Chapter 157: This Ti
I couldn’t believe my eyes. Tears wouldn’t stop falling as I could sll the familiar awful stench of blood. It makes
want to vomit.
"Young master." Kaoru imdiately ran to Night’s aide after seeing nobody else near him. "Young master?" He called for him, but there was no response.
My body beca stiff as I couldn’t move from where I was standing. Because of ... he’s going to die because of . Like what Tomoe said, Night was willing to die for , and I let it all happen.
I staggered on my way toward him. "N-Night." My voice cracked after calling his na. My heart felt like it has been stabbed upon seeing the state he was in.
It was all my fault.
"Are you crying?" I heard Night asking in a low voice. His voice was hoarse and he couldn’t open his eyes due to the blood coming from his head. "Don’t cry." He said while Kaoru tear the ropes tied on him.
Tears kept falling out of my eyes but I suppressed my sobs as I wiped his eyes and his face. "Seeing you like this makes
so happy." He said. "I thought I was going to die."
I couldn’t stop myself from breaking down after hearing that. "It was my fault." It was supposed to be a happy reunion with
saving him, but seeing his condition, I was too late. I failed.
"Don’t bla yourself." He said as I could feel his weak hand on my cheek. "I should be the one to apologize. For pushing you off the cliff, and for not being able to protect you."
What’s with him? It was the only way for
to escape, and he trusted
that I could survive that fall. If it wasn’t for what he did, I will be tortured like him here too. Or worse? Be killed.
"Milady, young master, Kenji-san said that they’ll start the raid now," Kaoru said who just got back from a phone call with Kenji. "We must go now." He helped Night, and I decided to do that too.
"It’s funny that I’m being helped by you two." Night muttered even though he looks like he was having a hard ti speaking.
"Just keep quiet and walk with us. You’re wounded so don’t push yourself." I said while suppressing my tears. There’s no ti for regrets. We need to escape as soon as possible, that way I can at least make up for my mistakes.
The three of us struggled on our way to the other door which would lead to the back gate based on Kenji’s information. It scares
that soone might jump right in front of us and take Night away again.
"Are you sure you’re willing to carry
like this? I’m still stinky with all the blood and you’ll get dirty." Night asked. Why is he even asking about sothing like that? Why would Kaoru and I care about that? That’s the least of our concerns right now.
"That’s right, you lost too much blood. That’s why we need to hurry and get out of here."
As we struggled, we heard lots of noises coming upstairs indicating that the raid has finally started. ’I hope Kenji and the others will safely co back too.’ I thought as I could feel my shoulders aching while supporting Night.
The commotion outside started to get louder and the dungeon-like basent was empty with the only sound of the water dropping to the floor the only sound I could hear besides our footsteps.
"There’s water here. I need to at least wash this dry blood off." Night said and I looked at him in disbelief. "I can’t go out looking like this, can’t I?" He added.
I grunted while Kaoru helped Night wash off the blood from his body and I beca the lookout just in case there are still Junichiro’s n in the basent.
"Hey, you’re not going to take a shower here, aren’t you?" I couldn’t help but ask while having my back to them. That clean freak should really learn how to control himself sotis.
Who would want to take a bath in this kind of situation because they couldn’t take the fact that they’re all dirty with blood? The first thing we need to do right now is to bring him to a hospital. His wounds could be fatal.
"I’m just washing the blood off." He said.
After doing that, Night started stretching despite having wounds all over his body. However, when he tried to walk on his own, he almost tripped if it wasn’t for Kaoru’s quick reflex, he would have been on the floor now.
"Stop pushing yourself," I told him as I helped him too. "Just rely on us for now."
It wasn’t even that far, but carrying Night with us felt like it was going forever till we reach the said door. I could feel a smile forming on my face as I grabbed the sliding door and opened it forcibly.
"We need to hurry," I told the two of them as I looked left and right after going out through the backdoor. We should be able to go through the gate where Kaoru and I ca in before.
"There they are!"
My eyes went wide open after I hear voices and footsteps coming towards us. "Don’t let them escape!" One shouted which caused
to panic. ’What should I do?’
"Noelle! Back off!" I heard Night calling for my na causing
to back away while Kaoru let go of Night and started kicking off those people.
"Milady should take the young master and leave," Kaoru said as he dodges a punch from Junichiro’s n, but he soon got kicked on his side when he looked back at us.
T-That’s right. The objective is to escape, not to fight those people off. I grabbed Night’s arm and helped him stand up because he lost his balance after Kaoru left him.
"You think we’ll let you two escape?" One of Junichiro’s n charged at Night and , which left
no choice but to push Night away and blocked the attack.
"Ha! You think a woman like you could fight ?"
I grabbed his arm and tried to flip him, but he quickly stopped
and almost did the sa to . That was until I kicked him right on his calves and he imdiately bent down.
’I’m sorry.’ I thought as I kicked his face with all my might causing this pitiful man to fall face-first to the ground and he didn’t move after that. ’Did he perhaps lose consciousness?’
I imdiately ran back towards where Night was, but I heard him laughing making my forehead crease. "Why are you laughing in this situation?" I couldn’t believe him.
Night looked at
with his face still filled with bruises. "It’s because I saw you hesitated before kicking that man right in the face." He said causing my face to heat up.
"O-Of course. It’s not my nature to be violent." I said as I helped him stand again. "Let’s focus on escaping."
"If you can escape, that is."
I stopped after my eyes landed on a man standing in front of us. He has this huge grin on his face as he removed his glasses and crossed his arms.
"I should have killed you when I had the ti, my dear nephew." He said. He’s Junichiro Yamaguchi, Night’s uncle that was kicked out of the Yamaguchi-gumi.
I backed away with Night. "What more do you want from Night?" I gathered my courage to ask Junichiro that. Even though I don’t know what he’ll do to .
"What more?" Junichiro went silent before he had another huge smile on his face. "Everything."
"Noelle, you need to go. You shouldn’t be involving yourself." Night said as he pushed
away from him, but he could barely stand on his own. "This is none of your business, so leave." He added.
I couldn’t believe his words. None of my business? Aren’t we supposed to be lovers? And I am Junichiro’s target in the first place so it is my business!
"You never changed, my dear nephew." One of Junichiro’s n brought him a chair and he sat on it in the middle of this chaotic ss. "Did you know why Kiyoshi died?"
Kiyoshi?
"It’s because he took the Yamaguchi-gumi from . Who does he think he is? I am far better than him."
Night started laughing as he holds onto his stomach while trying to keep his balance. "Uncle Kiyoshi deserves his position because he’s talented and kind. Unlike you, who are envious of other people’s success."
Junichiro’s expression changed. "That’s not true. Kiyoshi thinks he’s better than everybody else. I’m also dad’s biological son so why am I not the one in that position!?" He raised his voice as I saw him ball his fist.
Just when I thought he’ll start rambling about his inferiority complex, he cald himself down and smiled again.
"That’s all in the past now." He pulled sothing from behind him. "I have no need for you, nephew. So die."
My eyes widened after seeing Junichiro aim a gun right at Night who can’t even stand properly.
"This is farewell. You’ll be with your mother now."
My feet moved on their own before Junichiro’s n could even grab , I ran towards Night, and when I heard the gunshot, I blinked lots of tis.
"Ah..." I faced Night and his eyes were filled with terror. "Y-Your face—"
I couldn’t even laugh as my visions started getting blurry. ’Was I able to protect him?’
"Y-You should see t-the look on your face." I chuckled but blood ca out of my mouth.
Tears were running out of Night’s eyes but I couldn’t hear any sound as I felt his arm on my back. "N-Noelle, please."
"I... will protect you this ti."
