Claire’s POV
I was confused when Evander arrived on the stage out of the blue. His sudden presence threw off, and for a brief mont, I almost broke out of my character. The way he delivered his words felt too personal, too real. It made it hard to distinguish between the act and my actual emotions. But I quickly composed myself. This ti my lines weren’t coming from the script or the character I was playing. They were coming from , Claire.
My heart pounded as his words sank in, and when he hugged , whispering his plea for a chance, my emotions boiled over. How dare he!
"Hah! A chance?" I said as my voice trembled with a mix of fury and heartbreak. "Look deep into yourself and think if you really deserve that! Do you really think you can give yourself a chance? Do you think you are capable of fixing the damage you have caused?"
I shoved him away, breaking free from his hold. My glare bore into him, but my tears betrayed as they stread uncontrollably down my face. My voice cracked as I opened my mouth to say more, but it was interrupted by an unexpected sound.
A loud round of applause echoed through the audition hall.
I froze, my breath hitching. Damian had risen to his feet, clapping with an intensity that made my cheeks flush. The other judges followed suit, wiping the corners of their eyes.
Only then did I realize how powerful the mont had been? My words, the fire in my eyes—they weren’t just mine anymore. They had poured into the performance, leaving a mark that seed to reach everyone watching.
A wave of embarrassnt swept over as I quickly wiped my face, trying to pull myself together. My eyes flickered toward the judges, and with shaky hands, I stood up.
Damian smiled, his voice carrying across the room. "Now that... was a performance. Well done, Claire."
Even as I heard the praise, my mind drifted to Evander. His presence was still like a storm in my heart. The line between acting and reality had blurred, and I wasn’t sure how to separate them again.
"Man! I never thought you were this big of a fan of Miss Claire Reed," Damian comnted as he walked toward the stage with a pen and paper in his hand, as his tone was light and teasing.
Fan? Whose fan? Mine? My mind was already hazy, and I struggled to process his words as my emotions still swirled chaotically. I stood frozen, unsure of what to say or how to react. My heart was still racing from the intensity of the mont earlier.
"Miss Reed! Your performance was exceptional!" Damian’s voice broke through my thoughts, pulling back to reality. "I wasn’t wrong. Just as I thought, you are the perfect person for this role! I have had my eye on you ever since I saw you at the mansion, but I couldn’t approach you then. However, seeing you here today... I am really glad I ca to this audition session."
I forced a smile, bowing my head slightly in gratitude. "Thank you! Thanks a lot!" I said, keeping my tone polite and neutral. I decided to ignore his ntion of the mansion for now. The last thing I needed was to dwell on that awkward connection to Evander.
"There is no need to thank ," Damian continued with a warm smile. "I am just speaking the truth. But here is another truth for you: my friend here, Mr. Evander, is your biggest fan!" He chuckled, gesturing toward Evander, who was still standing nearby, looking sheepish.
"What?" I blurted out, my voice higher than I intended, as I turned to look at Evander. My mind struggled to connect the dots.
Damian’s grin widened as he went on. "Oh, yes! You wouldn’t believe it, but his room is practically a shrine to you. Every magazine edition you have appeared in, he has it. Every small role you have ever done, he has watched it—probably more tis than I can count! Honestly, the first ti I saw you was because he was watching one of your movies."
My eyes widened as I processed his words. I glanced at Evander, who was standing awkwardly, trying to co up with the right words.
"I... uh..." Evander stamred, clearly caught off guard.
I blinked, my mind still racing. Was this for real? Evander—the sa man who had just thrown my emotions into complete chaos on stage—was also secretly my biggest fan? The thought made my head spin.
Damian seed to enjoy my stunned reaction. "You see, Miss Reed, it seems the universe has a funny way of bringing people together."
I opened my mouth to say sothing, but no words ca out. All I could do was stare at Evander, who finally t my gaze with an awkward smile. For a mont, the tension between us hung thick in the air, but Damian’s amused chuckle broke it.
"Well, before I go... I want you to give an autograph," Damian said with a wink. "I once promised him I would get your autograph, but you were always so hard to find."
"An... an autograph?" I repeated in shock. It was surprising enough that Evander liked my work, but he actually wanted my autograph? My face grew warm, and I looked away, trying to wrap my mind around it.
Damian chuckled, noticing my embarrassnt. "You must be surprised. He talks about your work a lot. He said that it really inspires him. So, you see, it’s a very important request," he added with a grin.
What the hell is going on here? I just wanted to turn around and leave. The more I tried to stay away from this man the more he was getting involved with ! Just what the hell did I do to deserve this!?
