While Jayce and Tony continued to talk over a warm and hearty al, Lianna and Leah were both deep in enlightennt. Not only was the Law of Nature all around them, they also had a big push from their resident Chef.

Jayce’s use of the Law of Fire had been enough to bridge the gap of understanding that the two had been lacking. The firestorm was like a force of nature itself, sending those engulfed in its embrace back into the circle of life.

If the two had not gained understanding while being in this pri environnt, it would have been laughable. It was so blatant that Jayce felt that he could also gain enlightennt if he so choose.

Yet there was a part of him that felt like doing so would be detrintal. He wasn’t sure what the actual reason was, but his intuition had rarely proved him wrong in the past, therefore he did not have a reason to question it.

Perhaps the Law of Fire and Nature were incompatible, or it was possible that he was subconsciously wary of spreading his focus too thin. Either way, he had decided to forego the opportunity to delve into it.

Leah’s eyes fluttered open, a look of disorientation present on her pretty features. Yet in the next mont she jumped up in excitent, "Haha! I did it."

Jayce sent a fierce look her way, causing her to freeze in place. She looked around only to see her sister also sitting down in ditation, out of reflex she put her hand over her mouth and sent an apologetic look towards the man.

With exaggerated care, she tip-toed over to Jayce and Tony who looked like they had just had a al. Her stomach grumbled, almost as loud as her previous outburst, probably a response from the lingering sll of the food.

Leah looked mortified, cursing her opportunistic stomach.

Jayce and Tony both choked back a laugh, doing their best not to disturb Lianna. With an amused look, Jayce handed Leah a steaming bowl of rice before ladling a large spoonful of fragrant curry on top.

Originally she felt a little embarrassed, however the food in front of her seed to sweep the feeling away quickly. She inwardly praised her stomach for its quick thinking before digging in enthusiastically.

’This Jayce is definitely husband material... Maybe I can switch places with Lianna on the weekends?’ Leah’s thoughts ran wild as she shoveled the delicious curry into her mouth with little care for those around her.

The bowl of curry did not last long from the onslaught of her spoon, quickly becoming a distant mory. A flash of disappointnt painted her features upon retrieving an empty spoon.

"Ahem. Is there any more?" She asked, a pleading smile on her face.

Jayce shook his head, "You can bla your Uncle here for having three servings."

Leah’s face fell as she turned her gaze to the culprit which had denied her another helping of delicious curry. Tony’s expression was indifferent, as if he was saying sothing along the lines of ’you snooze you lose.’

She was shocked, usually the older man would be apologetic, trying to make it up to her. Yet there he was, shalessly standing there as if he did nothing wrong.

Just as she was about to stomp her feet in annoyance, Leah suddenly began to feel faint. She swayed precariously, causing Tony to quickly run over to her in a panic. "Leah, what’s wrong?"

Yet in the next mont she had fainted, going limp in his arms. He quickly looked over to Jayce to ask for so help, "Jayce, wha—"

Tony’s words caught in his throat as he witnessed what happened next. Jayce also began to wobble, his face turning pale before he also fell to the ground with a thud.

"W-What’s happening?"

The older man panicked, looking around for a possible cause. "Was it the food?" he suddenly paled at this thought. The two of them had only eaten one serving, while he had eaten three...

Tony placed his hand on Leah’s wrist, checking her pulse. He let out a sigh of relief, feeling a strong rhythm in response against his fingers.

***

Jayce was suddenly surrounded by darkness with motes of light traveling past him just slow enough for him to see. It was as if he was shooting through space, passing the stars with great speed.

Before he could get accustod to the feeling, his surroundings blurred and he appeared in a dark room. He could make out a structure directly in front of him, and to his left and right were rows of chairs.

Sitting on the chairs were veiled figures. They looked around in confusion, before calming down in the next mont. It was clear they understood where they were and why.

This was the place where Rubick had gathered them before, when it was ti for the World Quest. Jayce felt his mouth go dry, his anxiety triggered.

Sothing was telling him that this World Quest would not be simple. Perhaps it was because he knew more than everyone else present, or maybe it was his intuition once again coming to its own conclusions.

Much like last ti, they were bound to the theaters seats which ant all they could do was wait for the star of the show to appear.

They did not have to wait long. After a few monts, the shadows upon the stage gathered, morphing into a humanoid figure with a creepy mask and a tophat.

The slender figure flicked his coat, causing the shadows to disperse. With another gesture, a light appeared from above them like a spotlight, illuminating his enigmatic appearance.

Jayce’s brows furrowed, feeling sothing was amiss. The Rubick he had dealt with previously had a flair for the dramatic, loving to be in the spotlight. Jayce even had a suspicion that this is why the being had chosen a theater as their eting spot in the first place.

"It’s that ti again. Your world’s next trial." The voice that ca out of the mask was cold, seemingly holding back a deep anger.

’Ah shit.’ Jayce cursed inwardly, this did not look good.
