gave birth in Hong Kong. The day was clear and crisp, Qin Xi, the twins, Mr. Li, and Su Yan all waited outside the delivery room.

Li Xianglu had a cesarean section when delivering the twins before, so the doctor didn’t recomnd a natural birth for this pregnancy, fearing it might rupture the previous incision; thus, she underwent a cesarean imdiately after the onset of labor pains.

Not long after she had gone in, a nurse ca out and said the surgery went smoothly without any bleeding, so everyone was much relaxed, completely unlike the tension they felt during the birth of the twins.

Wearing a pair of blue overalls, the cute bun Ba’er stared intently at the operating room door, looking at the red surgery light, and nervously asked, "Great grandma, do you think my mom and my little sister are both okay?"

Su Yan twitched her lips upon hearing Ba’er ntion a little sister; she had an unsettling feeling. What if Li Xianglu gave birth to a boy again this ti? She regretted hyping it up.

Ba Yi, now very composed, heard his brother’s words, smiled, pulled him to sit down, and gently said, "Mom and your little sister will be fine."

Ba’er nodded, his slightly chubby baby face serious and tense.

Qin Xi, however, could not help pacing around, eyes fixed on the operating room light, then constantly checking his watch, his fists clenched, unable to stand still as if this was the only way to keep his heart at peace.

Watching his dad’s behavior, Ba Yi shook his head without speaking, just calmly sitting there watching the operating room. The pre-surgery checkup went well for mom, her blood pressure was normal after going in, so everything would be alright.

But Ba Yi’s normally cold eyebrows furrowed; the only thing was that mom might fly into a rage.

He rembered eight months ago, when he and his brother accompanied their mom for a prenatal checkup. He stayed by her side as the doctor perford the ultrasound. His mom had happily talked about buying lots of dresses for her daughter, but the doctor doing the ultrasound frowned, opened their mouth as if to speak, but then said nothing.

So he always had a feeling that the little baby in mom’s womb might be a brother, not the little sister mom was hoping for.

But what difference does it make whether it’s a sister or a brother? They were all born of their mom, all their siblings, whom he would love and protect.

Finally, the light in the operating room went off. Qin Xi was the first to rush to the door, sprinting past the nurse carrying the child, towards Li Xianglu.

Seeing this, the doctor was sowhat helpless but did not stop him. By then, Li Xianglu was already pushed to the next room by the nurse to expel the lochia.

When she ca out again, Li Xianglu’s eyes were bright, and she excitedly asked Qin Xi, "Have you seen our daughter?"

Qin Xi gave her a once-over, relieved to see his wife unhard, albeit a bit pale, then smiled and said, "I haven’t had the chance yet."

It wasn’t until the evening that Li Xianglu found out what she had given birth to was not a little jacket, but a loudly crying little pair of trousers. By then, Su Yan had already taken Mr. Li and fled.

It was only when the nurse, helplessly carrying in the Little Demon Star that could wake the entire room with its cries, that Li Xianglu discovered the daughter she had longed for had turned into a son!
