Rory

Trevor rained down a series of curses and threats on and at the end of the call, I was actually scared while wondering if I hadn’t just created a hot myself for my life with my own hands.

Trevor threatened to find and do unthinkable things to in order to teach a lesson for thinking I could outsmart him and go scot free. I felt a little sick after the call and I had even forgotten that I hadn’t been alone throughout the call until the kind alpha steadied when I stumbled a little.

His warm scent hit my nose. He slt of sage and wine. His eyes were filled with worry when I peered up at him and I instantly felt myself being engulfed by embarrassnt at the realization that this stranger had basically listened in on the entire conversation.

"Are you alright?" He asked, voice smooth as it washed over and I stepped out of his hold and awkwardly cleared my throat before shoving my phone into my pocket, and then I nodded jerkily.

"Yeah, I- I am. Thanks for asking."

His handsoness was marred by a frown as he stared down at , and I instantly felt the urge to flee from his presence.

"Are you sure?" He finally asked and I nodded, cheeks pink as I let my eyes dart around to ensure we weren’t being stared at right now. But we were being stared at, because of course people just couldn’t mind their business.

I cleaned my throat again and took another step backward.

"Look, I appreciate the concern, but I’m fine, okay?"

I didn’t give him the chance to respond as I continued. "Once again, I’m so sorry for your shirt. If I can, I’d have offered to clean it for you, but then you’d have to walk ho naked." I snorted at the last part and his eyes twinkled as he tilted his head.

"Oh but I can definitely give you my shirt. That way I can have an excuse to see you again." He responded seriously and I spluttered.

"You’ll walk ho alone?!"

He chuckled softly, a surprisingly beautiful sound that made dimples appear in his cheeks.

"No, silly. I drove here. I can drive ho shirtless... but to prevent breaking my law, I most definitely have another shirt in my car." He explained and I found myself frowning, suddenly feeling unsure of where I currently stand.

"Ah... I–" I began but he smoothly cut off, a brow arching high on his forehead.

"You aren’t thinking of taking your offer back, are you?" He drawled easily and I bit on my bottom lip, averting my gaze.

"Because that’s gonna be very rude of you. And I don’t think that’s the kind of person you are." He continued and I felt my cheeks grow a little warm.

After a few monts, I ended clearing my throat

"I have to return back to work though, my boss is probably already angry." I said to him but he only humd thoughtfully, hands sliding into his pockets.

"But my car’s over there, it won’t even take long to get out of this shirt." He reasoned and I frowned up at him before reluctantly agreeing, because I was still feeling guilty about his shirt whiff the coffee ruined.

"Okay." I ended up agreeing and he flashed a smile that made my inside jump a little, to my utter bewildernt.

"So, where did you disappear to this whole ti? I was pretty disappointed after arriving at the hospital and I was told you were gone." He began to speak as we crossed the road to where his car was packed. I felt a little ridiculous right now but it wasn’t like I could get out of this situation right now.

"I was staying with a friend." I responded quietly as he opened his car and slid into it, while I remained standing beside the opened front door. He reached to the back of the car for a bag which he dug through till he got his hand on a slightly wrinkled round necked polo.

"Oh, yeah? I searched for you a little but ended up giving up. However, I did worry about you though. Why were you passed out at the side of the road that particular day?" He asked and I was suddenly tongue tied.

"Anyways, I’m just relieved you ended up being alright. Running into you today was nothing but a coincidence, I guess I have the coffee to thank for that." He chuckled this ti and I found myself glancing down at my fingers while biting at the inside of my cheek, unsure of how to respond to this.

Was he flirting with ? I asked myself as I glanced back at him. However, my breath stumbled to a stop in my chest because he was shrugging out of his ruined shirt right now, giving an eyeful of his abs which looked like they were defined enough to serve as a washboard. My cheeks instantly flad up and I found myself awkwardly coughing as I whirled around.

The soft chuckle he let out made my stomach flutter a little.

"It’s safe to look now." The tease in his voice was clear now and I yanked the shirt from him while my heated cheeks refused to cool down.

"If that’s all... I guess I’ll return to work now." I breathed out just as he slid out of the car, towering over once again.

"When should I return for it?" He asked, and I realized that he looked insanely good in this polo as well.

How unfair.

"In two days." I told him, but before I could whirl away from him and return back to my work, he was stopping again with another question.

"Are you sure you’re alright though? I pretty much eavesdropped on the entire phone call you had with that dude and it sounded pretty intense with the threats and all. It might sound insane to you but I’m surprisingly worried about you. He wouldn’t keep to his words and actually try to hurt you, would he?"
