Evander’s POV

I stared at the list of nas Zaniel had handed . After dismissing him, I leaned back in my chair and opened the file, inhaling deeply as I prepared myself for what I might uncover.

The first thing that caught my eye was the number of nas—ten, all n. My brows furrowed as I scanned the list, and frustration started to bubble inside .

"Why are there so many n on this list?" I muttered under my breath. My grip on the file tightened as my thoughts spiraled. My world had always been carefully controlled, with barely a handful of people around . Still, my brother... he seed to have surrounded himself with a different kind of crowd, a world I didn’t fully understand, but of course I had respect for him no matter what he did.

I closed the file for a mont, running a hand through my hair as I tried to gather my thoughts. "Who are you?" I whispered, staring at the list as if it held the answers I desperately needed. "Who was the love of my brother’s life? And why haven’t I heard your na before now?"

A long sigh escaped as I leaned back in my chair, my gaze fixed on the ceiling. mories of my brother surfaced. He had always been a mystery to people, even to , but he was always pretty close to . However, I knew nothing about him, and now, when I needed clarity the most, all I had were questions.

I straightened in my chair, opening the file again to look at these ten people once again, as I needed to know who might be the person my brother had in his heart. The nas stared back at with a silent challenge. Everything had beco clearer in so ways, but the picture was far from complete. I couldn’t let my brother be forgotten, not like this.

Why did he marry Lexi if he didn’t love her? Why did Lexi cooperate with him, knowing their marriage would be nothing but a sham? And more importantly, who was the man my brother had been dating— the one he had hidden so carefully from the world, from ?

My jaw tightened as I closed the file once more. I needed answers, and I wouldn’t rest until I had them. My brother’s life deserved to be understood, and his story deserved to be told.

I rose to my feet, grabbing my phone from the table as I strode toward the door. My thoughts were racing with many possibilities that I might have to face. This wasn’t sothing I could delegate or delay— it was personal and most important.

As I reached the doorway, Zaniel’s voice broke through my focus.

"Where are you going, boss?" he asked, his tone a mix of curiosity and mild concern. I stopped in my tracks, turning just enough to catch his gaze.

He didn’t wait for my answer. "We have an important eting later. You can’t just leave like this," he added, his brows knitting together.

I took a mont to hear him, then straightened my posture, making my intentions clear. "Cancel all the etings for the next few days," I pronounced firmly as my voice left no room for the argunt.

Zaniel’s eyes widened slightly, but he said nothing, so I continued.

"I have other things to handle, and they are important things. From now on, I won’t be coming in early. I will be leaving on ti as well," I added, as my tone was resolute.

Zaniel blinked, clearly trying to process the sudden shift in my priorities. "Boss," he started, but I raised a hand to cut him off.

"I don’t need to attend every miscellaneous eting," I said, my voice growing sharper. "Let the others handle them. That’s why I hired competent people, isn’t it?"

Zaniel hesitated, then gave a small nod. "Understood. But—"

"No buts," I interrupted, stepping closer to him, lowering my tone slightly but keeping the edge. "This isn’t up for discussion. If there is sothing truly critical, you know how to reach ."

He looked at for a mont, his expression unreadable, but I knew he wouldn’t press further. "I will take care of it, Boss," he said finally in a steady tone.

"Good," I replied, turning back toward the door. As I stepped out into the hallway, I added over my shoulder, "And Zaniel, keep everything running smoothly. I will be watching, even if I am not here."

Without waiting for a response, I left, my mind already shifting back to the task at hand. There was too much at stake now—too many answers I needed to find. And for that, I couldn’t afford to waste any more ti.

I walked briskly to my car, my mind buzzing with thoughts. Sliding into the driver’s seat, I started the engine and adjusted the rearview mirror, taking a steady breath.

I inhaled deeply as I needed to et the man who might have been my brother’s companion. Answers were within reach, and I couldn’t waste any more ti.

Pulling out of the parking lot. As I approached the main highway, my phone buzzed loudly, breaking my concentration.

I glanced at the screen, and my jaw clenched. Damian.

"What does he want now?" I muttered under my breath, gripping the steering wheel tighter. I had already invested in his project, and frankly, I had no ti for his nonsense.

The phone continued to ring, the insistent sound grating on my nerves. With a sharp exhale, I tapped the hands-free button on the console, connecting the call.

"Yes, Damian?" I said, my tone clipped and far from welcoming. "What more can I do for you?" I asked sarcastically.

"Evander," ca his voice. "We need to talk."
