Qin Miao was arrested? Everyone found it hard to believe. What was going on?
Lu Anna looked at Li Xianglu with a complex expression and chose her words carefully, "Many people are asking why. The authorities say it’s just a routine inquiry, but Qin Miao was led out in handcuffs."
That’s not just a routine inquiry then; there may already be concrete evidence.
Li Xianglu frowned and looked at the two empty beds; they weren’t here for today’s exam either. Could it be related to these two?
Suddenly Li Xianglu rembered she had to go ho with Qin Xi, so she quickly said goodbye and left.
By now, Qin Xi was standing opposite the female dormitory with his bicycle, waving as she ca out.
Li Xianglu had too many questions in her mind, which quickened her pace, rushing her breath as she drew near.
Qin Xi adjusted her scarf and helped her put on a mask before asking, "What’s the rush?"
Li Xianglu, with wide eyes staring fixedly at Qin Xi, asked without blinking, "Qin Miao was arrested, did you know?"
Qin Xi nodded nonchalantly, as if it were nothing, and while pulling her towards the north gate, he whispered, "I know, I saw the police car co, about a dozen people ran into a club’s office and arrested soone."
Li Xianglu sighed. Why did she find talking to Qin Xi so exhausting? Why couldn’t he address the main point? She was asking why Qin Miao was arrested, not whether he saw it.
Seeing the stern look from the young girl, Qin Xi said with a comforting smile, "Alright, let’s get on the bike first, we can talk later, there are too many people here."
Li Xianglu looked around, nodded, and got on the bike, gazing at Qin Xi’s long and powerful legs pedaling the bike. Her face blushed slightly as she wore gloves and hugged Qin Xi’s waist, leaning her head against him with a giggling smile.
Qin Xi was puzzled and, unable to see her expression, asked with curiosity, "Why are you laughing?"
Li Xianglu shook her head against Qin Xi’s lower back and remained silent.
After riding for about ten minutes, they got off the bike. Li Xianglu decided not to sit on it any longer since it was mid-December and snowing; it was too cold. Walking was better.
Standing close to Qin Xi, she blew warm air against the cold and saw her breath fog up her mask.
Qin Xi chuckled and shook his head, curiously musing about what she did in her past life to be so childlike.
Seeing few people around, Li Xianglu slipped her small hand into Qin Xi’s arm, her eyes gleaming with a triumphant squint.
Qin Xi narrowed his eyes, moving towards the roadside to let her cuddle closer.
Li Xianglu finally asked, "What exactly happened?"
After a mont of consideration, Qin Xi replied, "Qin Miao was arrested by the police for espionage and will be interrogated."
Confirming, Qin Xi nodded, "That seems to be the case."
Li Xianglu incredulously asked, rembering a stack of docunts, "Are those docunts for real?"
Qin Xi responded with amusent, "Of course, they are real. Do you think the police simply arrest people carelessly?"
Li Xianglu wanted to ask more – how did you know? But she didn’t voice it out.
Many Foreign Exchange Vouchers were sold at ho, but there was still a good reserve left including the food stockpile, so Li Xianglu secretly bought a lot of rice and flour. At this ti, so places had started using fertilizers, but most had not. The grains from this period were the safest, so Li Xianglu decided to store more for future consumption.
They bought so bok choy from the greenhouse and headed ho. There were at and fish already at ho.
Upon arrival at the yard, Qin Xi parked the bike in the porter’s lodge while Li Xianglu, carrying her backpack, walked straight inside. Sister Xing waved at her from the kitchen window.
Li Xianglu paused, turned, and headed towards the kitchen, signaling Qin Xi to follow with a wave.
Inside the kitchen, Sister Xing was making dumplings and reported, "There are visitors at ho, your father-in-law and grandfather are here."
Ah? It wasn’t odd for Mr. Qin to visit since he often did, but Mr. Li senior rarely ca. Had he ever been here before? Why was he here today?
Following behind, Qin Xi, who had also heard, showed a knowing look and told Li Xianglu, "Don’t go in yet, go change your clothes first, co back in half an hour. I’ll check first."
Li Xianglu took both backpacks, nodded, and took a detour to the west.
anwhile, Qin Xi knocked and entered the living room. As Sister Xing had ntioned, three people were seated there.
Qin Xi expressed surprise, "Grandpa, dad, how co you both are here together?"
He then sat beside his father.
Mr. Li senior spoke in a mild tone, "Didn’t you say you wouldn’t be back? Why did you suddenly return?"
Qin Xi explained with a smile, "I originally had an exam on Sunday, but it got postponed to Monday, so I ca back with Xiao Xiang. She caught a cold and went back to her room."
Mr. Li senior nodded, understanding. He had thought it odd since the child had called on Friday afternoon to say he wouldn’t return, and here he was.
Mr. Qin anxiously asked, "Xiao Xiang is alright, right?"
Hearing his father’s concern ward Qin Xi, "She’s fine, she’ll be okay after lying down. She didn’t wear a mask and breathed in too much cold air." Qin Xi lied smoothly.
Mr. Qin was reassured and nodded. His daughter-in-law looked slender but was seldom sick.
Qin Shen, displeased, interjected, "At this ti, why discuss such trivial matters?"
Qin Xi internally scoffed at the dismissal of the concern for his wife as trivial. Not participating in the conversation, he just poured himself so hot water to drink.
Qin Shen, seeing his grandson silent, glared angrily at his younger son!
Mr. Qin helplessly spoke up, "Dad, there’s nothing Uncle Li can do about this now. You know, Uncle Li is retired, how could he interfere with those matters?"
Qin Shen felt infuriated as his son not only didn’t support him but also seed to excuse others, smoothing things over. However, catching Li Huai Ren’s cold gaze chilled him, calming his anger and making him more polite, "Yesterday, they arrested the eldest and today even Qin Miao was arrested. But how could they possibly be spies!"
Qin Xi gave a faint smile, yeah, unlikely. At most, they were involved with spies for money, but wasn’t that still a cri?
ps: More to co tonight but that’s all for now, I need to step out.
And here I am, Lang Jiu has returned!
