Su Yan took the lunch box and grumbled, "You’re just listening to what she says, she’ll forget about the tofu once we’re back."

Li Xianglu, with a laugh, filled a bowl for Hu Zi and the others before replying, "Hehe, Grandma Su really knows well."

Although they were on a journey, the al they were having was quite good. Generally, stewed dishes have less soup and are a bit drier, but Li Xianglu thought of chicken soup and decided to add more, thinking that eating and drinking sothing warm would be better.

While the big family was enjoying their al, they heard a series of footsteps approaching. Everyone looked up unanimously as Hu Zi frowned and stood up, only to see a dark figure standing at their doorstep.

Hu Zi frowned and asked, "Who are you? What do you want?"

Because the figure was positioned in the hallway, it blocked the light coming in from the windows there; a dark mass was all that could be seen at first. The person then slightly turned side-on, revealing a dark face, now with a sowhat ingratiating expression, "I was just lured by the sll and wanted to ask for so soup. I don’t need any solid food, just want to drink sothing hot."

Aside from the twins who were happily eating, everyone else was shocked. How shaless this person had to be to so blatantly ask for food, and just the soup at that—when the soup was chicken soup nonetheless.

Seeing that everyone was silent, the man chuckled awkwardly, took a step back, and just as he was about to leave, Li Xianglu let out a sigh and said, "We don’t have any more bowls."

Upon hearing this, the man’s eyes lit up and he excitedly said, "I have a bowl!" Without waiting for Li Xianglu to respond, he ran off with thuds, followed by the squeaking of a door opening and closing, and then the sound of him running back.

Hu Zi was the first to get up, blocking the man at the door. He took the bowl from the man and handed it to Li Xianglu.

Li Xianglu had already gone to the pot; there was not much soup left, but there was plenty of food, so she generously scooped a bowl of stew and tactfully used chopsticks to place two pieces of wheat-and-corn buns on top of the vegetables and handed it back.

Hu Zi, seeing this, didn’t say anything and handed it directly to the man. The man, upon seeing a bowl full of at and vegetables on top, beca stunned and hesitated before accepting it. Hu Zi frowned when the man didn’t leave.

But then, the man spoke sowhat apologetically, "Big sister, I just wanted so soup, why give so much?"

Li Xianglu had already sat back down by the bed, having to deal with her two sons who were big eaters and Leng Qing, who couldn’t keep up alone. She laughed and said, "All right, it’s not easy venturing out; we all love to drink soup, just make do and eat so vegetables."

The man was slightly startled, chuckling foolishly, as if he couldn’t believe there were others who truly enjoyed soup as much.

Holding the bowl, the man began to eat loudly in the corridor, with the noise reaching the room.

Su Yan sighed softly to Li Huai Ren, "This child is just too kind-hearted."

Li Huai Ren smiled and, picking up the fat that had accumulated at the edge of her bowl, ate it before saying, "Isn’t that exactly why you took a liking to her? Her kindness?"

Su Yan rolled her eyes, took a bite of cabbage, picked out any chicken skin, and placed it on top, then blinked suggestively.

Li Huai Ren indicated he had seen it, and the two continued to eat their al in silence.

After lunch, the snow finally stopped, and by 4 p.m., the sun was shining brightly.

The two children were happily running up and down the corridor.

Li Xianglu was hesitant, unsure whether it was a good idea to hit the road at that mont. However, the driver said with the sun shining, it would be best to wait a day for the road to freeze over by the next morning.

So, in the evening, Hu Zi went out to buy so food, and the family spent another night at the hostel.

Then they set off early the next morning, at around 8 o’clock, and, just like the driver ntioned, the temperature fell, freezing the snow on the road. Although it was still difficult to traverse, conditions were better than the day before.

In the morning, as they passed by the room of the robust man, they saw a big lock on the door, deducing that he must have checked out and left early.

Li Xianglu had no ti to ponder over it since they still had a long journey ahead.

After driving for six or seven hours, with a couple of hours lost due to taking a wrong turn and getting back on track, everyone was cold and hungry.

Just as Li Xianglu was debating whether to take out so food, she felt the car shake violently, the front of the vehicle plunged downwards, and everyone was thrown forward.
